Yeah... the last one is probably one of my old, favorite quotes.
I don't know if anyone has seen this floating around anywhere, but here ya go:
Love him or hate him, do you agree or disagree?

Hahah I'm like penis penis penis lalala <3[10/30/2012 10:46:16 PM] Mel (GypsyElder): I love Virgins haha
Rule 2: I just did some unmentionable, horrible, disgusting things for a Klondike bar
Rule 8: Does anyone ever fill out a scantron sheet and think this would make an epic guitar hero solo?
helmet strapped down, crayons sharpened, it's going to be a great day!
Rule 10: That awkward moment when the entire cast of the Jersey Shore dies from Skin Cancer
Did your mom f*** a bag of Doritos to make you so orange?
Rule 11: Never judge a book by it's cover, UNLESS the word Twilight is written on it.. then you know it's shit
Good reminder post though ..High-school is a joke and does not prepare you much for the real world. For instance: require all students take an Interpersonal Communications class so they have an understanding that, the way you interact with people may not fly so well outside their back-water voodoo concept of sheltered life.

I love the rule 4 xD What he had said is right ... for the most I agree !!!! ^^
Soo right...Rule 11: Never judge a book by it's cover, UNLESS the word Twilight is written on it.. then you know it's shit
Ohh, there is a ferret in my bedroom again...
These are basically the reasons I use when discussing the precious snowflake mentality. It wouldn't surprise me if there were corroborating statistics between treating kids like little princesses and princes and suicide rates in teens. If you can't handle peer pressure as a child, you will not be able to handle a job.
But let's be completely truthful shall we? Most colleges in the US do not prepare people for jobs either. They teach you the fundamental concepts of things but never test you on how you would perform real world problems. Computer Science for example. They'll teach you how to create things like doubly linked lists from scratch and how to write single-file applications. What they don't teach you is the 90% of the stuff you'll be dealing with all day every day. How do you manage a code base? SVN? Git? How do you set up your development suite to interface with a repository? Do you know how to use Maven? What is a POM file? How do you track bugs with JIRA? Can you figure out why your application isn't building in Jenkins? /soapbox
What the hell is a car phone?
You need to watch more 80's movies. Back when cell phones were bigger than walkie talkies we had corded phones in rich people's cars.
Any credible source to confirm these are actuall Bill Gates quotes?
Rule 347: Be skeptical.
There are some great points in there, but I fight the notion that the entirety of being succesful in society or 'life' can be summarized in a dozen sentences.
Crao Porr Cock8: Getting it while the getting's good
Really? You fight the notion? Well let me shed your doubt. The Ten Commandments. Less then a dozen sentences, and all that anybody needs in order to be successful in life.
I do agree with that list, which are supposedly the words of Mr. Gates. People are babied, or want to be babied far too much. Eventually you need to grow up, be a man, and stop giving a shit if something seems fair or not. As long as you're getting a paycheck, it doesn't make a difference.
If somebody can't handle the "real world," then too bad. Grow a pair and deal with it.
Flipping burgers beneath me?
HA!
I like having a part time minimum wage job that I'll never need to put on my resume because then I can act like a total jackass, half ass my job better than 90% of the people at it, including managers, sexually harass 16 year old girls and still bring home a pay check every two weeks. Plus it leaves time for endeavors such as wasting my time in the college system and having people film me punching faces in front of a crowd.

Very blunt, but then you kind of need to be blunt to get these messages across.
I like all of them, and they pretty much all true.

You can be absolutely brilliant but if you lack maturity and direction, you can succumb to blaming others for your failures, feeling sorry for yourself, etc. The main message I took from these 'rules' is that accountability for one's actions is essential in succeeding and to avoid delusions of grandeur.

I like it...esp 11. But I hope I end up WITH one.
But Number 1 resonates with me. We're human (i.e never be perfect) so I allow myself to cave to a whine every now and again about trivial things. Accountability is empowering so suck it up.
