Sorry if it is a bit boring, I don't want to leave out any details.
Let me give you my scenario: Yesterday, my Marketing class took a field trip to a college for some business convention. After the trip ended, we stopped the bus at a Wal-Mart parking lot and I had a choice to make: eat at Chick-Fil-A or Taco Bell. I chose Taco Bell, where I ate my lunch and went back to school.
As I was looking over my change, I noticed a strange looking coin. It said "five cent peice" but I never saw a nickel like it. It had a buffalo on one side and the portrair of a Native American on the other. When I got home, I did some research and found out that it was an Indian Head nickel. These coins were made between 1913 to 1938 and are apparantly rare as only 1 out of 25,000 nickels in circulation are Indian Heads. Excited, I researched the worth of one of these and, much to my surprise, some are worth as much as $1,200.
Let's see, one lazy-ass 16 year old with a nickel possibly worth $1,200??? Yes!!! However, there was a small note on the website I was looking at. If the date on the nickel was scratched out or faded, it was pretty much worthless. I nervously looked at where the date was supposed to be and......it was completely obliterated.....
Despair....
Anybody else have an Indian Head or something else that had potential to be valuable, only to have it mercilessly ripped from your hands??

I used to collect State quarters and other rare coins, but my dad spent them because he needed them for something I was never really upset about it, but now that I think on it more, I collected a lot of coins!!! >=(
He never told me what for though....? hmmmm
I remember teasing him saying that he probably used the money to pick up a hooker haha. Wait, was that a joke?

I once had a collection of coins that total worth was over $1400, yet one day, during school, our house was broken into.
Things that were stolen from my house include my brother's ADHD medication, a six pack of pepsi in the fridge, my dad's $600 chainsaw, and yes, my $1400 coin collection. It was the biggest shock to me, since most of these coins were hand-me-downs from my grandmother, who had passed away the previous year.

However, my most valuable Barbie had the box ripped to shreds. It happened when I was away at school, and my youngest brother got hold of this particular Barbie. He wanted to play with it, so he proceeded to tear her out of the box. When I got home, there were pieces of cardboard and plastic everywhere, and I saw that she was lying on the floor. I don't know how he got to this particular Barbie doll, since she was up on the highest shelf.
That's the only thing I can really think of.

Well I have the black label FFVII which is worth over $500 so I went to sell apparently if you do not have the booklet for it then it worth jack shit...So I went home to take the booklet out of my greatest hits version of the game, guess what happened next the booklet for it was gone too. I searched all over my apartment for it and could not find it, so I went to my mom's house about twenty minutes from apartment and searched all over her damn house for it and I never found it. So now I have a valuable game that I can never sell for a high price cause I dont have the damn booklet...
Well i happen to have some old freaking coins in my bedroom right now that i'm gonna sell. One is worth $100 Yippie. Also i have my pokemon cards from LONG------ time ago. I didn't know this until now that if you kept them in mint condition then now you can sell legendarys that they gave out when you went to the pokemon movies for like $150 each on ebay.I happen to have a few.....
I'm not a numismatist, but I do have a big silver dollar that my grandpa left for me.
The title of this thread made me think of those fake lottery tickets. I guess I just have those on the brain. One of my dumbass friends gave that to an acquaintance, while I watched on. The title of this thread was pretty much his reaction.

Well now Ive just remebered that my cousin has ff7 and is going to sell it.I found out moments ago.She won't sell it to me.
I don't really collect anything except for wheat pennies. I don't think they're worth any more than, well, a penny, but I like to have them. Kind of cool to think where they've been in 50-60 years of existence.
As for almost being rich. Well, back when I was 12 or 13, my dad bought some lottery tickets and we missed about 36 million dollars by one number. He wound up making about $2500 after taxes, which is nice, but it's more than a few million short of what we could've had. I think it was pick 5 and then pick the bonus number. We missed the bonus number.
