Ever lose something expensive?

So I ordered some expensive film for a view camera, about €170 euro worth of film.
It finally arrived. I had to go pick it up in a town that was nowhere near my hometown. A 45 minute drive.

Then when I took the train to the city I live in during the week, I ****ing left the package with the boxes of film in the railway station.
In the end I went back and my brother had gone to see if they had it still, and they did.

So I almost lost €170 worth of film. Felt like an idiot and was happy when I got it back.

What did you stupidly (almost) lose?

I thought I'd lost my phone, my iTouch and my purse with £80 in it the other day. That's around £400 worth of stuff. I went out with the boyfriend, came home slightly drunk, used the bathroom and went to bed with a film on in the background.

I woke up the next morning not remembering where I put them. I turned my room and part of the house upside down before I found them behind the blender in the kitchen, under a tea towel and a pile of mail that someone had dumped there. Honestly thought I'd left it on the bus, or it fell out of my jacket, or something - didn't think it'd be in my house!

My High School Diploma is somewhere in my parents' house, lost to the sands of time. Put it down somewhere the day I got it, don't remember ever seeing it again. Had to use an official letter from the school when I joined the AF. I guess a diploma isn't expensive per se, but it's important. Think it'd cost like 50 bucks or something for them to print me a new one. Anyhoo...

I lost many cell phones. .. Mostly when I lived on my mom & dad's boat back in '04/'05.. My poodle saw someone fishing at the end of the dock and took off, I had the antenna to my phone in my teeth. It fell out and instead of just breaking apart, it bounced 4 times, finally landing in the water. I dropped several phones in the river.

I lost a $75 Coach wristlet - I bought it at the Coach outlet near where I live in Nashville, so normal retail, it would've been maybe $150-ish.

I've lost the same game cart for my DS Lite on two separate occasions. The second time I lost one I also lost the DS itself. Found it like 6 months later in a luggage bag.

I've lost some gold and diamond rings when I was in high school. Took them off to wash my hands, and forgot to put them back on. Of course when I realized they weren't on me, they were already loooong gone. :/

I lost my very first iPod (a second-hand, pink iPod mini) a week after getting it by leaving it on the train. I had hoped someone would've handed it in, but no dice.



I didn't pay for it, and I was too young to have any real money for myself, so I wasn't too put out by it.

Other than that, I can't actually think of anything. I have found other people's wallets and cellphones a few times; always handed them in of course.

Probably the most expensive item that USED to belong to me was a mountain bike worth about $300 at the time and it was only a few months old.
I got it for my birthday because I was full into bikes at the time rode everywhere, school, work etc it had front and back suspension and was an awesome black and orange suave bike.
Used to lock it up with a lock that was so vandal proof that I was always frightened to loose the key because there was no other way of getting it off. Anywho I made the stupid decision to go and buy a chain combination lock when I wasn't going to have it out of my sight for long. Anyway came back to it and it was gone I was so devastated.
