Dollfie (BJD)

Are there any other TFF members who share in my obsesseion with Dollfie (Ball-Jointed Japanese Dolls/BJD)? While I admit my obsession is fairly new (only present for about 6 months), I insist that it is so strong, I cannot see it dissipating in the near future. I am currently saving funds (from cutting back on food, travel, phone, and sleep) to buy my first. He is a Volks SD10 Mark, but as the name is so plain for such an amazing Dollfie, I shall dub him Kiyoshi (Japanese for "Quiet; Silent").

Whilst browsing through images and sites of other Dollfie for sale, I happened upon another resin angel. This one is considerably taller, and possesses a much harsher-looking face. Mischevious, almost. Therefore, I have decided that once Kiyoshi is bought and "settled in," I shall take it upon myself to provide my little uke with a seme.

No thanks, I stopped playing with action figures about a decade ago. Those dolls are way too creepy too and would def be one of the last things I'd like to wake up to in the morning.

I dunno man, I didn't know that there were grades of plastic worth about $600, except for maybe some C4 or semtex, or some other Metal Gear Solid type shit. It just seems a bit strange to me to spend that much on some really creepy lookin dolls. Granted, the details are pretty good, but it's just a wee bit much for some molded plastic and fake hair.

I don't see a problem with fake vaginas, I mean if you get drunk enough you can't even tell much of a difference, plus it saves money from no child support, getting tested for AIDS and whatnot. But that's another debate for another time. Vote for Pete and he will make all vaginas authentic!

But yeah, dolls in general are creepy. Ever since I saw that movie Toy Story, the whole thought of having toys is kinda scary. Who knows if one day they go crazy and tie you up and kill you? All because you wanted to have a little fun? I mean, hell I bought the damn things, so I should be able to use them how I want.. lol I'm getting off topic again but yeah they look pretty life-like but I think that is one more reason I wouldn't invest into them, especially if they're more than 50 dollars or so. But good thread and nice discussion so far.

I reckon the Dollfies look cool, but then again, I could never justify paying that much for one. That said, to each his own. Some people would think me insane for the amount I spend on my video gaming addiction.

The only dolls and action figures I get seem to come free with special editions of games. I might be getting a Brothers In Arms doll with several weapons (Brothers In Arms: Hell's Highway Collector's Edition >> XBOX 360) and a Fable 2 action figure (no pics on the page) soonish.

Well hmm. The dolls aren't really for me, but I do appreciate the artist's work, and they are interesting to look at. Those red eyes are intense. And Pete, I've already told you I think those sports figures you put up are amazing. All that detail!

I'm not sure what I'd collect that would be similar. I'd love to see figures of Shakespearian plays. Or, dare I be this big of a girl, Jane Austen characters. That, to me, would be pretty awesome.

I don't have any, but I do have a great big collection of pictures of them :x. I'm not so obsessed now, but I did go through an obsession with them. I think they're fantastic, and definitely not 'just dolls' =P

I don't like these. I think some of the more traditional Japanese dolls are pretty, but I'm not sure whether they're called the same thing. And I'm talking white faces, red lipstick, black hair and kimonos.

In truth, I don't find these dolls attractive or creepy. I think the time and effort gone into them is admirable, but that's about it.

Those dolls are adorable. They're just a few hundred too expensive, though.

I do understand your addiction. My house looks like a novelty store. Seriously. I was talking with Cesar about it last week. I took a few pictures of the computer room to show him, since I commanded that his room look as much like a novelty shop as my house. (On account of the fun-ness.)

It's a mess (due to hand just fully getting recovered) and blurry, but it gives you an idea.
It goes from my desk and heads left toward my boyfriend's desk. Note that the only toys here that aren't mine are the small Homestar figurines.

And yeah, like I said before, if you got $600 dollars to burn why not spend it on something that you can get some use out of. And sure, you could argue that buying a PS3 or 360 isn't really that great of use for money anyway, but it's all a matter of preference. I dare say it Rocky, but that's maybe 25-30 (assuming a lapdance is $20) pairs of titties! That's 50 to 60 single boobies in your face. Well, minus a cover charge of about $20-40, thats about 23-28 pairs of titties! Or 46-56 single ones! Holy crap, thats much better than dolls or video games.

In fact, I have a new platform for my campaign. Titties for all? Hmmm, no. Titties for none? Def not. Titties for some, miniature American flags for others? Yes! We have a winner.

No I think having Mr. Darcy and Ms. Austen in doll form would be kind of amazing. I mean think about it, you could sit there and read the book out loud and have them act out the scenes. It would be epic. Epic I tell you.


Also, Kyo-san... the Dollfie dolls.... very very very scary. Very scary.

I had to go get my comfort blanket and stare out the window for ten minutes, scary. And besides, why spend the money on the dolls when you could just save the $600 dollars towards going to Japan? Me thinks that would be more enjoyable.

I tend to find anime figurines (not the slutty ones, just typical ones) to be quite enjoyable, and at a much cheaper price. I however have already set aside about $400 for my first Dollfie, and I'm gonna get him, dammit!! <<;
