    Chocobo Digest

Hey, I was just curious what happened to one of the greatest things on this forum. I remember back in the early 2009 year it was going strong, then when I get back from boot camp it's effectively dead.
Did you guys run out of ideas? Workers? Because if you need a writer I'm willing to volunteer, haha. I loved reading the articles, and was really excited to continue reading them.

I don't think it was really ever going strong. I remember Andromeda saying that everyone lost interest. It seems like most of the people on this forum have either become quite busy or lost interest. Pretty much all member contributions/activities have ceased. It's quite unfortunate.

Yeah, you could talk to Andromeda about starting it back up. I don't know for sure, but I would guess that he would be interested in starting it back up if there was a decent about of contributors to help him out. I think that was the problem in the first place. I guess there were very few people involved, and then when just a couple people didn't want to contribute anymore it wasn't quite feasible to do anymore. I wouldn't mind contributing something if it gets started back up either. I miss the member content that was once posted on this site.

Yeah, it gave a contribution to the site I haven't seen in any forum. It was funny, random, and actually was quite a read. I know for a fact that it was the Digest as well as the Rp'ing section that drew me to TFF in the first place. And as I stated before, I am fully willing to participate and lend a helping hand, haha. I might actually contact Andro and see what his plans are for the Digest.

    Re: Chocobo Digest

The Digest I started like 3 years ago and it ran for one issue before all of the help failed to produce. Meier convinced me to restart it with new help and some old help and it actually managed to last for 6 or 7 issues if I remember right before all of the help failed to meet the deadline required of them.

It is accurate to say that it failed because those working on it failed to delivery the content that was requested of them. With the work that was being done for TFF7.0 on vB4.0 I was actually considering more so than in the past about giving it another go since the post-production work I'd have to do would be less. However, that is another project that has stalled.

Meier probed about a year back about interest for the Digest among the previous group and I think I was the only to response, perhaps Shadow did as well. But my response was less than encouraging for Meier.

The factor isn't so much about finding people that are interested in working on it. It is finding people that will actually stick with it. Because if you can't stick out, then you're not really going to someone that can help. And there's nothing I can do aside from pestering to get someone to produce. This is all a hobby. So I can't force anyone or provide a worthwhile incentive that would make want to keep doing it with a good work ethic.

I'm glad that you did enjoy the Digest. For it's limited run, it did actually have a pretty positive response from those that read it.
Curious? There's no limits but your own imagination.

I'm new to this forum, and I would love to see this forum up and running at the pace it was once from the previous post. It's pretty cool now

I actually thought those articles were from an actual magazine I never heard off.

But I guess I was wrong. I loved it, as well. Good job.

    Re: Chocobo Digest

As the major driving force behind the last revival I would like to say that the Digest was a blast while we were in full force. I personally had a blast writing for it and would love to see it revived again for good this time.

The down side is that most of the people that we had writing for us are either less active now a days or gone completely; the same with Andros first run on the Digest.

As the Digest grew the need for more writers became more and more but there were just not enough dedicated people to actually accomplish this. Even back in the day, when we had a lot of RPers here there wouldn't of been enough people to keep it going for good.

Eventually we agreed that it was best not to continue further and since then this section of the forum has been dead. My motivation to start again is gone as activity of the main forum dwindled and the CD staff dissipated; the CD a long with it.

Maybe if activity returns to the forum I might someday be willing to approach Andro about another revamp. My fear in the loss of VB4 / TFF7.0 is that the over all chances of a major over all to the CD is inevitably out of the picture.

Figure I would throw in my two cents but hopefully it gives some in-site as to what happen from my stand point.

I am glad you guys still enjoy the old articles and it feels good to know that there is still new people reading the old CD articles. To be honest it has been to long since I have checked this area of the forum out to see what the numbers are.

Yeah, I was reading the articles just a few days ago. I started becoming more active again, and trying to catch up on the 7+ months that I've been awol. Haha. It's sad to see it go, but maybe someday it'll respawn in full force.

If you guys ever do decide to give it another go, I'll be willing to assist the best I can. Until then, I'll read the current issues and hopefully Rp to fill in the time. ^-^

There are things in the pipeline, but I can't say much more than that at the moment. I'd love to see CD brought back to life and I'd love to help out, but I don't have time to focus on writing at the moment. I've got like 3+ full-fledged stories that have been floating around in my head for years that I haven't wrote down... hah!

    Re: Chocobo Digest

It's kind of funny, as it was just the other day I was looking down that section of the forum and had a quick flick through the Chocobo Digest, and wondered if it'll ever make a return. Glad someone made a thread on it.

    I remember last time I wanted to help, but in order to get on the crew, you had to write an article on FFVI if I remember correctly. I'd never played the game, and despite the aid Meier gave me, was never able to get something worthy written up. Researching a game to write an article doesn't come over my studies either. ^^;

I don't have anything better to do these days, so if it ever does come back, count me in. I end up writing things anyway when I'm bored, so this'll actually give me something to write about.
