So me, Martin and Chez are giving it the conspiring on MSN, and we have some categories to make it maybe a better affair (all of course pending approval). Recieving any of these will make you prouds.

The awards will take place during December, like last year. Comin up soon! I have time to host them over winter break, and it's right at the end of the year, which I think is a good thing.

I suppose you all can submit ideas, but I can't promise they'll all be included. Someone has to make tags for this, and we wouldn't want to overwork them.

I think we could do with a bit of an overhaul, to be honest... Something a bit less serious. ALternately, have two completely seperate awards threads. One for the 'traditional' ones that've been used for years, one for all the silly topics being brought up here.

Yeah, Ann pretty much hit it on the head. We don't need too many, and we don't really need anymore than the compiled list above. That's why we had the discussion last year of adding/removing/renaming the categories, and we got that optimized one right there.

It's fun to add funny categories though. But at the same time, as Oceaneyes said, wouldn't want to have too many.

Edit: As I said, we don't need too many. There's no need for a "Serious" rewards, and a "Funny" rewards. It's too much. Unless SOMEONE volunteers to manage the Funny one and they have someone make the Funny userbars. Then that'll be cool.

Yeah I'm in agreeance with Violet here, I think the 07 list looked pretty legit overall, covering a lot of the topics that were thrown around by Entity and Govinda. I also second a notion for "Video Game Guru", I'm suprised this wasn't mentioned already, lol. I think a nice change would be if you could change the name from "Biggest Camera Whore" to "Most Photogenic" or something, because it isn't as woman-discriminating and it sounds like a better award to me at least.

With adding the "VG Guru" and keeping the 2007 list, that would be including 27 awards total. Personally, I think having over 30 awards would seem like a lot to me. I kinda like the last two that Govinda had in her last post, but they also kinda conflict with the past awards.

Some suggestions from me? How about... "Best Mannered" or "Most likely to become a Mod/Supermod/Admin"? Just some suggestions.


EDIT: Christ, I take too long to post, lol. But I think Anachlirium is on to something here. Two different award systems makes sense, since afterall in the real world we have the Pulitzer Prizes and the Darwin Awards. And maybe do to the lack of nominations from last year, Oceaneyes might want to take down a few, so that may solve the quantity of the awards possibly Sheena? I don't really know though, just speculation.

Well, I'd really like to run something seperate. I'd manage it myself as a seperate thread and figure out a system. As in, to get nominees, basically picking random members out of a hat to vote, and then putting it in a thread for public vote.

You know, I wouldn't mind having the official TFF awards at the end of the year as usual, and then a super silly awards thread in the meantime. I'm okay with it as long as the silly awards don't have awards from the official list. So... "hottest" member, maybe not (very similar to the attractive member award), but a "member you'd like to sex up" award or a "member you'd take home to meet your mom" award... that could work. Oh, and these awards can't be too offensive. A little teasing is one thing, but we're not trying to hurt anyone's feelings.

And I'd like to have a final okay on the award list before it gets put up. As long as we're communicating, I'm perfectly happy to provide your award thread with a big orange IMPORTANT sticky. And I do have a system for the official TFF awards that the lovely Neo Necron created back when he was hosting, if you're interested. Or you can create your own. Either way.

I'd drop "TFF's biggest arsehole", then, as well as anything equally as offensive, such as "most hated", "members you would push off a cliff". Two reasons: The nature of forum members here wouldn't be able to take winning that type of award. Furthermore, people whom already have a bad past are more than likely to nominate each other for this and be FURTHER apart. I see no point in them.

Froggie, your idea is excellent. I would suggest using Neo Necron's model for gathering votes, as it is fair and works very well. Other than that, you're on your own, haha.

Actually, I think the "biggest asshole" wouldn't be too bad of an idea ... For the most part, I'd imagine that the people who would be voted for in that category know it, and would be proud to win. "Most hated" might get touchy, that's understandable, but I'm not sure about "biggest asshole". Or "arsehole", I suppose.

But then, with either, the people that really dislike the candidate might not vote for them, because they might feel proud to win. You know what I mean? If you hate me, and I would be proud to be "most hated", would you vote for me, knowing I'd be happy to win?

I don't think offensive, or potentially offensive awards should be included. Halie and Sasquatch, I agree with your idea completely, and think it would work - if this was not TFF. It is TFF, and if there's anything I've learned about these people, it's that they can take a joke and make it into serious drama in a matter of seconds. There is a huge risk that somebody somewhere would get offended and then the Sillies would be thrown into disrepute.

I'm already voting myself in for biggest asshole.

I think that categories like that would be alright, so long as the recipient would understand that the term asshole is kind of a term of endearment, whereas most hated is pretty much exactly how it sounds.

Essentially, asshole means you can be pretty brash and abrasive, and speak your mind, but all in all you're not a bad person and you're liked for the most part.

Hated means, f off and die.


Oh, and I demand that there finally be an official vote for S-Mod. So, I say that there should be a write in for and SMod category. Settle this once and for all.
