More Q&A from the Producer of FFXIV

Continuing the long running tradition on answering community questions, the next batch of questions have been answered recently. I'll provide a link to the entire Q&A, but I'll summarize a lot of the key points people will be interested in hearing about.

There were several questions about housing. The housing update will be part of the first major update that they will make to the game after the official launch of A Realm Reborn. He said that housing will be very similar for individuals and free companies. One of the things free companies will do is select if parks or towers are set for personal use or members use. The price is still unknown at this point.

No confirmation on a PS4 version, they are focusing on the PS3 version, but it does not seem that they are ruling it out.

It seems that they feel that Scout and Caster type jobs are missing from the game. So that it is likely going to be the focus future jobs currently, but they acknowledge that many fans ask about Ninja and Samurai. So they might be seen in future updates or expansions.

Players from the original game will be able to re-spec their characters going into A Realm Reborn.

Fall damage will be a percentage of your health, but it will never kill you. Though if you have aggro, it is likely the monster could do so. Also monsters will not be taking fall damage.

Chocobo raising looks to be part of the housing system and will not be available at least until the first update with the housing system. Players will need a stable for their chocobo, but then can raise and train their chocobo as well as breed.

Disciples of Land will be able to discover treasure maps while gathering. The maps will lead them to a specific location will monsters will spawn. When all of the monsters are defeat there will be rewards granted.

Gilgamesh will be making an appearance in the game and have a series of quests related to him.

Players will be able to get some monsters as pets. These pets will be like minions that can go out with the player. Players will also be able to trade minions.

Major updates are planned to come out every two and a half months, while expansions are planned for every two years.
