I'm the one who hides in the shadows and reads the things you say to one another. I watch your drama, and choose not to get involved. It reminds me of when I worried about forum politics. Some of it makes me laugh, because it's really silly; sorry for laughing at you behind your back, but if I laughed at your face, it would probably piss you off, and add more to the drama.

It's kind of a never-ending cycle; my first year or two here, one of the older members made a post commenting how they didn't want to get to know any new members. I wouldn't go that far with myself. I wouldn't actively avoid getting to know any of you, but chances are I'm probably not going to seek you out, either. There have been so many people who have come through here; so many times when I just start getting used to a member, they leave, and when they come back, I had barely gotten to know them before, so I'd have to start over again with them. I'm generally too lazy to do that, particularly when they've taken no effort with me, either. So I pretty much stick to the older users who are still around.

I think the year of '06 was an anomaly me; for some reason or another, I started over again here, and actually got to know a bunch of new people. They've mostly all left, though.

So here's the conclusion: TFF is not better or worse than it used to be. New members have simply come and gone. It's not as much fun for me anymore, not because of the effort of the individual, the staff, or the body of TFF; it's because of me. I don't interact with the newer members; I generally have different interests, or I see a thread that I've seen a hundred times before and don't feel like to responding to it again. Furthermore, I've found that there's about a fifty percent chance that when I do post in a thread, no one's going to respond to me anyway, maybe because I have a different style thinking or something. Plus, there's no internet at my house, so I can't exactly a lot of time talking to people on MSN. And I'm lazy. I am Trent Lane personified when it comes to these forums, "heh heh *cough* *cough* heh." I'm probably a little jaded and apathetic too.

So, I am open to new members who want to get to know me. That's how it is for me; I don't know if it's the same for other old members. But I exist, and so do they. Poke at them if you want to get to know them. Maybe they'll respond. Or bite. It might be akin to waking up a sea lion, or a hibernating bear; you might want to be careful. Or, y'know, you'll get no response at all...

(Should this go in member business? I dunno. Oh well. Yell at me.) Anyhoo...

Aside from that I must admit I have noticed alot of your posts as of late, atleast the few you have chosen to partake in. Given I have been here for almost a year I still lurk in the shadows of your 7, so there for compared to you I am still new here. I just wanted to take the time to properly introduce myself and say hi.

I am glad you came from the shadows to make this post and the others that you have made. I hope to see some more activity out of you because I find most of your posts very interesting.

I can more or less understand the not wanting to get to know newer members bit, honestly I don't know any of the members here if they weren't around in 2006 or before. In 2005 is when I actively got to know many people, aside from that, it's always just been... whatever. I rarely remember names, even if I read a post from some name I don't know that I thought was good.

I'd like to second what Taco says too. I'm always open to meet new members. Its sad considering I didn't even know my twin sister had an account here (she's Lunasa). I can't keep track of my own flesh and blood, so you have to make an effort here, comment on a post, leave comments on a users page, hell debate and disagree [intelligently]. (I really wish we still had a rep system). I just ask that when you type, its some form of English, WITH correct casing and WITH some logical sense of spelling, so that the chances of me paying attention are greater, because I really do want to get to know you. here is a example:

OMG/omg - Fine, this seems to be a standard abbreviation for internet communication

Meier Link - So yeah, I'm a "Vampire of the Ancients," if instead of being immortal, they're 20-somethings working part time, trying to figure out what they want to do with life. It's a whole lot interesting from my perspective, heh. It's fun to look at the forums that way though, isn't it? I kinda used to do the same thing, but for a while now I've kinda just taken the forums at face value; buncha web pages where people interact with one another (the jaded thing, again.) Have you been any forums before this? I've read a lot of your posts too, so I know that you're actually a bit older than me and married, right? More life experience!

Yes I have been married for over 2 years and have a kiddo (2) too, I am 26 and my wife is 22.

I have been on many forums through out the years, basicly ranging from games to books to movies and gore. I have had a weird fasination with death and the unknown my whole life, just thought I would state that after admiting to being a member of a gore site. I have been a mod in a couple forums and spent my time looking from the outside in also. It is quite fun to do, especially seeing you can see how people interact with out ever being seen. Sad thing it doesn't really matter what site you are a part of everyone seems to act the same haha.

Well most of my posts are there, largely do to Graphic Designers Inc. and BoD. I only have 991 posts at the moment, and I've been on the forums over 6 years. My sister is going to out-post me eventually and she joined last year. I'm more of the reading type. I feel if my point is already addressed, there isn't really any reason to put my two cents in. Reading makes you learn tons about the members here which is why I know lots and interact with some of them. I'm almost to 1,000 posts so I'll have a party when that happens ^_^.

I'm 18 years old, going to Potsdam University for Vocals, Theater, and Computer Design. Hard to juggle, but I'm managing lol.

Personally, I was very active during my first year here... then I came and went every so often, and now is my first time in months popping back!

I have to say I have more of a social life now than I did back then, plus university work, job hunting and various other bits and bobs come up. To be honest theres no real reason for being less active since it doesnt really pop up into my mind. One thing I know that makes me not post is how the same topics come up a lot. And i'm the kind of person who will only talk if I feel like it, and don't like saying the same thing again and again. Although not one of the true old-schoolers, i've seen some cool people come and go, however some I keep in contact with. Many of these people ive met over word games and RPing.

Now that i'm once again here, I'm going to try to meet any call new people who have snuck here while i've been gone.

I've always had this name, and the same Rock Howard avatar for the longest time over the six years. But speaking of years, how old were some of you old members upon first joining this site? Let's see, I was 14 when I first joined, now I'm 22. I went from being a high school freshie to now being a college grad... time freakin flies.

As most of you don't know, when I first joined, I was lionheart2001, and then Tony Leone, and then finally good ole Pete. The avatar hasn't changed in about 5 years, and I don't plan on changing it. All we need is for everyone from old school tff to come back, like Nick (cloud711), spekkio, edgar figaro, starsoldier, omegagear, nightshade and true omega, and we could really start talking about how shit was in the past. I also wish the old Emerald Knights would come back. Rinny, Simara, Sierra and The Creator.

First became a mod/co leader of Emerald knights within a month of being here, then mod of FFVII forum, then General chat, then Super Mod, then betrayed Emeral knights and joined the Evil Bad Guys, then made Korova and Spekkio make me joint leader with them, Moderated the forums with an iron fist in accordance with the rules, then began to hate the place and then retired from my super mod position. Why i add this is my name changed pending on my status, Phoenix when i was a noob, EvilNix soon after i became mod, and finished up with nix when i retired o_O

My activity dwindled from that point on, lol my most active forum still to this day is "The highbridge"...

And yeah, back in the day, we all modded with iron fists. It's a shame we don't see it anymore, but at this stage of our lives, it's kinda pointless.


For those of you that don't know, I was a mod for a while back in 2001-2002, when I modded humor, clubs and general chat. After a while I was made an S-Mod, where I crushed spammers along with nix. I was also a leader of the Emerald Knights, after nix left it, and eventually I was made an admin of this very site. It lasted for 3 days, when I gave a shit ton for gil to everyone in an aim chatroom, and then I decided to resign from everything because it wasn't worth the hassle. Props to all of the mods and admins who've been doing the job for years; it's a bitch to do and takes up way too much free time.
