As a group they are much worse than Orochimaru. MUCH worse. Jiraiya even makes a mention of this. In their own way, some of them are probably on par with Itachi. But even at this point in the manga there are still unrevealed members (or revealed members with unrevealed abilities). There's a long way to go.Quote:

And in my opinion, Itachi and Orochimaru are nothing compared to some of the Akatsuki members, specifically, Hidan & Kakuzu. Why?

They managed to kill Asuma, who is strong in his own way. Hidan has immortality and I say he is way stronger than Kakuzu. So what if Kakuzu is able to steal ppl's hearts and use them to extend his life; From the recent chapters his heart can still be defeated by Hidan's ritual. If Hidan were to fight Kakuzu, all he needs to do is just stab himself in the areas where Kakuzu's heart resides. That should kill him off.

Asuma is not on par with a member of Akatsuki despite having been one of the stronger jounin in the village. His true power lies in attack, but he was still having trouble against Kisame (who seems to be very powerful all around). The fact that he died is a surprise, but that's more due to Kishimoto's style of keeping characters alive even after they "die."
As for the Hidan vs. Kakuzu thing...Have you seen the latest, latest chapters? I don't want to say anything until I know you've read them.

the first...i didnt like much of the second...that stupid rasengan he did in the end putting the bad guy (dont remember the name...) wheeling in the air was.......

For any who watches the dubs >>; lol, did you see Naruto last night? I throught the episode was cool, but what really cut me off "alittle" was how Naruto was put to sleep so easly and Sakura knew what to do to avoid it lol. Found out why last night lol, Kaikashi is a slick one lol just teaching genjutsu to Sakura. Thing is in Season 1 I never really saw him teach Naruto that much, as much as he tought Sasuke and Sakura, maybe because he had techiques inside of him the whole time. But back on point, the show had some good plot twists to it like: ( For those who did'nt see it spoiler here it comes, to those who saw it you know how it was: I was lol when I saw Aroachemru in disguise next to the hocoag ( hard to pronouce) but what really surprized me was how he did'nt kill him, just toying with him lol. When kaikashi talked about a A rank mission for the next episode I was like finally lol. I know next weekends one is going to be good.:D
yeah.... I have known that for a while. Try youtube and look up around episode 70 and you can watch the whole invasion attempt thing.

I would suspect that Itachi is at the same level as a Sannin (Which is above Hokage right?) or even more as that group is more powerful than Orochimaru. These are all guessing, I have yet to find the details on their power

For example, the Hyuuga clan, known for their Byakugan eye or the Uchiha clan, whelders of the formidable Sharingan could have been chosen - Hyuuga Hinata and Uchiha Sasuke were also born the same year as Naruto. There were certainly other children as well born around the same time - ironically, Naruto was just born, making him ideal in that aspect.
However, that was not the only reason. Naruto contains a huge amount of chakra, which Kakashi states is double the amount of his - and with the Kyuubi, it could be 100 times as much. This was inportant in being able to combat the poisonous chakra of the most powerful bijuu - as seen when Sakura barely came in contact with it, she was hurt quite badly from a small wound.

It's a great start to 2007, even Bleach has no more fillers!! Naruto's voice actor seems to be the same, but a bit deeper. Hmm, I had expected it to be much more deeper, he's already 15.

At the time of the exam I would guess that he is above the average Chuunin due to the Kyuubi chakra. The case is sorta the same with Gaara. I could see him beating Chuunin at that time, but could not honestly see him going toe-to-toe with a Jounin. Gai, for instance, was easily able to deal with Gaara's sand. But the moment that he unlocked Shukaku the situation changed completely. However, Sasuke was originally able to stop Shukaku's summoning by taking the initiative and piercing Gaara's 'impenetrable defense.'
Kakashi is not as strong as a Sannin though. He has many limitations due to his bloodline incompatibility with the Sharingan, and his overall chakra is probably only somewhat above average. He is a genius ninja though, and quite young. He could surpass a Sannin in time, but at this point he lacks the battle experience. He is still weaker than Itachi, who is also not Sannin level. Itachi himself stated that if he and Kisame fought Jiraiya (a Sannin) head on, the best case scenario would be them killing Jiraiya in the process of him killing them. More men would not change the outcome of this. So while Itachi outclasses most Jounin by far, he is not yet of Sannin level.
The Sannin are not necessarily stronger than Hokage level though. The thing is that the Hokage level fluctuates. It is the term for the strongest ninja in Konoha, while Sannin refers to Jiraiya, Tsunade, and Orochimaru specifically. The Third and Fourth were probably as strong as Sannin, and in the case of the 3rd had exceeded that of a Sannin thus far while in his prime. But basically, you could just say that, right now, Hokage level and Sannin level are the same thing, especially since the Fifth is one of the Sannin.
And Akatsuki...It's sorta hard to say when we don't even know who the leader is. I would venture to say that most known members are about as strong as Itachi in their own way, if not slightly stronger (though not in the realm of a Sannin). I assume that Orochimaru is at a big disadvantage right now, effectively lowering his level. This is one reason why he is at a great disadvantage to Akatsuki. I won't explain the reason unless you want to know, though, even if it's rather simple. The other reason is Akatsuki's sheer numbers, but that would be less of a problem if Orochimaru was in his prime.

I'm not sure what the reason was for placing the Kyuubi within Naruto. I doubt it's because someone knew that Naruto's chakra capacity was extremely large though. It most likely has to do with his connection to the Fourth, whether it be familial or something else. I would say that it is kind of like Naruto Z as in a carry on from the first series in the future, plus it will probably last much longer than the first (not counting the fillers) but that is just a guess... I guess we'll have to wait and see how long it lasts.
Also I just saw the first episode of Shippuden and I agree that the beginning was kind of meh, but ok. I still have not seen all the fillers but as there is a wait between each episode I will probably catch up to them in between, also I am guessing the next episode will be more interesting than the first one(s).
yeah, definately, with the anime finally continuing the manga's story things should get pretty intense pretty soon. Though watching the first episode, seeing those "time for me to show you the next letter" weird shit... got me thinking.. they aren't going to do that again are they? lol.. well at least after they finish spelling "Shippuuden" At least that's what it looked like they were trying to spell, to me anyways... =T
I don't like what the people are doing to naruto, like they overblow some things and do crap with some of the good things.
That's why I watch the subtitled episodes now, they are a lot better, and you can watch em whenever you want, and not have to wait til saturday comes round to watch em.

I did not like the new music, it reminded me of the atrocity of which is DBGT. But hopefully this time through the even things out better so they do not have to push out so many fillers, or at least time them better so there is not 50 in 1 go.
I have given up on the English dub, takes too long to catch up but I will probably watch them if I go through the old series again. I think the English dub should try and skip most of the fillers that way it will catch up to the Japanese version quicker and people won't get bored so quickly, however whether they will or not is the question.

Ah yes, well no real concern but just figured it was kind of different. I read the latest manga and it looked quite interesting, the overrall quality dropped when the fillers started but it looks like they are getting back on track and it will interesting to watch, you can tell Naruto is more mature than before though he seems a bit too quiet I dunno.
Also I heard they are making a forth movie which takes place in the Hurricane Chronicles which should be interesting to watch, the only 1 I have seen so far is when they see that actor and go to the Snow Village or something, I'll have to look for the other 2 some time. Right now I am still watching the fillers out of boredom mostly.
Yeah, the Snow Princess one, that was the first movie. That wasn't too bad. The second one was alright as well... but I don't think the third one is out yet, fansubbed that is. Least, I haven't seen it >.>;

Hmm, it seems the 1st movie will be dubbed in English. I'm glad they don't just do the normal episodes, but movies and OVAs as well.
I've seen the first 2 movies, waiting patiently for the 3rd one to be subbed now...
I started watching Naruto in English but a lot of people who had watched it in japanese told me that its much better in japanese so what I did was that I watched the series up until episode 135 because it was all fillers from there forward and for Shippuden I just read the manga.
Also I like more the music from Shippuden than the original series, I fell its more epic and stands out more than the other ones. The sad song from the first series, I think its called "Sadness and Sorrow", its really good so i don't know how they are going to top that. And if you watched the HUGE spoiler for anime-only watchers that is the first 8 minutes before the intro on the first episode, well that song is also very good and a bit more "mature".
I can't say much but right now on the manga its getting very interesting, and you can really see the obious DBZ roots it has, because if you didn't know Kishimoto is a huge fan of DBZ.
Well i haven't watched Shippuden yet but I am thinking about looking for it on the internet. If they already have in on youtube though I'll probaly watch it there. However i haven't watched naruto in ages since i got bored after episode 135+ just likeFFsaiya-jin.
Spoiler: I just don't get the whole prison break idea and how it all fits in. Plus Fujin and Raijin (sp?), i can't quite enjoy it when them in. I personal think the prison thing is a stupid idea but i haven't watched further so i might be proved wrong.
As for english and japanese, i always got for the japanese versions of animes. Mainly because nothing is missed and also with naruto, the english is only upto about episode 50 so i could get further on the internet.
Sorry, I hate Naruto :(
It was ok in the beginning, but the story imo started getting really boring and dragged on. Eventually I just stopped watching it and went out to do something productive of my life :)
