    Canned Coke vs Bottled Coke

Did have a quick a flick through and didn't spot a thread on this, sorry if I missed it if there is one.

But anyways. May seem like an odd thing to ask you all, but this a debate that has been goin around mine and the other halfs familes for quite awhile now, it actually is becoming a family tradtion to have this debate when we all get togther lol.

My partner, his bro in law, his dad and my dad all say bottled Coke tastes best. One of my partners sister, my sisters and his mum say canned is best. Me?? I don't taste a damn difference lol

Basically, which do you think is the better Coca-cola bottled or canned, or are you like me and can't taste a difference?

I did hear from somewhere that something to do with how they are made effects the taste, but not sure if that is true or not.

Re: Canned Coke vs Bottled Coke

I do notice that canned drinks do taste much better. Bottled fizzy drinks tend to get really flat after a while, and usually aren't as cold as canned fizzy drinks when put in the fridge. However! Glass bottled fizzy drinks/beers/other beverages are much better.

I don't think it's about the taste though - it's more about the quality of the drink.

I'm not sure about which is better taste-wise for Coke, but I would personally prefer canned. Bottled soda however I don't really like, it seems it went away more faster than canned, even though theres more. o-o It's sort of hard to describe, but I like canned Coke better than bottled.

Glass bottled coke is the best by FAR. If you can find the imports in your grocery store (at least in the US), they import coke from Mexico which has real sugar. It's $1 a bottle, but so worth it for the taste.

Re: Canned Coke vs Bottled Coke

I avoid soft drinks these days, but I do remember how I felt about the container in relation to flavor.

    From least fave to fave:
plastic bottle < aluminum can < glass bottle.

I feel like people drink way too much soda, and that it should be more of an occasion than a staple. Which is why even though the glass bottles are more expensive, as chad said, the taste would be well worth it and the price might encourage less consumption.
    Curious?

I actually like Pepsi more but I have been drinking less and less soda as of late but I can definitely say that the glass bottle of Coke tastes the best to me. Idk what it is about it but it just tastes better than the canned version. I think it might be that the canned version is so much more carbonated but maybe that's just how it tastes to me

I'm not sure about taste difference, but over ALL I prefer my soda in a cup with a straw, and lid...like when you go out to eat.

The reason: because when I drink soda out of the can it feels more light and fizzy and doesn't quench my thirst. Plastic bottles are fine but you kind of have to drink it fast because it get's flat and taste like a caffeinated sugary mess.

I agree that glass bottles are nice, and do taste a tiny bit better. I think plastic bottled soda taste the worse for some reason.

Re: Canned Coke vs Bottled Coke

Listen to Chad, people. The imports have actual cane sugar in them and are bottled. They are much tastier than the canned drink and taste more along the lines of how I remember coke tasting when I was little. However, not all bottled cokes are imports. Believe me, Coke is a very ingenious company and they know exactly how smart their consumer base is.

Consider their "New Coke" scheme... PART1: Replace favored beverage with an atrocious new flavor and change recipe. PART2: Remove original "Classic" Recipe from store shelves. Once everyone is sick of the New Coke, reintroduce "Classic" and up the price. Brilliant, no?

Well their scheme with the bottle is similar. They know that real cane sugar tastes best but is more expensive. So once the imports floated around a while and people suddenly make the connection that glass=good flavor, they start selling glass cokes without changing the recipe. And have you seen their pricing? Ridiculous.

    Done.

In the same way iced mugs are the best way to enjoy root beer, glass bottles are the absolute best way to drink Coke. It just feels right.

It's not so much about the taste of what's inside the container, as the taste of the container itself. A glass bottle doesn't really have any effect on the taste. IMO it actually makes it taste better. With a can, you can kinda taste the aluminum, which ruins it a bit, but not as much as a plastic bottle.

Coke in a can or glass bottle is better than plastic.

But Pepsi in a plastic bottle is much better than either of those, and in a can is yuk.

I don't really drink pop, so I can't say. Beer on the other hand, I know. I find beer tastes better in a bottle than in a can. Cans kind of have the tinny taste to them, if that makes sense?

Pretty much exactly what I think. Then again it also depends on just how cold the bottle/ can is. The wierd thing is that when you put a plastic bottle in the fridge the liquid tastes worse. A nice, cold glass bottle is perfect.

    This:

    it's too big:

    I try and avoid coke.

That stuff rots ya teeth ya know? And it's far less expensive than milk Though in my experience, the glass bottle tastes the best. I think it's because it picks up the least amount of who-knows-what from the interior walls of the vessel.

I was stating to think he has a bottle fetish.

I have been drinking alot of coke lately from the bottles, just because they are taking over my kitchen units and the fridge, but I hate chilled drinks so havn't touched those.

    Glass bottles.
Whether or not there's an objective proof behind that it feels better to be drinking from a cold glass bottle.
Not with coke but some drinks, like fanta, I hate having out of cans.

I am an American/Canadian, although I degrade my Canadian roots and only focus on my American roots, because that's just how much of an American I am. With that being said, I respect buying things for America; whatever those things may be, despite the realization that I may not want whatever it is I am purchasing. With that being said, it doesn't matter to me whether my soda is in a can, or a plastic bottle, or even in a glass bottle, because it still supports the American economy, and any beverage bought supporting the American economy is delicious and tastes like freedom. I'm not a communist like people who don't drink soda. I am a real American. I fight for the rights of every man. Except for communists.

glass bottles win hands down, not that you see them much these days. Well, I don't anyway. I remember having fanta lemon for the first time in a glass bottle, came home, bought it in a plastic bottle, and it just wasnt the same ]:

Cans are better than plastic bottles as well I think, though I dont like drinking from cans coz I always seem to miss my mouth

Not that I really like fizzy drinks anyway.

I think they have two or three different recipes that go into each bottle, because if the bottle effected the taste, are there harmful side-effects from a plastic bottle?

I love canned though, so cold and by the time I finish it there is no chance for it to go flat like a bottle. Put the cap back on and accidentally knock it over and it's ruined =]

i drink mainly bottled coke becasue its convenient while driving!!

I usually prefer a bottle as they're resealable, but on a very hot day, few things beat an ice cold can of cola (or beer for that matter).
One thing I do dislike about bottles though is they generally cost more.

    Fountain Pepsi.

It's the only time I'll drink soda. Something about it is just so much better, whether it's the taste or the slightly different carbonation.

I also prefer my beer on tap, as opposed to cans. Bottles are alright, except for Miller High Life. For some reason that beer is much better in a can.

hmm similar debate has happened between be and some of my friends before.. and the debate ended up being.

depends on which bottle (i.e. Glass or plastic) IF Plastic then can wins, if Glass then bottle, for some reason it does taste nicer from a Glass Bottle (even for me), with Plastic bottle/Can - taste the same, but i prefer bottle - due to, not having to finish it all in one go and can shove it in a bag (half full) and not worry. other then that no pref

The cans, and bottles do not have shit on the glass bottles. They are delectable, way better than the other. Fountain is better than can and bottle also.

Could it be the $11.99 price tag for a 30 pack? Or atleast thats the cost around here. Pretty much a staple drink during college.

As for me I like the can for the same reasons as most others on here. Seems like the drink is colder comming out of the fridge. Also the can is smaller so I tend to finish the drink before it gets warm. Don't usually drink Soda/pop though more of an Ice tea person.
