One Year Anniversary Event

Square Enix is doing everything they can to celebrate the one year anniversary of their very successful relaunch of FFXIV. For much of the month of August and September there will be a multitude of different events and community related specials planned. There is a 5 part story on the Calamity, the return of the 3 crossover events, the Summer festival, a brand new event called The Rising, messages from the developers throughout the months, artwork and more all planned out to keep everyone busy and excited about A Realm Reborn turning one year old!

Well there is a the free login time that you can play the game without even re-subbing.

Oh crap really? I'll have to check this out, do i just try to sign in as normal or do i need to do anything?

I think you just sign in normally. The free login is from Aug 22nd to Sept 1st. So you get a week to play with the game.

You log in normally, install the millions of updates you missed, then get to try to rush through all the content, and hopefully get somewhere in the week you get to play ^_^. Assuming you still have a FC.

yeah il still be in my FC, they know im getting married next month so cant really afford to pay for a sub that ive not had much chance to use recently and until after the honeymoon. Im actually away next weekend as well, now I remember so il miss a few days of the free play period. woe is me.

I dont sub, I buy time cards from G2a.com. For EU cards $33 for 60 days. I bought a couple of them. Theyre great!

Yeah, we sell time cards here in the States as well; $30 for two months of game time. After currency exchange, yours is only more expensive than ours by a few cents. Much better than some of the crazy pricing Cilla shows me.

I'm far too lazy to get off my arse to go out to the shops and speak to another human to obtain a game card

You can also order them online off Amazon I'm pretty sure. ;p Though I still haven't seen them at the gamestops in my town. So I don't know what is up with that as well.

We sell them digitally. For whatever reason, we don't have the physical point-of-sale cards.

Digitally, digital prepaid cards, that sounds a little strange. Wasn't a fan the last time I got a gift from Gamestop as a digital item. Way too many hoops just to register the game properly. But if it works for some.

Oh, that shit all got streamlined a whole ago. Completely cut out the middleman after making new contracts with Steam, Origin, and Uplay. Codes are directly for appropriate platform now. No hoops!

Well that's good. It was unnecessarily convoluted.

The annoying thing right now is that I've moved and I don't have proper internet connection to my PC or consoles. So I can't really enjoy all of the celebrations and stuff in the game right now. Hoping to resolve my PS4's poor wifi speeds and get on that way otherwise I've got no hope at all playing FFXIV at home until the main issue is resolved.
