I still think it's stupid to watch videos of other people playing a game. I always thought the fun was in playing the game yourself.

But if you can capitalize on it and get stupid people to pay to watch you play, good for you.

I used to think the same, but its a good way of checking out a game before you buy it, if you're unsure you will like it. I've saved alot of time/money from wasting money on games this way, sea of thieves being the most recent.

Also if you're just getting into a multiplayer game, its a good way to learn tricks/tips from someone whos skilled in the game already.

And some streamers can be fun/entertaining.

Saying that id only watch streams if im tired as fuck or dont have much time to play a game, or if im eating or whatever..

If i want to check out a game before buying

There isn't a whole lot that can be done to prevent people from taking stupid people's money. You read history, right?

I like to read a bunch of reviews from various sources, then I'll specifically read the worst of the user reviews. The majority of them are usually dumb people, but some of them bring up good points and usually really go into depth about the things they gripe about. I actually wind up doing this for everything I buy these days.

When I was in Arkansas and far away from everyone, I got into watching Game Grumps, because their sense of humor was similar to my friends' back home. Consequently, now that I'm back in Oregon, I haven't kept up very well with the Grumps. It was an escape from a life I hated, with nostalgia (when they played games I liked) and fill-ins for friends who were hundreds of miles away.
