    Rebuild of Evangelion 1.01 *Spoilers*

    Just watched this movie.
It was pretty good. The visuals were certainly nice and the 6th angel was totally awesome.

Though, not sure what Anno intends to do in later movies with new characters, new (weird) designs and "Shikinami".

Well, I guess the only thing I can do is wait for the next movie to be subbed.

PS: Kinda funny that Shinji is still using a walkman for tapes.
It's set in 2030, so you'd think the very least they change it to an mp3 player.

It really isn't that much different from the original series, is it? They seemed to follow the original show almost frame by frame for most of the movie, and only towards the end-like the last 45 minutes to a half hour-did it seem to deviate, if I recall correctly (been a few months since I watched it.) That last 45 minutes or so felt like completely new material, almost.

So how many movies are they supposed to break the series into? 4? I also heard speculation that these movies are somehow supposed to take place after the series and End of Evangelion, because the water's red in the beginning like the water in EoE, and little differences if you watch it frame by frame, or something... Sounds kinda like going over something with a fine-toothed comb, if you ask me, eh? Silliness. Anyhoo...

I heard the 4 movies are re-telling the TV series and EoE with some changes.

Actually I didn't notice any real changes in the first movie.
Sure, animations were different, but the content was pretty much the same.

Alright, so here's how the movies are breaking down: The first three are a re-telling of the original series/movies, and the last one is going to be completely new. There's been no word on what the fourth one will be about, as they've been quite tight-lipped about it (as evidenced by the subtitles for the movies in Japan: "Jo, Ha, Kyū, and ?" >_<). Other sources break it down saying that the first three will recap the series and the last will be a definitive (but still completely new) ending.

Also, in response to the speculation about the movies taking place after EoE, I wouldn't entirely discount that theory, as strange as it seems. I think it's too early to tell either way, though, as we'd probably have to wait for further evidence down the line because for now, the connections seem too tenuous (but not altogether unbelievable) to be certain.

Lastly, with regards to the movies being mostly a frame-by-frame re-telling of the original, rest assured that that scenario has already mostly played itself out by the end of the movie. Without giving anything away about the second movie, I'll just say that it's already completely different from the original series AND the movies. Besides the addition of a new pilot, they've completely re-written sequences of events, changed the outcome of other events, and then some. However, I've only read synopses and spoilers about the movie and I'm just biding my time (however eagerly) until it comes out so I can see it in all its glory with my own two eyes.

    Sounds sweet.
We really wouldn't need an exact re-telling of what everyone has watched 5+ times already.
