So, how many of you have ever taken a trip to a casino and done a little gambling? What's your favorite games? Do you hang out with your buddies and place bets on things like sports, card games, or whatever else there is? Ever win anything?

I've only been to a casino once in my life. This was sometime last year, and it was on a ladies' night where every lady in the place got ten bucks to play on just by being there. I went with my friend who loved to play the slot machines, so I basically just did the same. Didn't win anything, but I only played the ten bucks that was given to me, so I technically didn't lose either (that's my view, and I'm sticking to it!). I would have liked to have played some blackjack/21, but I was nervous about approaching the table because it was my first time being in a casino, so I just hung back and watched for a bit. If I ever go back (doubt it would be very soon... ) I think I may try my hand at it, mostly just to say that I did.

I do a little bit of gambling, got into it because on my high school baseball teams a lot of the weekend in the fall when we weren't playing every weekend we would get together and play some Texas Hold'em. Even in college ball when we were in hotels during road trips the times that we had off we would organize in a room or two and play Hold'em for a couple of hours. When I go to the casino though I stay away from the slots, I just feel like that is just flushing money down the toilet lol, Not saying that Hold'em isn't based on luck as well but I get to play the other players at the table and have different strategies so I know luck is definitely involved, like it is with any gambling, but I at least feel like I could tilt the tables a little in my favor at the poker table instead of at the slots.

I turn 21 soon. My parents are going to take me gambling, my dad is going to be giving me pointers for video poker I think. I am more into BlackJack and Texas Hold Em. I want to start getting into it.

I haven't tried any of the other games, like Keno, Craps, Roulette, etc. but I love trying out Slots whenever I have the cash. I prefer not to waste too much money on it, though, because my luck is terrible ;_;. I tried all sorts of different Slots,but it doesn't matter what machine it is, they're all the same with a different theme. There was one called "Cleo", and it was like.. voodoo theme.. probably my favorite one out of all of 'em.

If I have some spare change I'll play the slots (and I'm known for seeming to win on any spin I pay for with change I found on the floor, weird coincidence) but my usual game is Black Jack. I've never lost more than I've made at Black Jack and it's gotten me kicked out of a few places when I've caught too much attention winning.

I felt the same way. My friend made pretty good off of a few while we were there, especially considering that she mainly plays the penny machines. I didn't have that kind of luck though... It was kind of disheartening sitting next to her while she was winning and I was losing. Ah well. Me and Violet must have the same kind of luck...which is to say next to none at all.

Oh yeah, there were themed slots at the casino I went to as well. And yeah, they really didn't add anything except visual appeal I guess, but I thought the rainforest themed one that I played was pretty cool.

My older brother tried teaching me how to play poker. I wasn't really paying attention, so I don't remember anything that he taught me. I'm not good at bluffing anyway, so that's probably a game that I would avoid playing.

EDIT:: @ Silver- Did they think that you were counting the cards or something? I hear that if casinos get suspicious of players doing that, they can ban them from ever playing BlackJack.

I've actually played a game of poker with a group of friends using the poker chips that come along with it. I've also played another game which involves betting on an answer to each trivia question (again using fake poker chips). Does that count in the way of gambling?

I'm not entirely sure if this counts as gambling, but everyone in my office contributes $1 to a pool of money twice every week. We spend the money on Powerball tickets; any winnings are put into a kitty. We figure if we get the biggest jackpot, the entire department will quit at once and the whole company will be screwed.

...not really, but it's kinda funny to think about even though we know it will never happen.

I like Blackjack. I've never played for money though, just for the fun of playing during long lunch breaks at college.

Only time I think I have used money on gambling is when I bought a lottery ticket. It's £1 per row of numbers, and I won £10 from just one row. That bought me my magazine and a few snacks.

EDIT:: @ Silver- Did they think that you were counting the cards or something? I hear that if casinos get suspicious of players doing that, they can ban them from ever playing BlackJack.

It's quite possible. I don't consciously make an effort to count cards but I do seem to have an awareness of some of the cards I'd seen previously which does factor into my choices.

The main thing is really playing games with fewer decks and making an educated guess how likely you are to bust as well as how likely others are. I do get some busts myself but I do tend to leave with more money than I started with.

^I guess if you play long enough, or if you're familiar enough with a deck of cards, then I suppose something like that would come easier for you. I don't think it's fair that you can be asked to leave just because you know what you're doing in a game like that, but I suppose if I was losing too much money to someone like that, I wouldn't want them around for long either.

Anytime you make a wager and run the risk of losing something, you're making a gamble, so I would say yep.

Ahaha... I forgot about lottery tickets until Entity's post reminded me! My youngest bro got some for his 21st b-day. I think he wound up winning 20 bucks, though I think that much was spent just to get them. xD

My friends and I have poker night once a week. $40 buy in.

Other than that I put money on sporting events. UFC fights, NBA games, MBL games have brought me in a good sum of money this season thus far.

I'm to young to gamble legally, but my friends and I tend to have spare time between classes and like to play card games. I think the most I've won was like $5 in a game of Schietskoff, that game is designed for card counters lol, and I like to play blackjack. Oh! I just remembered, I won $250 theoretical dollars playing Texas Hold'em with poker chips, but then in the next game turned it into -$275

I've been gambling on international waters on a cruise ship once, and won 25 bucks! I started with 5 so I came out ahead on that for sure.

If you want to win money at a casino, I'd go for craps. Once you learn the ins and outs of the game, it's apparently the one game that the house doesn't have a big advantage over, which means that it's the one you are least likely to lose a lot on. and with slots, it's all just a computer giving a result as soon as you press a button, the bells and whistles and stuff are just there to make it feel like you have control over the machine.

Gambling is pretty fun every once in awhile. I tend to get in a phase of playing blackjack every once in awhile and make money for like 2-3 trips in a row, but after I go negative in one night I dont go for another month or so lol. My friend is really good at blackjack and taught me how to play as a team so we end up winning more than we lose.

Poker is kinda ehh for me though. I tend to do either really good or really bad at it. I know that a lot of players do this but I feel that I am a lot more streaky than most poker professional players by far. If only I knew their ways lol.

Played the best game of Texas bout a year ago for a mates house warming it was 5 bucks buy in, it was a knock out game and winner takes all. It was down to myself and another bloke and neither was giving any hint of losing we were pretty even then my wife sobered up and we had to go home haha so we split the winnings haha.

Love the slots but I know when to stop best I have ever done was $300 from a ten I think, don't gamble anymore though have more important things to use the money on ie as in kids haha.

Never ever gamble on dogs or horses you have more chance of getting hit by lightning or a coconut, hey what can I say I am a probability man although the odds on the slots aren't good either.

I've always preferred blackjack to poker and I like roulette because of the spinning wheel.

I'll play poker and have some beers with my friends every now and then. The most anyone ever loses is like 10 bucks. Other than that, I'm kind of against gambling in casinos. If I'm gonna piss my money away on something, it'll be either to a charity or for something I'll actually use... or beer. Plus, I just don't wanna give my money to the natives.

The law clearly states, those who aren't 18 or older are not allowed to gamble, though it seems the law doesn't really count for the region I live in. Here you can gamble no matter the age you are, as long as you have some money in your pockets you're ready to go.

I myself have placed multiple bets as a kid, I still do, and that's the only gamble I'm interested in. I put money on football (soccer), nothing serious, twice per week and it's never over 2 euros, I wasn't exactly born under a lucky star so I never really expect anything to win, I just do it to make the matches even more interesting. I did won couple of times, mostly scrap, though couple of years ago, right before Christmas I did hit a big time, on one euro I won 200.

Gambling and I have a long history. Back in high school I use to play skat (31) for money, food, pencils, hell anything really. As we got older we played poker at people houses, or the dreaded Acey Deucey. When we hit 18 we wasted a lot of nights at the reservations casino. At 19, since I live 25 minutes from Canada and Niagara Falls we went to our first real casino. Since turning 21 I have been to Vegas twice always a good time. Done my fair share of betting on sports too always makes it fun even if you hate the sport it gives you a rooting interest.

As for games I like to play when I go to casino's it is all about the craps and blackjack tables for me. When in Vegas I definitely do a lot of sports betting but never really at home outside of with my friends. I have been known to play darts or pool for a drink or something at a bar too. But I don't really call that gambling...

I'm not much for casino setting gambling, but I've been a card shark since I was 12 or so. I started out jus playing simple games like 5 card stud with my dad for fun, no bets. Then one day, when my family was on a vacation is Texas over Xmas break along with severla family frends, I joined a game of pokerwith a few of my uncles, it was my first time gambling, and I cleaned em all out. Wasn't a huge pot by any means, but for a 12 year old, winnin' 50 bucks is always nice. From there on out, I was hooked on it. I mean really, making money for laying games? How kickass is that? I tried some casino gambling once and only once. Went to three different table, and every deck I saw that day was ice cold; lost my taste for casinos after going about 100$ in the hole my first time, haven't really been back since, but I'm still a card shark.
