The people of greece fell for the lie that socialism means free money, hearts, stars and unicorns.
The citizens of that country need to decide whether they want to work hard and enjoy economic freedom or to find another teat to attempt to suckle.
From my home in the US, I feel no ripple from that crumbling country. I am watching simply to draw any potential knowladge as far as governing philosophy, how it is precieved by the people, how it is carried out and what the effects are.
Obviously, socialism leads to a country in shambles.
I'm kind of hoping greece turns to either communism or extreeme liberalism.
Communism because I believe that the sheer profit the govt would make will make it seem like greece has turned its situation around, only for more trouble to develop in later years/decades. Unless china takes them under their wing (which would be very interesting).
Extreeme liberalism because it is not far from socialism, the problems would continue as the governing philosophy would not change much. The country would continue to see hard times and nothing would be fixed.
Of course, the best thing for the people would be to return to democracy, focus on whatever type of industry they can and start regaining social and economic freedoms they have given up.
But that wouldnt teach me anything.
Good luck, Greece.
Hopefully the people and the govt realize that complacency and lazyness are what caused your problems to begin with. There is no easy way out.
