Annoying Friends

Do any of you have people who like hanging out with you and your group of friends, and who you enjoy hanging out with on occasion, but whom frequently annoy you? Or maybe their company isn't really appreciated at all, but your friends and you are basically too nice, and they aren't obnoxious enough, to just tell them to get lost? The group I hang out with is a large group, so, as might be expected, there are a few of those in our group. I think I will list a few common traits of theirs:

-Don't have a very good sense of humor. Our group has a specific sense of humor that we all get... except for these guys. They try to be funny, but generally, the things that come out of their mouths in those instances are stupid, offensive, or both.

-Two at least frequently have expectations of others to give things to them or do things for them. Like, every time I go some place, and one of these guys is there with his girlfriend, it's almost a given that he is going to ask me to give him and his girl a ride home. And he's asking, but you can tell it's not really a request, but an expectation that I will do this for him. My roommates could be there, or another couple who lives nearby could be there, but he always asks me. Last night, I was just like, [my roommates] are still here. Why don't you ask them?" And he was like, "...oh, yeah, they are."

This same person also is frequently like "when are we gonna hang out, Tom?" And that in itself isn't so annoying, but he means like him and me time, one on one. I find him obnoxious in a group setting as it is, but at least then I have someone else to be annoyed with me. And the one time we did this, it was on a Saturday. I had stayed out until after 3 the night before. My roommates told him this (they were with him somewhere at the time, apparently.) He proceeded to try and call me at 10 AM anyway, because we "had plans." He was calling from a different phone, I didn't recognize the number, didn't answer. Later, I was driving to my parents', and he tried calling me. A couple minutes later, he called me again. I got to my parents' house, got out of my car, looked at who called me, and was about to call him back when he called me again. So after that, I don't feel compelled to set up another "hangout" date with him. I know he has done the whole "calling five million times in little time" thing to at least one other person in the group in the past. They were also rather annoyed.

Then there's this kid who will invite himself to wherever it is we're going. He overhears what we're doing, and I suppose just assumes he's invited, too. Or, sometimes, it seems like he drives around town until he finds our cars. It's pretty awesome. There was even one time that there was a bachelor party, and he was invited to the first part of it, but the second part was for the close friends of the bachelor only. A friend repeatedly told him he wasn't invited, and he kept on asking, "So when is it? So when do we leave? So where is it?" Eventually, he ended up at one of the places we had discussed going to, and called us to ask where everyone was. I'm pretty sure he's older than 21, but he seems to have the maturity of an immature teenager. And he also sounds like Homestar Runner when he talks. You might think this would be hilarious, but really, it's not.

Then there's this other guy who admittedly has it together a little bit better than the other two. He seems to be aware of when people are annoying, and when he is doing something annoying (unlike the other two). I'm not sure about him, though. He seems a little bipolar. He'll be really happy for a time, and then be really down on himself and everyone else in the next. He also has some really annoying things he does. He's one of those guys who talks big about himself a lot, and will talk others down, for one. That whole male machismo thing. Other people in the group do it too, but he might be the worst, and he's one of the least among them who can really talk.

One thing that annoys me about all of them is when they don't understand that when I'm talking in a weird voice and saying something really absurd, that I am, in fact, joking. A few others in the group don't seem to get this at times, too, but it's even more annoying when the annoying ones take me seriously and react accordingly. This is more of a personal annoyance, or pet peeve, however.

So, share with us stories about your annoying friends. Unless you'd find that annoying. Anyhoo...

Meh I have really only one friend I hang out with who I sometimes don't like. Mainly because he tries to do what we do. (We have a few inside jokes that he has tried to adapt to and he just doesn't do it right) He gets annoying like when he starts drinking he will start doing weak punches and it's annoying as ****. Also when he is in any of our houses he will just eat our food without asking. I mean, he is one of my best friends, but damn I sometimes don't want to hang out with him.

I only had one person in my life that I would have ever called an "annoying friend". We aren't friends anymore, because we just sort of drifted apart, but when we did hang out together, she would become pretty annoying. She wasn't all the time, just sometimes I just would not want to be around her.

-She had a big crush on my older brother, and when he was around, she didn't want anything to do with anyone else. She would fawn over him and giggle and do all kinds of flirty things to make him notice her. He wasn't that into her, but he did talk to her to be nice, because she was my friend.

-When she found out I got a job working as a waitress, she would say things like "How can you stand working a job like that?" or "I would never wait tables". I don't really mind that she thinks that, I'm sure a lot of people do, it's just that I think she should be a little more respectful of what people have to do to earn thier money.

-Last thing and then I'm finished. When she was having problems at home, she would come to my house and my family did all that they could to help her. We would do things like cook for her, and let her sleep over for a few nights, and talk to her about what is going on to make her upset. At first, it wasn't a problem, but then it started to become a lot more frequent, and sometimes we would only hear from her when she was having problems. We never heard anything about her when things were going good, because she never came around when things were pleasant in her life. My mother finally said to me that my friend was taking advantage of our hospitality, and the next time she had problems and needed us, that I was not to let her in the house. I felt really bad, but I understood her point... So the next time she came over, I had to tell her that she should probably crash at someone else's house.

We haven't spoken since then...

I'm not sure if that was the right thing to do, but I didn't want her to just use us like that either.

Well, that's my story. I wouldn't consider any of my other friends annoying at all, and I love hanging out with them! I don't get to do that very often though, because of my schedule. I just hope that they don't think that I'm annoying. I sometimes think that I am, so I try to watch that.

I had one friend who would become annoying at times. One of the things he'd do is touch all of my stuff. And he'd also try picking fights with me. It got annoying to the point I would give in and just incapacitate him until he would agree to stop.

He would also touch me, which is bad enough as it is. I don't generally like being touched by most people. But he'd touch my face, which feels even more invasive than most other areas.

Other than that, I've only really been annoyed by a friend's friends. But in those cases, I'm usually less likely to say anything to the person. I will be honest and let my friend know that I find their friend annoying, though. I'd just rather avoid them if possible.

There are two people that come to my mind right now, one of them is called Cake. What am I going to say right now might sound a little bit strange but please bare with me. Me and my friends can't stand him sometimes because he's too nice (yes you read that right, he's too nice), so nice that it's creepy, he's like a frickin saint. I don't have anything against nice and polite people but man, he's become irritating nice.

I can't even say "shit" without him asking me "why do you swear, it's a bad thing", or when he's with us and we see some hawt chick one of us usually says "damn, she's fine" and then he suddenly starts a discussion how man only care about the looks and how most man treat women like property and bla bla bla...The only way to describe him in which you'll understand my point is that he's the pure copy of Flanders from the Simpsons, if you ever though that such person doesn't exists I can assure you it does. He's a good person, nice and polite and it's great to be with him from time to time but most of the times he's just annoying, this may sound cruel but believe me you would say the same thing after two days with him.


The other one is something like a outcast from our group, yes, he still hangs with us occasionally but not with the entire group, just few of my friends including me are let's just say "still good" with him. The thing that most annoys me about him is that he has no sense of humor, any kind at all. It's all good when he's making pranks and jokes on us but when we do the same thing he suddenly get's angry, shit we don't see him for several days and he doesn't even answer the phone. Also it annoys me when I hear his plans for the future, we go on the same college and he's always talking about how he's going to pass every exam, how he's going to do this and that.

The thing is that he's a lazy son of a bitch and he's going on the same college for the past two years without passing one fricking exam, not even one and imagine hearing the same bullshit over and over again for the past two years. He's not a bad person but I'm starting to realize why many of my friends don't hang out with him anymore.

2 people come into my mind right now... Their names are Dayle and Daryll.

Yes as you may as well guess by their names, they are in fact twins. The worst twins ever to exist, we drifted apart 2 years back but I'm going to go tell you anyway so sit back and relax.

1. Dirty 3rd grade jokes: We all had a laugh with these in the 3rd grade but when you're in high school you really don't want to hear it. Such insults as "You watch old man porn"... I mean that's rather pathetic right? I just could stand their jokes but I kept a grin on my face. (even though I was dying inside) They haven't matured still.

2. Tag: Once again, things about maturity. You know if you're in high school you just talk and walk with your friends around the playground and have a laugh, I mean you stop playing games like tag near the end of Grade 7? (Year 6) But these two insisted EVERY SINGLE DAY that we play tag. (By this point I had a vein popping out of my head.)

3. Fighting: Like all twin brothers and/or sisters, you can expect a little fighting but this was off the scale, every moment of every weekend we just sat and watched the two fight each other. (At least we gained enjoyment from it) Stuff from " I want to play the Xbox" to " I want the last Hubba Bubba"... Dreadfully annoying.

4. Last but not least their gaming habits: Right, this might be long... First, when I finally bought a Nintendo Gamecube a few years back, I went by their house to see what games they had around there. They were currently playing on the new Mario Strikers game *Not the new one but this was new at the time* and when I said I might pick it up they said out loud "Why'd you always copy us?!". Then I thought back to the time I introduced them to Final Fantasy and how they copied what I bought every day. I nearly grabbed a miniature stature on their T.V. and smashed it off one of their heads.

Second, once they insisted that they had all the Final Fantasy games when they were little, as in a anniversary edition I - IX.Two flaws to that, 1. There isn't a anniversary edition with I - IX and 2. Number IX wasn't out when they said they got it...

Third, they cheat together in a multiplayer game, not a big complaint I know but if they team up on you in a free for all it can be pretty annoying. So can messing with your pad when you're about to kill them or if you win they say you cheated and... It just goes on and on. You can tell that I've been sent insane by them both... I regret ever being friends with them, ask Gilgameshed_up and xTidus as they are my other friends that had to deal with my problem as well.

Right now the only friends I hang out with are my buddies from boot camp. None of them are annoying at all they are all very cool guys.


In high school however there was one kid his name was Damon, he was the most annoying son of a bitch ever. The only reason we kept him around and didnt tell him to f*ck off was because girls found him attractive. This made them often come to our lunch table in the cafeteria so we took full advantage of this. It sounds mean to keep someone around because of that but it was the only good thing about the kid everything else just pissed me off to no ends.

Oh boy,

I had one annoying friend, but we don't talk anymore. It was one of those cases where a person starts acting totally fake. It's incredibly annoying, it started when one of my guy friends was interested in her, so I told him I would bring up the idea to her. Well, they started dating and after that everything went to hell. She started trying to act like his friends. What was sad was that all of them actually got tired of her. She started crushing on like all of them and started being a skeeze. I told her to chill out about it, but every time I gave her advise about anything, she took it as me being a smart ass.

I felt bad because people started saying stuff about her but she didn't listen. She made sooo much drama that everyone got fed up, including me. Long story short she doesn't have too many friends anymore, and the ones who I know that are, are kind of two faced to her. I don't hate her, but it's more like people don't want to deal with her. I wish she would go back to the way she was before but that's not gonna happen. There's a lot more to this but I'd rather not go into detail, just one word : immaturity.

I have had annoying friends, one would never shut up and I would always listen to her and her problems but whenever I wanted to talk, she wouldn't listen. She would usually not say anything back or would talk about herself once again. Plus you couldn't tell her any secrets. I had told her I liked some guy and by the next day he had known, I was so angry about that. I learned my lesson after that, I never told her anything. I don't really see her anymore since that was in high school. People who only care about themselves bother me, I've always been there to listen to my friends but when you don't get anything in return, I couldn't be bothered. Plus she was a real drama queen about everything.

Another girl I knew, I was sort of friends with her was another drama queen. Someone would accidentally bump into her or something and she would be like, "OW!" Then her eyes would water over it. She made such a scene over such little things, it was so lame.

High school was filled with loonies.

I had a friend who thought it was funny that she lacked "social tact". She used it as an excuse to be rude, obnoxious and ignorant to anyone she felt like it. I can't tell you how many times I had to go back to people and try and explain her actions, because most of the time people were horrified as to how she spoke.

We don't talk anymore, that's a big factor that contributed to that. Attitudes like hers were 'funny' when we were younger, but when you hit your 30s it really isn't. She's beyond pathetic.

Any annoying friends I've had are all gone because they were all in high school or college.

I mean, there are some people in this forum that are annoying, but that's a totally different thing all together. So I don't really have annoying friends anymore.

I can't really tell any stories because I don't remember any.

I had a friend who wouldn't stop following me. I was a little bit of a drifter before I started my GCSE's, and I often found myself hanging out with different people every other month. No matter where I went, I had her at my side.

I think the whole reason I drifted was to get rid of her. =S

I used to be friends with this overly dramatic/arty farty chick too. She'd see a smudge on a table and start to describe it in a dreamy/arty/dramatic/fooking scary way. She once told me about a slide she went down in the Tate Modern, and once she got to the bottom, she felt "fulfilled".

Well i don't have that many friends i have about 2 really close friends it used to be three but recently we all sorta decide to just not hang out with him.

I all started back in year 9 when he got his first Girlfriend. she didn't like me and told him not to hang out with me so he decided to flush 4 years worth of friendship down the drain!!

Low and Behold they broke up and who did he crawl back too once he deserted all his friends thats right me. so being the nice guy that i am i said "Sure why not"

after a coupla years the 3 of us including me strarted noticing the annoying things about Friend X!!

-He is a personality sponge!! he preety much likes everything the people/person he hangs around with!

-he developed a "Higher than thou" attitude especially to me.

-doesn't take my opinion seriously becasue i didn't finish year 12

-He started smoking.

now for all you smokers out there im not against smoking or people that smoke the reason this irritaes me is becasue for the entire time ive know him he's always hated smoking/smokers.

Plus the only reason he smokes is becasue hes started hanging out with people that smoke, i work in the hospitality industry where about 80% of people smoke so ive been around people that smoke and i don't have a sudden urge to smoke!!

He also blames his "Addictive personality" to his smoking!!

-he had the ordacity to call us boring!

it was a tuesday, it was raining and it was 1 in the morning!!! we can't exactly go out to a club or a pub, we cant go for a walk which is somthing we usually do after a big dinner and to get out a bit and not just watch movies and drink!! ARRRGGHHH dude shits me!!

Plus hes done multiple things to the other dudes in the group so we thought Screw it we aint gonna hang round him any more!!

Anyway Im venting so yeah!!

Sometimes some people whom you have just met and introduce himself to you , thinks that he immediatly turns to be your best friend , start to do what real friends used to do , ask whatever he wants without taking in his concediration that I might bothered them or embarrass them with my requests , some people think that we only have them in our lives or we basicly are free for what they need and want , and worst than that when they pass by after that as if you were never have been doing anything to help them , Oh have we met before?! , that's really the worst , to deny other's hand and not to be greatful , It really hurts , but you don't have to blame yourself that how foolish I am coz I gave them hand . Nothing more beautiful in this than helping others who are in need , it really gives you a wonderful feeling , I do and Give a hand with my awarness in advance that I'm doing that and not waiting for them to thank me or praise me , coz i'll kill myself waiting , but I'm doing that for the sake of God .

Long ago they have been saying don't make alot of friendships
they will smile to you always but once you need them , they all in glance will flee
the precious and golden ones are those who will remain then ..

For me , I have two friends but one who is in contact and she is the BEST FRIEND EVER
we have been true friends since we were 11 and now we are 21 ^_^
though we are busy with college and studying and we rarely find time to talk , but we still faithful and during vacations we mostly visit each others .
