Well there is less filler, for Shippuuden since they're starting a new series technically, but there has been some filler for maybe a few minutes total =P if you want to get all anal about it.. lol. But the whole first 4 episodes dragged on, but it was an interesting twist since it went into more detail from what was represented in the manga, so not all filler is bad. =P

Keisuke Takahashi - What was the actual filler bit? I have not read the first part of the Manga however I have read the latest ones with the fights which looked quite interesting (won't say anything else, wanna know then read it)
I think the fillers are ok now and then but I am not keen on watching 60 in 1 go which is why I skipped them however when I am bored I will probably go back and watch them while I wait for the new ones to show. I do think the first 4 Episodes kind of dragged on, would have been nice to see a bit more action going on but I suppose thats how they have to do it for now.
Well it's nothing really major, they just prolong what happened in the manga, which is understandable since it's animation rather than a comicbook that has so much space in the weekly jumps.. but you get the point. =P
His coming back to Konoha was a little skewed, the first what 5 minutes wasn't in the manga, least not where I'm at? lol.. And the way he runs into his old buddies was changed a bit, but the story basically progresses around the same line and gets the point across, but like I said I guess these things are to be expected from the manga to anime conversion, but I'm not complaining about it.
Thank christ and I'll look into Shippuden soon. Anyway is there anything on Akatsuki during all these fillers? Just a question I'd like answering. Also I've heard of something called Kakashi Gaiden (sp?). Is that just fillers about Kakashi's past and if it is, what number episode does it start? As for the manga, i can never get my hands. So much for living in england.Originally Posted by Great Writer Fuji

Yup, it wasn't made into the anime. It was put into the anime about when the fillers start for the manga, they don't really do anything with the Naruto storyline, but it does give you a little background info about our Jounin friend Kakashi here. I thought it was pretty good, they could do an OAV/Jump Fiesta about it for the anime, that'd be cool.
I love ovas...but sometimes,I wish they're one with the anime

That doesn't necessarily explain anything about why you like them.. =TOriginally Posted by Kawaii Shoujo
Well most of the time OAVs are just side stories to the Anime it's based from... most of the time they're also shown as pilot episodes for the anime, and if they get good reviews they usually start coming out with the anime.. a lot of the times the Seiyuu (Voice actors) are different in the Fiesta Jumps.
Shippuuden's looking pretty alright. The fluff they use to pad the episodes up is really unnecessary (reminds me of that episode with Naruto and Gamabunta before the final exam), but that's pretty normal. They'd probably soak up the entire manga thus far within a few months if they didn't. The epicness is also quite a tone change...But it's all growing pains right now.
The only real gripe I have is Deidara's voice. I had imagined it to be something different from other characters, but it's just standard. I sorta guessed it would end up being like that though, what with the very last part of the final non-filler episode. I just can't wait until it actually gets good. =P This arc, even in the manga, was sorta a low point...Haha.
They'll probably squeeze in Kakashi Gaiden somewhere. I think they'd just stick it in somewhere between arcs, rather than in an OVA. They managed to pull it off before with that manga special about Kakashi's mask. That was...Crazy. =P
Yeah that was true, lol they even went further to add more gags, lol. I thought that was a pretty funny episode.Originally Posted by SOLDIER #819

That was one of the few filler I actually liked, lol. Aho! Aho!Originally Posted by Keisuke Takahashi

I can't remember who I had based it off of though. Maybe Dilandau from Escaflowne, just a bit calmer. He also seems taller in the anime...Maybe that's just my imagination. At least he still likes bombs though. Deidara's partner (whose name I won't speak) was done well though.
I remember it being mentioned a while ago, about how the art looks a little iffy. They've been having that problem for a while, if you look at the episodes before Orochimaru's appearance in the forest of death. There was that episode before Sasuke appears to take on Gaara...That was freakin' terrible, hahaha. I like how they experimented during the Naruto/Sasuke fight though...Lots of skin rippling.

Yes, Deidra's partner is badass.. xD can't wait to see those animated.Originally Posted by SOLDIER #819
lol yeah, that fight was kinda funny to watch in the anime form.. haha Sasuke was all deformed looking... iono it was like they changed the way they colored or something. It seemed lighter, to me anyways. The sketches of the characters... well they kinda reminded me of Metabots.. LOL iono why, they just did.
The coloring was a lot greyer, but the way they drew everything got weird too. I think they were trying to make it freeform. I've taken some Sasuke shots just for this occasion.Originally Posted by Keisuke Takahashi

I haven't seen Metabots in a long time though. I just remember the Metaforce thing. "I rock...!" Haha.
Yeah, that's what I was talking about, during the fight. Though Iono what you mean by your Sasuke/Gaara pre-battling thing. Why shouldn't they air it? I don't get it.. =T
Anyone keeping up with the latest manga chapters? Naruto is finally going for another new turn in the plot after what happened between Sasuke and Orocimaru... 'm really looking forward to it.
Maybe the pictures don't show it too well. The image and animation quality just sucked terribly, especially during the second half of it. It was like they were rushing to get done so they could worry about the upcoming double ep. =P It got a little better after, but it was a really noticeable dip...For me, anyway.Originally Posted by Keisuke Takahashi

I have been tempted to go through the manga, I read a few chapters between 338 - 341 I believe it was but there is a lot I missed I presume.
If you plan to start the manga, Chapter 245 onward is Shippuuden's storyline. Of course, if you're interested in the Kakashi Gaiden, then start from Chapter 239.
Besides the fact that Sasuke is taller, I don't really see much changes in his face. Sakura and Naruto does look older though. Naruto doesn't look as chubby anymore in Shippuuden. And Sakura's hair is spikier.
Ok, I have a question for S and/or Keisuke.
I stopped watching Naruto when I started playing FFXI, as I'm sure you both know. I'm getting back into anime again and I'd like to catch up in Naruto. I've only seen up until about episode 82ish (can't remember exactly...I'll likely start from the last episode I clearly remember, which would be 80). What I want to know is at what episode do the fillers start, and are they worth watching? If they aren't I could just skip to the new, non-filler series without missing anything, right?
I'm asking mainly because once I finish buying a few series I already started, I'm going to start collecting Naruto. As huge as it's getting, I want to avoid watching the fillers if possible, as that would mean I would then be required to buy them. Normally I would anyways for completion's sake, but 60+ fillers...that is a bit much for me. I'd like to avoid that if possible, but if it means I'll be missing stuff that shows up later on, I will probably end up getting the whole thing.

DragonHeart - The fillers start at Episode 136 - 220 so you got a little way to go away yet. I have seen some of them and they are ok to watch if you are bored and have seen everything else however I kind of find them boring and prefer to watch Shuppiden.
Speaking of which, is it just me or does it kind of feel like its dragging on? I suppose having to wait a week for each episode makes it feel that way as I am used to watching 10 episodes in 1 sitting.
Kibamaru - I noticed that two, except of course what he is wearing. Sakura hasn't really changed that much either besides being taller at least I feel. I want to see how much the rest of them have changed.
Winter just about has it. 136 and onward to Shippuuden are filler. The problem is that, even when 136 is completed, there is one important detail that is not learned until the end of the first filler arc (that actually does take place in the manga). So if you plan on buying the series, it may be best to go that far (141 is the final episode of that mini-filler arc, I think). Episodes 102-106 are also a filler arc. Episode 101 is technically a filler as well, but the first few minutes are actually something that takes place in a Naruto manga "special." Probably the best of the fillers, lol. Oh oh! Episode 97 is also a filler. =POriginally Posted by DragonHeart
Avoiding them all is a little over the top though. I may say bad things about them, and I really mean it, but there are people who actually enjoy them. So give it a go and see how you like it, if you really want to. There's already a ton of stuffing inserted into Naruto episodes to make them longer, so it doesn't exactly hurt (unless it does, like for me =P).

Well, I don't necessarily mean avoiding -all- the fillers, but if a huge chunk of the series has no relevance, then I'd rather not buy them. I mean, chances are I may still eventually see them at some point in the future, but if they aren't all that good, I don't want to waste my time and money.
Thank you, though. ^^ This will help me make that decision when I get there.

The filler wasn't all too bad, i thought. Thought since it was filler I wasn't as excited to watch the episodes, but I eventually did as I picked up the Naruto series again when Shippuuden was starting. As S says, it's really up to you if you want to avoid buying them, but I'd say at least download them to watch since they aren't up that far on DVD. If you like them, buy them, if not, don't. But like everyone's saying you won't really miss anything except for Naruto doing some random missions with the other gennin Ninjas
If you feel Shippuuden is really dragging and want to kill time doing something Naruto-related, then mine as well watch fillers.
I can't remember exactly but the first and last few filler arcs have small bits of non-filler issues. And as much as fillers can make the characters look retarded, I have to admit they are funny and sort of worthwhile to watch (eg. Laughing Shino and the ep when naruto pee on the rooftop making it look like rain).
One of the major bad things about the fillers are the enemies. They're just so weird and random...
What were the episode numbers for those two events? I'll download just those two episodes, just to see them. I may hate fillers, but I am also really bored.Originally Posted by Kibamaru

Wikipedia has a good list of the Filler saga. It comes with a short summary of it, so you might wanna watch those that interest you. Really, just be prepared for all the silly looking enemies.
Hehe, yeah the anime still excites me cos some battles are nice to read in the manga and they turn out great when animated. I can't wait for it to move on to Sai's introduction arc.
This week's issue of the manga was seriously awesome. I was laughing for a good 5 minutes. Between this and the story-driven aspects, I think that this is probably the best chapter I've seen in a while. It's looking more and more promising as it goes on.
