I think the melee dudes may have more fun. Never been to one as there isn't a sufficient stock of geeks like me here, but from what I can draw, mages sit there and make wooshing and PSHAW FISHT BLAM sounds while flailing a stick about, while the melee guy smacks him about with a stick

Agreed. Nerds show interest. It's geeks that get less because they'd rather save the virtual Princess before dealing with the boyfriend/girlfriend... unless they spot an orc on the way to the bedroom.

Mages are far more fun. Think about it: you can't blow shit up with a sword, can you? Also, who wants to try and run around with 20+kgs of armour on their back? Mages get lighter gear.
