    Breaking Bad

Anyone seen this? It's a show starring the dad from Malcolm in the Middle, and he is NOT like the dad from Malcolm in the Middle. He is a science teacher named Walter White who also works part time at a car wash to support his wife, son, and another child on the way. In the middle of the first episode, he has a coughing fit and faints. Turns out he has lung cancer and has about a year to live. The proceeding scenes, he flips out at the car wash job and quits, goes on a ride along with his brother in law to an arrest at a meth lab, and decides he will cook meth in order to support his family. And that's just part of the first episode.

I've watched 6 of the 7 episodes from the first season so far, and I think it's pretty awesome. A lot of funny moments, and a lot of serious, heavy moments. Like a scene involving "the talking pillow" (works as an example of both.) I hear that Bryan Cranston has won for Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series at the Emmys every year that show has been on so far, and I can see why. The supporting cast is really good too; Aaron Paul, the guy who plays Mr. White's partner, also won an award the first year apparently.

It's a little slow at times, but definitely worth a watch. Anyhoo...

    Re: Breaking Bad

I love this damn show. Oh my god. Bryan Cranston is a ****ing amazing actor. God he's good.

The show is well written, intense, heartbreaking, hilarious.... I can't say enough about it. If you're on the first season, just wait. Oh my god.

Last night, I watched the second episode of season 4 when it aired (boyfriend came over.... I made stuffed mushrooms, it was the best night). That particular episode was sort of slow, but the next one looks tight. They do that sometimes - have a slow episode that sets the stage for a goddamn ridiculous one to follow.

    Re: Breaking Bad

I'm done watching the first season, and honestly, I wouldn't call it great. It starts out good, great in fact, than slows down quite a bit giving us bits and pieces.

At first it was hard to picture Bryan Cranston in somewhat serious role being "Malcom's dad" after all, but that changed soon, as you two said he's a great actor, and I enjoy his performance. My brother tells me it gets only better with every episode so I'm looking forward to that.

I've seen bits and pieces of the show on Foxtel when Dad used to have the movie channels package, but since he downgraded i haven't been able to see it since. I'll have to look into securing a copy of the first three seasons on DVD or at least rent them out xD

    Re: Breaking Bad

I absolutely love this show. I started watching it on Netflix a few weeks ago and have finished all three seasons on there, and started watching Season 4 online two nights ago. I can't wait to see the second episode of it tonight after work!

The acting is rather good all around. There are certainly some episodes, and scenes, which serve little purpose, but those are offset by the freaking incredible ones. The final episodes of season three were completely fucking ridiculous. I'm glad the cast has won awards for this show.

Who on earth could have thought up such a great idea. It seems obvious now, but I never would have thought: "what if a chemistry teacher found out he had cancer and decided to cook meth to support his family when he dies?"

Yeah, you definitely have to keep watching. It is the only show on TV now that I can say with all certainty gets better and better. Cranston is amazing, but so is the cinematography and writing. The first season is almost nothing more than a teaser of what's to come. Right now I'm so pumped for Sunday's episode that I'm freaking out a little haha.

Seriously, one of the finest shows on TV since The Sopranos or The Wire.

    Re: Breaking Bad

Here's something fun for those of you who have already seen all 4 seasons in their entirety: I am the one who knocks.

But yeah; been talking to Pete about the show off and on as we both watched it, and both concluded watching it about a month ago. it is an amazing show. Although it leaves me with a kind of bad feeling after I watch an episode, starting midway through season 3, as Walt and co. all mess up their lives and become less likable. I was saying to my friends "Remember how likable he used to be in season 1?" Heh. But yeah; the last three episodes to season 4 are amazing. "Face Off" was an interesting choice of name for that last episode. Also, lily of the valley... Whoah. Lookin' forward to season 5. Anyhoo...

To bad they are filming the final season now =[

On a weird note ..did anyone see on the news a couple nights ago that AMC was bought out buy a Chinese company? 2nd biggest Chinese buy-out in the US. I'm sure it wont affect any shows greatly, just didn't see it coming.

    Breaking Bad

For those of you that have watched this series up until its most recent episodes, would you be able to inform me how much drug use or mature themes are involved? I really want to watch this series although I'm sensative to any vivid drug use being shown. I understand what its about im just not sure if it depicts anyone doing drugs or not.

To answer your question, there's a fair amount of drug use, ranging from weed and heroin to crystal meth (duh). Kind of graphic with the heroin, with injections shown and just being a drug addled mess. Some of it was a bit surprising to see, even for cable

    Re: Breaking Bad

Couple of days ago I saw a silent trailer on tv with him in a yellow jumpsuit sittin in a wooden chain and the camera pans out showing him in a room with giant block piles of cash everywhere and the ony text on the sceen read "The King is Back" ... New season starts 7/16(I think what thedate said)

I've only seen up through season 3 sadly, but this lil silent add gave me a good theory to some of the majory events that have happened in 4..
The real saddeness is that this is the last season the are going to film but is going to have way more action than the others! Which I'm interpreting as it's going to have an incredible ending just like all of it finales.. just bigger.

Two episodes into the new season... what's everyone thinking so far?

Personally I'm loving it and I'm loving how big everything has gotten. Little details and such are all slowly coming into play. It's almost like you can feel that when everything comes to light it will be absolutely mindblowing. I also love that they've added some depth to Mike this season.

I'm trying to be as vague as possible here lol

    Re: Breaking Bad

Heh. I loved the last two episodes. Definitely thought the first episode was fast-paced and fun. Some interesting developments too, in that some things have gone ways that I didn't think they would (although maybe it's still early and they'll still go like I think they will.)

Mike is either my favorite or high up there on my list, so I've loved that he's been given more air time. I hope we get more of his back story, and a flashback. Anyhoo...

It's been interesting so far and I've heard some rumours but I'm not too sure though they people who spoiled TWD were right and I'm hoping they are right this time too and would love to see such a thing happen.

The last episode was subtle but interesting, it was done by the director of that Fly episode which is amongst one of the worst in my opinion. Though it will be interesting to see how time goes on as it's suggested that this season takes space in a whole year where as it took 4 seasons to get to his 51st birthday.

I'm kind of in awe of this show. It always manages to captivate me and bring back little things that I had forgotten about. I think my favorite scene from this past week was when Walt had Jesse over at the house and Skyler came back. The tension was so incredibly intense that I was even feeling uncomfortable. Combine that with Jesse trying to make small talk, and his musings on microwave lasagna, and I was laughing like a tard.

It does so many things so well, especially this season. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop and for the shit to hit the fan in a huge way. I love it!

The dinner scene is probably my favorite of the season thus far. So amazingly awkward.

Also, I'm starting to turn on Walt. I've been able to look past his shortcomings and indiscretions in the past because of his circumstances and the fact that he's kind of a bad ass, but not taking the money this week is just stupid and greedy. Even his speech was dumb. $5 million is not $5,000, Walt. $5 million means you never have to worry about anything ever again.

I hope his plan is a good one.

He's starting to become a ****, while Jesse is kind of becoming the heart and brains of everything. I liked him a lot at first, but he's just digging himself deeper and deeper. Personally, I can't see it ending well for him. There are just so many allusions and foreshadowing to some bad things happening.

His little girl is always dressed in a pink bear outfit. There's that pink teddy bear that was always present in the beginning of seasons 2 and 3, destroyed from the plane crash.

Lots of mentioning Jesse James, the bank robber/ bandit. He was killed by his own men, in hopes of getting the reward for his capture.

Scarface is also becoming very present, and we all know how that goes.

Just finished season 4. That part with the guy in the wheelchair in the retirement home had to have been one of the craziest scenes I have ever seen in a TV show before. The show is a lot more entertaining than The Walking Dead. Absolutely love this!

Finally watched last weekend's episode today. Yeah, that dinner scene between Walt, Jesse and Skyler was pretty awesome. I was like "lol, poor Jesse." And yeah, not taking the 5 mil pissed me off too. Not that I've been on Walt's side completely this season, or even last season, but yeah; show's making me pull more and more for Jesse. What is Walt's plan, though? And holy crap, his face at the end...
    SPOILER!!:
That cocky face with a gun to your head. Wow. Also was effed up earlier in the show when Jesse's baffled at Walter cheerfully whistling not long after a kid got murdered by one of their guys. Then of course there was using that power chord to burn through his restraints. I was like "Holy crap, really?!"
I hope that most the main characters who are left make it out alive, but I don't really care about Walter anymore. Anyhoo...

Two more episodes tonight's and next week's until we have to wait another whole season. Shit is going to get cray cray though. Walter's big speech last week about what business he was in was killer.

I've been for a long time in the boat that if Walter lives the series will have ended badly. He has to get whats coming to him...right?

I should really continue where I left, I was two episodes into fourth season than stopped watching it for some strange reason. The show's pretty good, rather intense.
