How do you watch your anime?

Lately I have been watching a lot lately, mostly Berserk, Ah! My Goddess and Dragonball Z/GT. Anyway I watch it various ways I can get it, basically download the first few episodes and if its good I buy the DVD. But because I will probably waste my money on something else stupid I have brought the Boxed sets and will probably continue this way. Also I watched FMA and InuYusha(sp) when it is on Adult Swim and occasionally DBZ on YouTube seem as how they have all the eps. How do you guys watch it?

Here in Norway a DVD with 4 episodes cost between 400 and 700 Kroners, which is about 100$. So nobody here buys animè. We download it. Manga is buyable though. Usually costs about 15$ per. Tankabon. Well, then again Animè and Manga aren't that popular over here.

And..Watch animè on YouTube? I barerly manage to watch trailers on it with that horrible quality, how do you watch entire episodes O_o?

With my eyes.

Usually I download because I generally hate anime but I am equal opprotunity so yeah. I own about five different series' as box sets though, much to my own amazement. They're actually pretty stupid. Seriel Experiments Lain, Neon Genesis Evangelion, Outlaw Star, Final Fantasy Unlimited, and Wild ARMs: Twilight Vemon.

Nevermind, they are all pretty damn good animes. FF:U is goddamn strange though.

I just watch it on TV or buy it. I do not buy at random though, I will have seen a trailer for it on previous anime I have bought and say it looks good enough for me to buy. Other times I will have read an article about it or a review and get it. And then on the rare times, I just buy a really cheap box set at Best Buy because I have trouble resisting good deals. That was how I got Sakura Wars, $40 for 25 episodes, can't beat that in store.

The only purchase I actually regret is Angel Links, because it was a spinoff of Outlaw Star so I thought it would actually be good, maybe the dubbing and translations were poor, but I can't watch it. Other than that I have never regreted a single purchase.
Curious? There's no limits but your own imagination.

I have this problem with actually having to own the anime that I watch. Mainly because there aren't really any stations here that focus on anime. We tried to call our local cable provider to get the Anime Network, but they said it was unavailable. Horse shit.

Anyway, I usually buy either a complete box set, the box and just the first volume, or one at a time. Right now, I have the Full Metal Panic? box set to fill in. Sadly, I'll have to go online to get the rest of the volumes.

i watch it on tv and with dish/tivo i can also record them so i like doing that, record a whole series and make your box set, lol but id rather buy it mainly for the covers and the authenticity

This image has been removed because it not only stretches the forum tables, but it is also the header banner of our sister site, Eyes on Final Fantasy. In the future, take the time to actually make a banner appropriate for forum use, as that was much too large.

I buy the DVDs one at a time or watch it on TV for the most part. I don't go for the boxed sets simply for the fact that I don't have room to display my DVDs and, since they're just going under my bed in a box, I don't need to spend the extra money on pretty-looking boxes. If it's one of those boxed sets that are released as good deals (i.e., cheaper than buying the individual DVDs, like Andromeda mentioned), that's another story.

Nowadays, a lot of my anime comes from TV due to my decreased lack of funds. The fact that Trinity Blood and Bleach are coming to TV soon excite me (especially the former, as I've seen some of it and like it a whole lot).

And then on occasion, you'll find me downloading fansubs, though NEVER of licensed materials. For example, I started downloading Monster over two years now and, while I've made very little progress in the last year (like...six episodes -_-'''), I still intend on watching it until it gets licensed (if it ever gets licensed). The same goes for the live-action version of GTO, which I started a little less than two years ago and plan on continuing my über-slow downloading of the series until I finish it/it gets licensed.

But yeah--I usually get my fix from TV and DVDs.

Well, this is how I answered the question in this thread initially....

But yeah--I usually get my fix from TV and DVDs.
But that was three and a half years ago. >_<

Nowadays, there's very little anime I actually watch on TV, though that's not entirely my doing. The only anime I watch on TV now is Monster, which I have to go to my girlfriend's house to watch, as my cable provider no longer gives me the SyFy channel. -_-' (of note, yes--I DID finish Monster when I was downloading it all those years ago. I'm quite obsessed, though, and want to watch its English dub on TV. I'm also buying the boxed sets as they come out because of how awesome it is). That's really all I watch on the actual television, though.

Now, much more of my anime is brought to me via streaming sites (specifically, Adult Swim in the past few years and FUNimation more recently). Thanks to Adult Swim's site, I managed to watch all of Death Note, plus both seasons of Code Geass at my own convenience (though, with Death Note and the first season of Code Geass, I ended up watching them weekly/as they were released, anyway >_<). I've since dabbled on Anime News Network's streaming services (I started watching Gundam 00 on it over the summer, but I've yet to see it through to the end), and now FUNi has been providing me with two of my latest endeavours, namely Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood (awaiting its return with episode 40 this week! ^^) and, at the suggestion of Kevin (Spike here on the boards), Higurashi ni Naku Koro ni ("Higurashi- When they Cry" is the dubbed name).

So yeah, that's a pretty beefy portion of my anime watching. I still do the fansubbed thing, too. I've been watching Hetalia (just watched ep. 50) and Cross Game (just watched 40) that way, too. Also of note, the new (and final) season of Nodame Cantabile will be starting this week, so that'll be on my list, too.

Of course, I still buy the DVDs, but mostly just in boxed set form (I -did- end up buying all of Death Note once they released the boxes, I already mentioned Monster, and I still need to pick up the other Romeo x Juliet boxed set once Borders has it off of back order). Of note, those were all shows I was watching fansubbed at some point (save for Death Note), so that goes to show that I do intend to support the industry by buying the shows I really like. The only single DVD releases I've picked up in the last year or so were mostly movies (a few Lupin III movies I hadn't yet acquired, the first Rebuild of Evangelion movie, etc.) The one exception was the one disc I was missing in my Eva platinum collection, but that was just because I started buying them years ago before the box was released and I only needed one more DVD to complete my set.

But yeah, the point of that is...my 2010 anime intake has seen a decrease in TV watching and an increase in streamed anime watching since August of 2006 (when I last posted in this thread). Let's see what happens in the years to come!

Well it depends, many of the good anime weren't released in my country. So Elfen Lied/FMAC/Chobits/dearS and all that i watch at youtube..
But when it comes to hentai... Um... I got to go ...

12. #12
I download my anime, as most of the anime I watch, or when watching aren't in the US at the time... before I used to buy DVDs for Anime, but they kept screwing me over, making boxed sets AFTER the release of all the DVDs, making me spend WAY more money then I should have, or dropping the price of the DVDs AFTER I spent the money purchasing them. They also do some bull shit like remastering DVDs AFTER purchasing the complete series.. it's soooo annoying.. and now they're screwing you again by making these gay special edition empty boxsets that you "fill in" as they release.. wtf is that? Then I bet after that releases they're gonna make a special edition box set that's complete but completely better than the first one. Ugh..

So for now I'm screwing them over and downloading my anime. And/or watching it for Free on Youtube, even though that's kinda gay since it's all low res. -_-

I watch on TV, use Toonami Jetstream, or utilize Youtube or in rare cases, I WILL buy the Dvds.

I voted in all of them. I use Jetstream alot and do everything else. I guess it al depends on waht mood Im in. I usually get the boxsets for my favorite animes. As for the single DVDS I do that for the REALLY good ones so that I can savor them untill I have the whole series.

I watch them on television if there are any on or I just end up buying the DVD's. I haven't got any boxed sets yet but I would love to have the boxed set of Neon Genesis Evangelion. I have seen it at Ezydvd but it's out of stock at the moment. I will probably end up getting it sometime hopefully. I would love to watch the whole series! I have a few separate DVD's of Evangelion and DBZ/GT besides that, I watch it on the television.

They are all downloaded on my computer, some i have burned on a dvd. So it depends, i have together over 1000 anime episodes, and i usually watch them all over and over again. Though, it will take a while.

I have a large collection of boxsets and I usually watch them from the box set. Downloading them I think doesn't let me enjoy the series as much as from a DVD.

I'm split about 50/25 with watching on TV and buying. Back when they had good anime on at a reasonable hour, anyways. I don't watch much on TV anymore cause they took all the good series off.

The remaining 25% of the time I download, but I'm very specific about what I get this way. If someone recommends an anime to me, I download and watch the first 2-3 episodes, sometimes 4-5. If I like the anime and it is licensed in the US, I delete the downloads and buy the DVDs. If I like the anime and it's unlicensed, I download and keep until (if) it becomes licensed, then delete and buy. I'm a strong believer in supporting anime companies as much as possible, so I only use downloading for scouting purposes.

Yeah I used to do that too, until they kept screwing me over. After buying an entire series, they come out with a box set... what's that all about.. -__- Special Edition at that... Then they do that with the first DVD, it comes with a special box.. so now I'd have to find the DVDs.. and complete the box myself.. half the time the stores don't even have ALL the dvds there anyway..... So, now. if it's a series I'm interested in, and it's licensed.. I'll look to see if I can DL it to watch, iono bout keeping them after I've watched them though.. but I'll get back to you after I finish. lol.. As for the most part I usuallY do..

That's why I order them online. Well, that and the fact that the local Suncoast recently closed down. -_- Then I don't have to worry about skipping parts just cause it's not in stock.

As for boxed sets, I don't own any. If I'd waited a few years to buy Outlaw Star I could have picked that one up, but meh. I don't care too much either way. Most of the series I buy are short enough that the difference between the box and the individual sets isn't a big deal.

Kenshin did cost quite a chunk of change though, and I only bought the first two seasons lol.

I'm the same as Keisuke. I download my anime. Except I burn them to DVD-R.
And since I'm poor most of the time and have to concentrate on my loans, I'll pay those off first before I go out and buy the box sets.

I don't bother with single DVDs because they always come out with boxed sets. So far, I only have two boxed sets. Mezzo and Wild Arms. I bought Mezzo myself from Anime Expo, and my girlfriend bought me Wild Arms.
