I'd like to note that I didn't villainize you, and agreed with your points. And there are three or four far more active Final Fantasy communities; of this, I am aware. The point I was making before is that it's difficult to retain NEW activity when there isn't any OLD activity. I never denied that this place is slow, but it's not dead.

We get surges every time we get the sponsored boost from Square Enix with contests and articles and such, but that lasts for a couple weeks and then peters out because the existing community is averaging 26 years old and 1.2 children each. Those of us who have stayed are not on the internet as much as we used to be. It's not that we don't love this place any more, we just don't live here.

I would LOVE to have this place up and running like it was a few years ago, but like I said at the VERY BEGINNING before the insults and trolling and counter-trolling (all of which I've opted to ignore until now), activity begets activity. You're right that "it is what it is" ISN'T a proper response to FIX the issue, but to assume I don't care is belligerent and ignorant.

Make your own contests, WORK on the community... In 2 months, I saw 0 efforts to stimulate activity from staff.

If activity begets activity, period, Forum Management 101, you should save everyone's time and throw the towel in.

You know what? Here's the thing.

It may not be as active as YOU like, and yes I stopped posting for awhile over some dumb shit that happened. It really made me weary of this place and the people who post here.

BUT. I have made excellent friends with a few members and I very much love them dearly. They know who they are (when are we double dating & having beers Pete!?)

Regardless of activity, or what goes on between members, this forum and site has its place here on the internet. I might be a newb, but I've always enjoyed posting here.

And when/if worse comes to worst, the members here are genuinely there for you. I know this first-hand.

You're bitching about forum inactivity and threatening to leave. In the timeframe of the OP and now, you should have been gone days ago.

Like Clint Eastwood said, if you're going to go, go. Stop whining and coming back. Leave. I'm sure there are people who will miss you, but life will go on. The forum will still be here. Your opinion on how crappy this place may be doesn't hold much value. The owners and admins aren't just going to say "Oh that person says we suck. We should listen to him and close it down".

& personally, I actually like having this smaller knit community. It gives all of us a chance to get to know each other on a personal level and make meaningful friendships.

And shocking as it may be, we all have lives outside of posting on forums.

If you're so upset about the way this place has gone, do what you say.

Actions > Words all day long.

I've seen this before where a forum that only has a small community is belittled because it doesn't have masses of posts, or it wasn't as active as "the glory days" and is called out for being dead. But here is the thing, this forum is not dead and I'm not saying that because I have emotional attachment to the forum, because I have far few posts to be emotionally attached. I am stating a fact it is not dead there are posts daily, it's small and slow but not dead.

I have said before a dead forum is completely different it has no life, no laughter, no friends. It might come alive for one day when people visit to see if it still around, but it will go back to being dead for months, no posts at all. This is not a dead and insulting people just because they are saying it is not dead is not cool.
