News Post Final Fantasy XV Town Preview and Jump Festa Q&A

Tabata showed up for the Jump Festa event to show off new parts of Final Fantasy XV and give an Q&A about what was seen. From the trailer they released. He was able to confirm that Cid is in the game, but that she won't be important to the story part of the game. Rather she is going to be important to the player's adventure. She will help out the player, likely working on their car or even making weapons.

He could confirm that Titan was in the video and that he will be summonable for the player. However, Titan is very important to the story, so he can go into a lot of details on him. He did assure for the demo that there will be a summon for the players to obtain and be able to use. He promises that it will be flashy and give the players a taste of what the system is like.

Magic is something that only Noctis can use, but he said that it would be bad for gameplay that only he can do it. So they found a way for the other party members to able to do something like magic. The system is being polished and finished up after the summon system, so more will be seen on it later.

The town shown off will work like classic FF towns. He confirmed that everything players come to expect to do in a town will be there, shoppings, inns, exploring, quests and NPCs. He also said that they are trying to make the game as seamless as possible. So it is very possible that the player could transition from the field into town without a loading screen. They are still working on it, so there may still be some loading screens. However, he did confirm that the demo will be one single area, no loading screens.

The train shown in the trailer will be something the player will be able to ride. And while the train is moving the player can walk about it.

There is also a different system created for the player's adventure for leveling and world travel. Camping is a very important part of the game. He said that if the player's do not sleep regularly they will lose their buffs, things like being in good spirits and feeling good. Also the leveling system is tied to sleep. You can't use your earned experience to level unless you sleep. So if players want to a low level run, it is possible while still fighting, where normally they would have to be avoided.

The current day/night cycle is set to about an hour for 24 hours in game, but they still it is still being balanced.

Looks like things are coming along nicely with Tabata at the helm. It was a nice Q&A he did, much better than what Nomura had done for years. SE should really take to heart Tabata's openness and not shroud everything in secrecy. Keeping us, their fans, informed is better for keeping our interest than releasing nothing.

It seemed like the English voice-acting wasn't that well synced up so far but for the overall voices I am sure they'll be fine. I checked out the japanese trailer, their voice-actors seemed pretty basic/stereotypical as well.

Yeah Tabata definitely seems to be very much about the facing with the community and the fans. I hope that some of it is also coming from SE though encouraging this level of interaction. But he does seem very genuine with his desire to talk about the game and get people excited.
