Once WoW just finally gets out of my system again. I'm more and likely be taking up FFXI again....and probably a new account as well since my 50k gil on Garuno or whatever it's called might not be there anymore.

No, I don't think you understand what Verified by Visa is. It's an account that you create with Visa for online purchasing that helps to protect your identity and prevent your cards from being used without your permission. Not all online retailers require the service, but the reason MMOs typically do is because of the high risk of fake login sites attempting to get your info. You don't go through your bank to do that; you set the whole thing up on that website.

FFXI is the only MMO I have ever played that required me to use that service.

I didn't say "most MMOs" either, though I know that EVE Online also required me to go through the Verified by Visa process... though since I already had, it was a little simpler.

The Verified by Visa service is ALSO a way to avoid bots and (insertmoneyhere)-sellers on any given game that wants to help control the economy of the game.

I'm not sure of the reputation of Verified by Visa, but the one they use for FFXIV isn't exactly kosher, from what I've heard. God forbid Squeenix use something that is actually accepted in the most countries like I don't know... Paypal? That'd be asking too much.

I'd consider going back to FFXI but I don't want to buy the game again. That is one of the dumbest parts about that game... if you kill the account the serial is useless. What if I get the urge to play again? Squeenix: "Well just buy it again!" Um {Thanks for the offer, but I'll have to pass.}

I've heard from some people Merlin that is you have the original Debit Card and original address you used for that account you should be able to get the account back.

I don't remember verifying a card fro EVE Online either. I was playing it back in 2006/2007.

I figured out how to get my account back... but I have no idea what my password is anymore. I had some custom one for it and since I used my Squeenix ID I long forgot it... Looks like I'd have to buy all those new battle expansions and story expansions as well. Meh. I don't want to spend all that money on FFXI anymore, especially when both LSes I was in dissolved. I might start messing with FFXIV again though. Who knows.
