Ive been here 4 years when feb hits. It was a bumby start, but I think ive made a few friends. Theres a lot of people on this forum I would consider a friend despite the wide disparity in our viewpoints. But all I've learned from that is that if you let shit like that stop you from listening to someone or being friendly and making an effort to understand them, then you make a big mistake.

And it's a little scary Ocean knowing that we're hitting our 13th year here. >< I still feel so old at times in this place because I joined after I already finished high school when others were still in school.

Well done for sticking with it Rowan, quite a few people joined in early 2011, you could easily count the active ones on one hand now. I hit 4 years sometime last week, those first two years were the best times I had here. Getting nominated for Nicest Male 3 years in a row is probably my biggest claim to fame haha.

Remember those little icons you could buy with Gil you made from posting? Those were fun, I think I had a full set of bronze armor before the forums moved on to its next form.

Almost half my life here. 14 years in April. That scares the hell out of me but is also kind of cool to think about all of the people I've met and had laughs with. And then to think of all of those internet best friends who we all had and have never heard from again. I just wish this place was as active as it was when I was new. You could miss a night or two and miss an insane amount of drama.

I joined back in 2008. What is that, like 16 years now? At least I think it's 2024. I could be wrong, but I'm about 99% sure. Anyway, back then I was an electrified lump of crab meat masquerading as a human being, but the prosthetic human skin got too expensive, so I had my doctor turn me into a buffalo.

Anyway, congratulations on your four years. That's like one hundred and twenty six million, two hundred and thirty thousand, and four hundred seconds. Ironically, that is literally how long I've been stalking Peter Weller.

I'm fairly new here, too! Yep. Please pay no attention to that join date to the left. That thing was broken when I joined.

Kudos for sticking with it, Rowan. I have existed here a long time. If you go to the member list and sort by join date chronologically, I am a first pager. You could say I am one of Those Who Came Before. But I am not important... just a guy, really. The system behind the member list is a little different now, but I actually remember my memberID back when I first joined: #501. Yep. Five-hundred people, many of whom were cool to chat with, beat me to the punch. Pete predates me by about a month. Many thousands of people---and a good percentage of spambots---followed (and have been purged). Many of you have been cool to chat with, too.

Longevity is a bitch, though. The worst part about being around this long is losing contact with so many of those cool people when life got in the way. I still have a few on my list(s) but so many more have fallen through the cracks of time, as it were. If I had a wish for this place, it would be for all of the cool people to return once in a while and drop a line. It doesn't happen often enough. But I'm one to talk. I disappeared for years at a time.

Thanks for not leaving in the midst of the bullshit era! It's ridiculous to think that this website has existed (in many different forms) for sixteen years now, and that a lot of us who are still hanging out have been here for 80%+ of that time. THIS is why I love this place, even when it's slow, because we're f'n family man.
