Honestly, I don't really see the bias in this one.
The bare bones of the story was that the guy was in the water and refused one type of rescue, then decided to accept another. That's a little strange.
Secondly, there is no claim refuting that an officer was attacked. It was clearly stated that the officer was treated for facial and bodily injuries.
Also, where are all of the witnesses who would be backing up the family?
The one thing that makes this story look strange is that his family claims he was such a peaceful and loving dude. But, everyone's family says that. Of course they'll say that when there's a lawsuit pending. I'm sure the Columbine kids' parents said the same exact thing "Klebold and Harris' parents apologized for their sons' actions. Klebold's father was surprised at his son's behavior. He said his son was "normal" and also his best friend."

Everything that happened in between the actual rescue where he got onto the boat, and the point where he was shot is heresay, aside from what was reported in the story. The unfortunate thing is that there was no third party witness to determine if words were exchanged or anything.
Of course the lawyer will say the things he did. He's trying to solidify his case of police bias.
Paramedics were delayed because there was no need to call them immediately. It might've been poor judgment, but the only thing that would've happened is that they would've told the cops that the guy was dead. PLUS, the paramedics don't need to know what happened, other than the fact that the guy was shot and killed for attempting to take an officers weapon.
You never know though. To me, it sounds like it just could've been one big suicide attempt. He could've thought the jump into the water was gonna kill him, then when it didn't, he tried to drown just by refusing help, and then when he saw the cops, figured "oh well if there's one surefire way to get killed, it'll be to strike one, and attempt to take his weapons." It's called suicide by cop.
I also doubt that the medical examiner would lie about the autopsy and gunshot wounds. If this case is going to court, you can bet there would be a new examiner and the reports would be carefully looked over. I also doubt the ME would put their job on the line for a case like this.
