Is this to increase activity? Or to take what little activity we've had recently and dump it all into one specific place?
THERE ARE BUT TWO RULES FOR THIS THREAD:
- All general forum rules must be followed, EXCEPT for:
• No spammy content; this means spam is allowed, BUT try to maintain conversations when posting frequently
• No double posting; this is allowed if the thread has not been posted in for a while and you would like to change the subject- Be courteous to one another (poking and prodding is A-OK, but harassment is not!)
Please feel free to pursue general conversation, without worry of sticking to a topic, allowing discussions to flow naturally. Treat it like a giant chat room that you can throw random things into.
That being said, allow me to kickstart this business.
How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? Cite examples.

The red/white/blue obviously so you can support 'Merica.
Candidly? Ideally the first one. If the second one happens, it goes away. We all kinda agreed this place was way more active back in the says if the spam thread. Figured harnessing some of that wouldn't be terrible.
Also, the 'murica ones are absolutely the way to go. 'MURICA!!!
But really, the second set of shoes are nicer.

I'll keep that in mind.
So why do you think activity has been down for a good while now? I blame stuff like facebook.
Part of it is social media, perhaps. Easier to hold quick little conversations. Part of the reason for reviving the spam thread to some extent.
Another part, more importantly, is that the core userbase is all grown up, and we haven't really done much to throw ourselves back out there to attract new members. Partnering with Square-Enix should help a bit, plus the continued attendance at press events.
Furthermore, when was the last time a major entry to the series released? Exactly.
That was a lot of words for a "spam" part, haha. Go conversation! (this is totally the thing I envisioned this thread revival for though)

Check it out. The Fall of Spira is finished!
Also Fluffy, I thought this could be the type of thing to get some of us more involved with interacting with our community (i.e. each other, and new members!) again. I lurk too much. I can bullshit in here while at work, and then have more interest in what you guys all talk about when I get home, and actually contribute to other areas again.

Actually I usually come here for video game discussion, but there's little to none of that going on. I've been posting a bit more in hopes of starting some, but it's usually the same 2-3 people who join in. To be honest, there are better places to do this. Other places get 50-100 pages worth of posts on games I want to discuss. Here, there are usually less than 5 replies.
Oh well, at least I tried.
Just need to generate interest again. The website looks awesome these days. Need to get more of those viewers over into this side.

Does anyone have any good tips for actually getting up when their alarm goes off. I'm late for work again as I tap this. (That's right, I tap this.)
Furthermore, what's a good way to get yourself off any kind of soda? I reckon they should all have a picture of their sugar content in cubes on the back. But in lieu of that, how do you fight the urges?
I just set my alarm twenty minutes before I need to be up and snooze twice.
I substituted soda with unsweetened teas (black and green both) to get my caffeine fix, and lost almost fifty pounds in about nine months. Green tea can also be caffeinated, and unless it's got some crazy flavor that adds sugar, has a really low carb count.

Alpha, If you happen to own an Android Phone:- get Sleep as Android, if you place it on your bed whilst sleeping it will measure your motion and wake you up, up to half an hour before your alarm time at the point when waking you is most effective (i.e. not deep sleep).
It's hard to come off soda when the only other non-caffinated and low carb alternatives are like water, juice and milk. They need to make water more interesting.

I thought they did that? Carbonated Waters, with different flavors?
EBG
Most of those are pretty high in sugar though. I think Alpha was looking to get away from that.
Ice water with a squirt of fresh lime juice though - just enough flavor, no sugar needed.

Anytime anyone tries to promote more interest in the forum with the idea of gaining the attention of new members, they get shut down almost as if the current members dont want any new ones. If you want to know why the forum is dead, blame the currrent members, not the people who arn't members.
Isn't it just a terrible irony?

Alpha: You might try something like agreeing with yourself to cut out soda completely for a week under "detox" (or whatev) pretenses. That way, you know it's only a week, and you can have one when you're done. By then, you may realize that it wasn't as great as you remembered. I did something similar with processed sugar/wheat. Had none of it for two weeks and then had a bunch of no-bake cookies for the Superbowl... felt awful. And my taste buds the next day were thrown off. The last two weeks, everything has tasted and smelled amazing. Not after my cookie binge. That was enough to make me realize that keeping processed sugar to an absolute minimum really is what works best for me. As for soda in particular, I just sort of... stopped. I don't remember deciding to do it, it was sometime after high school/during college. I just stopped viewing them as an option.
I'd say go to a nice supermarket and pick out some awesome fruit for yourself. Your favorites and stuff you haven't tried before. Eat those instead of having a soda, or make a smoothie out of them. It'll just be for a week (go for 7 whole days), and you'll get to try new things. And your taste buds might adjust to the point of finding a soda to be too much.
A favorite snack of mine is to take some fresh peanut butter (2 or 3 tbsp), some almond milk (just a splash to help mix), some raw honey, unsweetened coconut, and some dry oats... mix them together and then add some dark or semi-sweet chocolate chips (only like a tbsp). It's high in calories because of the nuts, but I like to do this before workouts and I eat so low-calorie the rest of the day that idgaf. It definitely satisfies my sweet tooth and it isn't over-processed and ridiculous. Unrelated to soda, but there's a new snack anyway.
As for your alarm, I usually plug my phone in at the end of the bed, that way I have to sit up to hit snooze. Usually if I can just get myself to sit up, I'm more likely to get out of bed. Because once I sit up, my body remembers that I have to pee.
Curious?

For me, I just think of saving money from not buying soda. After a while, you may not even desire it very much anymore. I often just go for water now.
