It's that time again folks. Today's topic is a little known story called.

The Fall of Pete and Rise of Cesar.

Back in the Summer of 2003, there was a member named Pete (or maybe it was Tony Leone or lionheart2001, I can't remember when I changed it for good). He was a real go-getter, on the fast track to the stars. Starting out in proverbial mail room, modding the Humor forum back in the Summer of 2001. He worked his way up to Super-mod by 2002 and in the subsequent fallout from The StarSoldier Saga, he had become the newest admin.

Admin work wasn't cut out for Pete. He hated the bureaucracy and the day to day shenanigans of changing people's names, giving them access to areas and resolving issues that couldn't be resolved by the mods. That wasn't for him; he liked to be in the action, chasing down spammers, putting the proverbial boot in the ass.

One fine day, Pete was in an AIM chat with several other TFF members. He decided that because he was friends with everyone there, that he would bestow upon them a gift. A gift of 10000 gil apiece. Back then, gil was earned by posting and could be used to purchase different effects for usernames. The possibilities were truly grand.

Merlin the long-winded had discovered the issuance of such monopoly money (not to be confused with european currency) and was quite furious. He had accused Pete of several things, one being corruption.

A trial of sorts ensued, and instead of standing his ground, Pete simply said "fuck it" and de-admined himself. Later he was stripped of everything but his beloved Emerald Knights clan leadership.

In short, it was one hell of a weekend.


One of the recipients of said gil was a fresh faced young lad, perhaps known to some as LocoColt04. In Pete's "debriefing" with Merlin, he had made it clear to him that the young Colt had done no wrong in receiving the lofty gil award, and was a phenomenal candidate for moderator. After not much convincing, Cesar was awarded a moderator position in the power vacuum created by Pete's dismissal.

I'm pretty sure you were Lionheart back then too since I remember calling you that... but then I always called you that. But I think someone called you that as well, so probably.

I could add to this story, but it's not quite so peachy for either of us. That thing and everything leading up to it sucked.

I had no idea that's how Cesar got his spot up there. You might be right, Peter. This is one of your best TFF ideas yet.

When I first joined, Pete was Tony_Leone actually. But I do remember lurking through all the shenanigans involved, and it was a funny weekend nonetheless!

I vaguely remember a Tony Lenone or something to that nature. Ever since people have been able to change their usernames more than they change their underwear I can't keep up anymore.

back when i joined pete was cool...and a member called Mike had a crazy sig that ****ed with the layout....which i stole from source code and really ****ed with it....then got warned and banned for possibly the 18th time....

but of course back in the day i was much younger and had fun ****in around with people along with Jew and ecks and lazer

One time, I wore an orange bikini and made a lot of friends really quickly. By that, I mean there was a picture of a friend and myself taken over the summer and we had gone swimming that day, so... bikini. In PYP. I'm less proud of that than you'd think, haha. In fact, it's kind of embarrassing. Still, that's a little of my personal TFF history that a few others might recall.

Oh! Also, when there were asses all over TFF. We need Ecks to come back and write about that.

Y'all remember when there was a cyber mutiny cause the mods would just ban members randomly, so there was a group of non-staff that would work in the same nature as an ombudsman....We had our own special forum like Mods have theirs (or had, who knows nowadays..)

Also, remember when the hidden/locked forums were not locked nor hidden for some reason? and everyone realized staff plotted against members and all that nonesense!

Remember when there were embattled feuds and cliques and people actually posting...remember when every few weeks there'd be a forum update....

REMEMBER WHEN PEOPLE ACTUALLY CARED ABOUT FINAL FANTASY! I posted a bullshit thread thinkin SOMEONE would laugh/call me on it/try it and be mad....alas it's been passed over....

Forums are dead, someone should **** around a little more.
