Play that funky music, right
Play that funky music, white boy
Lay down and boogie and play that funky music till you die
TILL YOU DIE

Haha I think the lyrics to this one is a great tune. Yet they do kind of contradict their selfs and can be miss under stood for the most part.
play it and die
or
play it and die
There is an interesting mix here, but there are plenty of songs with contracending aspects to them. A list I would suspect would be the nesxt thing to touch on this topic.
Soldier: "We suck but we're better then you"
We will fight, we will be strong
Together we're marching on
United, we move as one

Stayin' alive.
Stayin' alive.
Ah, ha, ha, ha,

Music and life are rather golden. Half of the time. =D
Sometimes music is for escapism, sometimes it causes people to do stupid things whether or not it was their intention Just because of their interpretation of it.

I think that during the brief time I was learning to play bass this summer, I was told to learn the bass part to that song. I didn't practice very much, so whenever I tried it, my fingers would end up off a note or two. And now I don't have the bass I was using anymore, so I can't get it right. Dammit.
I don't know what I think of those lyrics. Should I think much of them? Or should I take them at face value, and think that they are in fact encouraging said white boy to play that funky music for the rest of his life? They probably don't mean he can't stop to take the necessary breaks, like eating, sleeping, and going to the bathroom; I don't imagine they're condemming him to play until he is completely and utterly unable to do so any longer. That would be counter-productive. No, I imagine they're encouraging the man to play the music he loves for as long as he can, without causing physical or mental damage.
And I could be way off, and there could be some deeper meaning that has been found in these lyrics. I don't care. Anyhoo...

Is it at all weird that as soon as I saw this thread, I immediately thought of the Towelie episode of South Park? I know Towelie doesn't play this song...he actually plays Funky Town xD
But older school music like that is always completely awesome, and now I have Play that Funky music stuck in my head >_<
To close, are white boys funky? and in what sense?
