    The Registration codes.

Okay, another problem here. I bought a new copy of FFXI, and a new hard drive. It all worked up until I tried registering the codes on the square enix account, and lo and behold, Gamestop once again proves how much they care about their customers. So here's what I ask: as an xbox 360 owner living without the tyranny of a PC, could I purchase the PC Version of the game, and use the codes within the manual to validate my purchase of a copy?
And so now it comes to pass
    By the eventide on mass
    See them gather yet alas
They remain still as stained class

For they know only too well
That the story they will tell
    Conjures up an ageless spell
    Guarded by the sentinel

    So it goes forevermore
    Ever steady to the core
That the sign that they came for
    Waves majestic from the floor

Did they forget to put the manual in? All of the registration codes and account information are printed in the manual, not on a separate insert.

In any case, yes, you only need ONE valid version of the game to play across all platforms if you own all discs. I can verify by having done this myself in the wayback machine.

It's not that Gamestop didn't put in the manual, they just gave precisely zero shits as to whether or not the customer could be happy with playing a game with codes that were already used. thanks for the information. TO AMAZON!!!

    Re: The Registration codes.

Also, there's absolutely no reason they should have given you one with codes that were already used unless they (a) forgot to remove the manual from the box if it was the only copy and some prick customer copied the codes, or (b) they took it as a return from a customer who likely complained about X reason and did not move it to field destroy as they are supposed to with all one-time use items.

I would return to the store you purchased it from and explain the situation, and if they get uppity, just politely ask for the number for their district manager. If they give you an 817 number, that's the corporate office - explicitly state you want to speak with their district manager, but only if it comes to that.

Though they may not be able to refund your money (should, but that's manager discretion), you should at least get a credit back for the item you are unable to use.

I don't know for certain but could you just buy a new code off of the FFXI or square-enix site? Since you already have the disc all you really need is a new code, I think you could purchase one while registering online.

Oh well allow me to explain lol. Any Game that is a first party game of Nintendo like Mario, Zelda or Pokemon etc etc comes with a Code paper and that paper has a serial code on it. You go to the Website, register the code and do a quick survey and Bam!! you get coins and with those coins, you can order anything you want from the reward section of the website. Nintendo Ships your reward to you for free and the rewards are pretty good and change from time to time.

3DS games are worth 40 coins
Nintendo Wii games are worth 50 coins
Nintendo DSi games brought from the E-Shop are worth 10 coins

    There you go all explained!!
