I'm not quite sure what you mean by your statement that I "take offense to the terms 'perfect' and 'imperfect'." I just don't believe that they exist. People say that we can't be perfect because 'this' is flawed. True. But if flaws exist, then it should be possible to at least imagine a perfect human. Then it reaches eugenics and Nazism.

Perfection is meant to be desirable, right? Given the choice between supposed perfection and imperfection, we would choose the former. So if perfection exists (and if you establish that human flaws exist, then perfection must too), then we should take steps to approach it. But what does this entail?

I agree that personal perfection exists. To me, getting good grades is better (closer to perfection) to getting bad grades. To others, maybe something else is important. On a holistic level, there is no way to decide, and we shouldn't attempt to.

What I just said to you via VM: The language that you used in a few of your posts suggested that you didn't like the usage of the words.

And I am pretty much being anal about what is perfect and what isn't because I don't believe anyone should think that they are perfect. Thinking of one as such generally involves a gigantic ego. And besides, there are always ways to better one's self, and... but we're not supposed to bring religion into this. Anyhoo...

Which one of us was 'more perfect'? It's impossible to judge on a holistic basis.
    .
I do. Your friend was awesome, and he should definitely know that. And he should also know that compared to other people he didn't do the best in school. He probably knows that already, though. One of my best friends in school always made C's, but he tutored people who made A's. He just didn't give a shit about his own work. It didn't have meaning to him. School isn't the end all be all of how smart you are, let alone perfect. The education systems have flaws in them too, you know.

Also, I don't think theres a defining line between being intelligent and being buff, and I know where you guys got it from, but I don't agree. There are plenty of people who make time to study, and then go to the gym. Life is all about balance as far as I'm concerned. A good balance between studying and making that A+ and then working on another project like toning your body or even some other project is a good way to take your mind off of both, as long as you're focused.

Anyway. What I gather between the conversation between Alpha and Tele in this thread is that maybe humans cannot be perfect by all humans definition. Is there a human that is possible to call perfect by the majority of the humans, "perfect", though?

And while that question is asked. Is it possible for artificial intelligence to be perfect? Japan is doing some pretty interesting things with robots and AI these days.

I remember hearing a girl in my school ask the question, "Where's Korea? Is that in Europe?" This isn't high school I'm talking about either, this girl was in university. "Flaws" is an understatement.

Yes, but that's a whole different subject we could argue on for years and years, I believe.

I realize a lot of religions are going to say that there is no possible way for a mortal to be "perfect", but let's not turn this into a religious debate.

I want to know, if a child was born in a forest, with parents who were...campers (something that gets away from society), and they are not brought up with any religious teachings, can they be perfect?

What does it take to even be perfect as a human?

Does it just mean that you reproduce and create another life, thus continuing on the human race?

Does it mean that you do not impose any values on others while you follow your own?

These are just a couple of my own ideas, I'd love to hear any others.

    Can you be perfect?
Of course you can be perfect! Just ask David Bowie what it's like. I'm sure he'd love to tell you... you know... being perfect and all.

Why would they cease to exist? They'd die from being so perfect?

You also asked what would be the purpose from then on. The "purpose" is probably to recreate life, and enjoy the one you have. What is the purpose of having a purpose?
What I mean is if we were to become perfect it would be in one of two ways perfection within ourself or emotional perfection and/or primal instinct perfection to reproduce children with an immunity and adaptability to cope with the disease and pollution etc that is changing our world, do those two things and one would be perfect.

Aren't we so hard bent on trying to have the perfect life that we have lost sight of what our real existence is for .like you said it is our primal instinct to reproduce and carry on the human races existence and hey maybe in years to come someone will give birth to a perfect baby a baby who can never get sick, is immune to all disease and has an advanced learning capability, I don't think its the fact that some ne perfect excels in maths or science as I think someone said earlier but has a huge capacity to learn and adapt to the ever changing world.

On another note I said what would be the point in continuing well yes to reproduce of course but if we ever did reach perfection would we ever realise it or just lose sight of what perfection is or as you said I think do we really know what the limits of perfection are so maybe therefore we would never know if one self became perfect.
