(I already wrote this thread... then I got logged out, and accidently gave an incorrect password... annoying.)

So anyhoo, the other day, we were cleaning lockers, because school is out for Summer. The school doesn't get the stuff back to the kids because it would be too hard, so I took home: a backpack; a camouflage jacket; a book on world war II; and a brand new Sansadisk 2 gb retractable jump drive, still in the package.

You'd be surprised at what these kids leave behind on a daily basis, just out in the hallway. Shoes, books, jackets, etc... It doesn't seem to matter to them, probably because Mommy and Daddy bought it for them, so they figure they can get them another one. My question is: when you were in school, were you like this with your stuff? OR if you are still in school... are you a little bastard?

From 6th grade on (and at times when backpacks weren't allowed outside of lockers) I always had my backpack with me, full of my stuff. I don't think I ever actually lost anything important, although a book got stolen out of my locker in 6th grade, because the kid I shared it with did something to the lock to make it open without the combo (probably why I stopped using my locker. My senior year of High School, I didn't even remember where my locker was.) Anyhoo...

yes hairbands. In highschool i had longer hair than i ahve now and always kept it in a ponytail.

I never leave something on purpose. Though, I lost my home keys a few years ago and until now I have a paranoia about loosing my things. Now I constantly check my pockets if I lost something. Freakin' annoying.

I would never leave anything on purpose... In fact if I ever did forget something I'd be devastated and feel so guilty. Because most the schools I've been to, if you leave something by the time you get back it's been taken.
Also some of the stuff that people leave behind... It is sickening... <_< The whole 'Mummy and Daddy' will buy another is so sad.
Money lost some of its value along the way. At least to the young ones ^~.

I love cleaning up lockers during the end of the school year. You can find a lot of neat stuff you can keep for yourself since all the junk are left behind.

No way, I wouldn't leave my stuff behind even if my life depended on it. I could use my supplies for next year and save money. I've never used my locker once until last year since my back started hurting from all the excess weight on my backpack. I found an easier way of organizing my subjects by putting all of them in one huge binder instead of having multiple folders.

If they don't want it, why not donate it to someone who needs it?

They actually do donate the stuff, I believe; they put all the clothing in bags and take them to Good Will. I think the other stuff, too.

I'm really paranoid in general about my stuff. "Is my guitar in a place where I won't accidentally sit on it" when I put it in the bag to take it somewhere. Stuff like that.

In high school, the only thing I really brought to school were my books, keys, cell phone and wallet. The Wallet, cell and keys all went in my pockets. And since I toyed around with my keys in my pocket a lot (no inuendo intended), I was sure they were there.

I remember forgetting my expensive calculator outside on a bench once. The next day it wans't there, but apparently one of the nuns (who lived close by) had seen it and the calculator managed to find its way to the principle. So yeah, I got it back.

But I'm really annoyed when I left something somewhere. People are dirty, you know.

I just remembered something that happened this year: I left my bag at a bar one day, and the next morning I went straight to that bar to go and check out whether it was still there, since it had my wallet in it and everything. I asked if they found a bag, but before I finished the sentence I saw it lying on a table. I said it was mine and started showing my ID that was in it, but the bartender was like "yeah, sure, take it". ^_^

I stopped using a locker after my Freshmen year and just knew what to bring to school everyday and left what I didn't need at home. But my school did that as well at the end of the year, people just either forgot, or don't care about losing their stuff. Hey if you are slick enough you can take some stuff for yourself.

My parents are cheap and only brought things when I absolutely needed it. My books were a mess and I had an ugly ripped bag for the most part at least in high school. I rarely used my locker because I just kept everything I needed in my car. I hate losing stuff, I've had so much of my stuff stolen over the years its extremely annoying.

All I needed was a backpack, I quit using lockers because the lock on it keeps getting opened for some reason (though I bet they didn't even expect that my valubles would be stowed there). Even if I have a backpack, all my valubles were on me, the safest place it should be.

My parents always made sure i got what i needed and did their best so i would feel bad if i ever left anything in my locker. And i stopped using lockers, they were inconvient for me? I never saw the appeal[everything looks better on tv haha]


. but no i am very far from spoiled, i'm 16, i pay for everything on my own, i work construction during summer break and I was never a kid who would beg and nag to get something. Those kids make me sick, i just fear for them when they get in the real world how terrible these spoiled rotten kids lives are going to be. :] sorry for being harsh

We didn't have all the expensive toys when I went to school.
Cell phones didn't exist, no mp3 players, pocket games were rare.
The internet was just a concept that nobody had actually seen... I don't recall ever losing anything.

Because if I did lose something - it probably couldn't be replaced.

Sadly, my school didn't have hallways or lockers. Infact, if you worked as a janitor there, you would hate life, seriously. Everything's outdoors(classes are in portables and building sections). And people kept clogging toilets in the bathrooms. We had a few occasions where the school flooded with water cause of plumbing issues.

I've never left any electronics behind simply because I never had my own cellphone or mp3 player.. or handheld games. However, I did have tendencies of leaving behind my drawing folders or main binders. Hell, I even left my entire backpack behind at one point. It usually happens when I get caught up in something and I shove my belongings in some spot I wouldn't think of very often.

I'd never leave something behind, especially if hard earned cash went into getting it. I respect my things, and would never expect anyone but myself to replace something if it got lost/damaged or stolen.

Fair enough, if you leave behind something you don't need/want anymore, then by all means do so. It would be nice if it was given to the right person though...

I'm just glad that I wasn't like that when I was a kid. When I actualy used a locker, before I just carried my backpack around, I only put my backpack, coat and books in there. If there was something I didn't want to forget or lose, I just left it in my backpack so I could grab it on my way out. Or if it was really expensive I just kept it home unless if I needed to use it for a class, then I kept it on me at all times.

Whenever I leave a place, wether it's home, a friend's place, a class room, a park.. whatever I just spent at least an hour at, I pat myself down. I pat myself getting out of my car, etc, just to make sure the things I left the house with in my pockets are still there.

If I ever pull something out of my backpack at school, it goes back in.

Though, I buy all of my own.... everything. Clothes, my backpack, school books, my cell phone, video games, my car, my tuition... etc etc, and considering I'm a broke ass, part time working college student in a truckload of debt, I don't exactly like wasting money.

So, no, I don't really leave things behind intentionally, and do my absolute best to make sure I don't forget something unintentionally.

I very rarely leave anything behind. I've been out of school for years now but I still clearly remember only leaving one item in my locker, and that was my Algebra II book at the end of the year. Obviously I didn't need it anymore.

I've always been like that though. I almost never lose track of things, no matter how cluttered my room gets or how much of a rush I'm in. Partly because I hate misplacing items but mostly because I'd have to replace the lost item myself. Nothing motivates personal responsibility quite like having to own up to the consequences yourself.

I am still in school (9th grade), and I think that kids these days are too stupid and lazy with their things. I have never lost anything in school (other than pencils), but some kids don't care! I think their parents need to quit spoiling their kids and make them get a job and buy their own stuff. (They may be less likely to loose something if they bought it themselves)

What I don't understand is why some kids bring certain things at school. School is a place to learn, so what do you need your PSP, or itouch? AND WHAT THE HECK DO YOU NEED A JUMP DRIVE FOR?!

Schools usually have computer labs these days where you type up your reports and shit.
That's why you need jump drives.

Oh. And my schools never had lockers, or if they did, when I went to school, they stopped using them and had us carry backpacks all day.

Yeah, I didn't have anything worth stealing at school most of the time. Apart from whichever portable game system I brought with me to play with instead of working. But that tended to stay in my pocket, and mummy and daddy didn't buy them for me. No, I had to do crappy night work to save up for that shit. I was kind of resentful of some of the other kids due to them having thousand dollar phones and stuff (private school where most seemed more or less well off) while I tended to just have whichever cheap phone was most decent (and still affordable) but it just meant that nowadays when I work fulltime and can afford near anything I'm much more happier with the stuff I can get and if there's something too expensive, no biggie, I have way too much shit to ever hope to get through anyways.

What I do find absolutely hilarious is that at this stage for a few years I'm actually one of the wealthier of my peers due to working fulltime from the beginning while they chose to study. Yeah, they'll get better paying jobs, but I'll likely still make the same as them or more as the hours I work are borderline insane half the time and security does pay more than some of the more qualified jobs. I also have good job security which is something I love.

I left school when I was seven, so I really have no experiences with that.

But I went to college for quite some time. I'm the kind of person that will take no more than neccesary. The only things of value I had with me was my phone (which is a very old Nokia and therefore not 'fashionable' enough to steal), an MP3 player (£15-£20 from the supermarket; it doesn't even have a proper brand name, that's how cheapo it was), and my wallet, which would contain no more than £10.

My art supplies cost quite a lot, though, but I always had it all kept by my side. Not only that but I had a couple of friends in college and we used to watch over each others' shit; some of the people were thieves, but I never had anything stolen. I never shared my equipment with anybody else but my friends, either. I did once or twice, but never again after one substitute teacher decided she'd use half of my dark sienna paint, which was of a set I was given for my birthday... stupid cow. You don't just use a whole ****ing blob of paint for no ****ing reason.

But no. I never left anything behind. Oh, except for one of my charcoal pictures which they found so impressive that they put on display in the hallway. When I left college, that was the only thing that I didn't take with me, and mostly because I didn't really mind them using it again.

My schools didn't have lockers. Same situation as Violet, probably because we live pretty much in the same area. Had to carry our backpacks with a bunch of books and stuff all day. I didn't mind, though. Even if I had a locker, I'd probably have stuck with my trusty backpack. I don't trust such things, and it's too much of a hassle.
