My sign is still gonna be Capricorn because it is only for recent newborns but if I was going to go by the new signs I would be a Sagittarius, although I look at my astrological signs just for fun some times.
I do think it is ironic that they just added Ophiuchus and at the moment I am playing again through IX and finished the Zodiac side quest where the Queen in Treno thinks that something is missing when you give her all 12 Zodiac coins and the 13th turns out to be Ophiuchus. Fun stuff.
You know the funny part? Astrologists (you know, the guys that supposedly figure your future based on the position of the starts, unlike astronomers who study stars themselves) knew this a long time ago.
And...they don't care. The publication (e-publication?) had nothing, apparently, and used a concept of adjustment that both astronomers and astrologists knew to hammer down the 13th sign pretty much no astronomers care about.
Also, funny quip: I'm a Scorpio, always been one. I was kinda bummed out about the change somewhere around 10 years ago when they published that on the local newspaper (at least as bummed as someone who doesn't care about horoscopes but that pokes fun at the elemental relationships between each), but then I noticed no astrologist cares, even the astrologist whom actually published that. Still insists I'm a weighing balance instead of a cool arachnid, but anyways... Isn't it funny that, while most signs get around 20 days, Scorpio gets only 6? You'd think Ophiuchus/Serpentarius (note that Ophiuchus comes from the Greek, while the rest of the signs are in latin, or else you'd get "Parthenos" for Virgo) would be on a neat range or perhaps relegated to special occasions, but they get prominence...
Still, there are three things you can't change: triskaidekaphobia (fear of number 13; that would make 13 signs instead of the neat 12), custom (remember what happened to the Julian calendar and its "adjustments"? People just stopped caring; ironically, the Julian calendar was the base, so it also means "just stop with changing all the stuff we know!"), and skepticism (since if astrologists can't get in agreement with each other, you really think they know your future?). Oh, and the Chinese Zodiac. Wood Ox and everything :P

I did try to look up what it means to be an Ophiucus or whatever when I had only read the first page and thought that they were changing everyone's signs, but I couldn't find anything describing the Ophiucus' personality. All I found were descriptions of the sign itself, and I was all like "I don't give a fuck! I wanna know what MY PERSONALITY IS LIKE!!" Then I finally found a page where it said there is no real description for the personalities of those individuals. And I was annoyed. Anyhoo...

I cared a ton about the Zodiac back in Highschool, but alot less as time went on. Its no big deal. All I know is I was a Scorpio but now im a Virgo.Quote:

I think it's all a lie. I've read how a lot of Zodiac descriptions are, and when I read about Scorpio (my sign), it hits the nail right on the head every time. And now they're saying I should be a Libra? I've met some Libras, and I know how they are with the descriptions I've read! Plus, my mom's an expert when it comes to astrology. She said this whole recent "Ophiuchus" thing was brought up by people who oppose astrology. I have no proof of this, but I'll look it up.
I also wanna point out that while I'm Catholic (and they oppose astrology, too), the descriptions in astrology are too accurate to be a mere coincidence.

Zodiac signs are a load of bullshit, established by a bunch of superstitious uneducated Babylonian astronomers, who decided to waste their lives looking at the sky, instead of actually attempting to do something with their lives. Then the idea was carried over through various cultures and generations, which eventually lead to the creation of horoscopes, which predict generic crap about people based off of their make-believe astronomical sign.
The Zodiac-Horoscope crap is a sociological experiment to see just how many people haven't the slightest clue what the Forer effect is. Generic descriptions don't describe anything. People want to believe that their horoscopes mean something personal, so they apply it and make it mean something personal.
To make a long rant short, the Zodiac signs, as well as astronomy as a tool to predict the future, is complete bullshit, and I couldn't care less what my new supposed sign is, nor do I care what my supposed former sign was.
Either way, no one knows how to spell my sign anyways. I'd be the new one but since it doesn't affect me, I'm still Sagittarius. I'd rather be an archer/centaur anyways. Though by year I'm also a tiger...in mythological terms I'd actually look pretty normal then, as an archer/centaur/tiger thing. Probably look like one of the Monster Rancher ones, actually. XD
I'm still a bit sad that I'm not a dragon but tigers are awesome too, and I'm still fire element so it all works out. Firebreathing archer/centaur/tiger thing, yeah!

In all reality, this doesn't affect anybody.
By that, I mean, your sign didn't even change. It affects a form of the zodiac that we have never adopted in the first place.
The zodiac we don't use is the one with the new sign, the zodiac we do use is unchanged.
