Thanks guys! I get most of my seals through the GC leves so its good to know that by increasing my rank, i can therefor access higher level GC leves and earn even more GC seals. Are there only 1 GC leve person per capital? Do I always need to accept GC leves from the hawthorn hut location? ( i think thats where it is)

As you progress to higher level areas, you will find more of them. I believe there are a total of three per nation, not counting the ones you can accept right from town itself.

Okay guys, thought I might try my hand at being a disciple of the hand. All up, I am currently a
    -Lvl 37 Dragoon
    -Lvl 15 Murauder
    -Lvl 27 weaver
    -Lvl 15 goldsmith

I have just learned about hiring retainers and I am starting to sell a few things on the marketboard. I found materia is most likely to sell than anything, and I am selling all lvl 1 materia for 1000gil each. Do you have any tips besides shard farming that I could make a lot of gil from? How can I make a lot of gil from a weaver?
I'm also wondering how the hell im going to lvl.50 any other disciple of war class since it seems to me like the main story is the only reason I'm being carried to lvl.50 right now. After that, how do you lvl up DoW? Dont tell me its an endless fate grind...

Don't mess with Leves until you have run out of Quests imo.

Even then just do Fates to level up.

I found Leves helpful for lvl1-3

Making gil in the game is a bit of a complicated answer, since there are a lot of different means to be able to do it. The best thing for now is to just level up to 50 and access the later game content. But crafting and gathering are one of the ways to make money. Doing your dailies and running dungeons are another way, though less fast. Running maps is a good way to make money, but it's a roulette if you get anything good from them. A steady cash flow can come from doing some of the easier to make items in crafting that are used in leves, they go pretty good and if you make HQ they should sell. If you want large volumes of gil, but less regular then you'll need to make out a craft with full materia melding and everything, which is a very expensive thing to do. Got to spend money to make money as they say.

Leveling, do your duty finder roulettes regularly for good exp bonuses. Even at the higher levels it can nearly give you a full level. Also dailies past 40 are good. There are also Stone Vigil and Aurum Vale exp parties. The lower level is normally hunting log, some fates and dungeons. Always do your hunting log though, they are great exp. Also do your challenge logs. They are good exp as well.

That is one thing I am glad about FFXIV was it stayed to it's roots with gil being pretty tough to get compared to other MMOs.

Back again guys. Im a level 46 dragoon now and I'm seeing how long it takes to level to 50 from here. Do you have an tips that would help me get to lvl 50? Because having all drachen armor except the chest plate is really getting on my nerves... I have been doing fate runs with people, but it seems like a very long and tedious way of getting to 50. Someone in the FC im in sugguested doing aurum vale runs and that would be close to 1 level per day? Is this true? Also, first thing I should be doing post game, what is it? A relic reborn quest or something? Crystal tower? Helpppppppppppppp im in too deep and need a hand here.

Yeah when I run Duty Finder Roulette on my Paladin, 47 right now, I get around a full level from any dungeon it drops me in. If you have the challenge log set as well. Then you can get a ton of extra exp just doing dungeons regularly. There is one for completing 3 roulettes and one for completing 5 dungeons both are around 50k exp I think at your level. The commendation also give you 50k I think too. So there's 150k, it's once a week, but it's a good boost. I've been seeing a lot of Aurum Vale first room exp farm parties in PF these days. Which they claim is 50k exp in 5 minutes. So that might be a good thing to do. And at your level if you want to do FATEs, run in Northern Thanalan if you aren't already. And if you can when you see those turn in FATEs. Never turn in until needed. If you have a party you're in and they are doing the same. It is 15 minutes of constantly spawning enemies, i.e. free exp for 15 minutes so long as they don't end it.

When you hit 50 a ton of things open up to you. You're going to feel overwhelmed. First thing you do is finish the 2.0 storyline. It is totally worth it. Then after you do that, you can work on getting your A Relic Reborn started, but you're going to need to get geared up for it a little. Likely if you have a well geared FC, they can just pull you through a lot of it, but don't get attached to your gear. It's obsolete the moment you hit 50. The first thing you need to do is get better gear. Running Crystal Tower is a great start, it drops ilv80 gear, which is a significant jump for you, plus you'll be getting myth. Get enough myth you'll be able to buy myth gear which is ilv90. Your immediately gear goal will be to hit around the ilv90 average. Run a few of the new dungeons that open up and start getting myth to gear yourself out. Then if you can jump into the expert dungeons, they drop il70 gear, which will be a great stop gap for you when Crystal Tower isn't dropping and myth isn't coming fast enough.

The rest is going to be learning all of the Primal fights. They are significantly more challenging then the 4 man fights you've seen as a Hard Mode. So prepare for that. Gearing up is one need you'll have to be able to do those fights. There is a minimum gear threshold you need for survivability. Full il70 will ensure, though you can get away with less, though if the healers aren't on top of things or you're unlucky, which early on happens a lot, you'll probably die a lot. The echo will give you more survivability though, so gear is a little less of an issue these days.

After all that, around the il80 or 90 you can look into doing Binding Coil of Bahamut.

So the challenge logs resets once a week? that makes A LOT of sense now. I was wondering why I was unlocking the same challenges, thought my game glitched out or something. okay, so I will pay more attention to the challenge log. The FC I'm apart of are pretty competent and quite helpful (that is, that they are willing to help me out even though im not end game). I have been running fates in dragonbone camp area, as thats the only place ive discoevered where people actually hang around in groups of 15 - 25 consistently farming. Although it seems to me like I am overlevelled for that area now as the majority of people are in the low 40's.

Also, is it worth summoning my chocobo and levelling that up? I find that if my chocobo is out, I get significantly less EXP than what I would if it wasn't out.

Another thing, I am getting tombstones from the Slyph quests, but only 5 at a time. It seems like a measly amount. Is it really so hard to farm tombstones? Because I went to Revenants Toll and a single people of Wyrm armor costs about 800 tombstones. It must take ages to get that much! I can see why they would make it like that though, otherwise everyone would just have awesome gear... yet that is what it seems like already if you hang around Mor Dhona.

I will finish the main story before I do anymore FATE runs or the like but I might check out northern thanalan and see what the FATE runs are like there.

Yeah your chocobo will take a piece of your exp earn to level him up. So it is best if you want to just wait until you're level 50 or already working on a low level job so you're getting the 50% job exp boost from leveling a lower level job than your max.

The daily beastmen quests won't grant you much and aren't the primary way you earn tomestones. The main way is running level 50 dungeons and raids. The expert ones give 50 myth and I think Crystal Tower gives 100 myth, I think. But Crystal Tower takes a good 45 minutes to complete with no mistakes. So you'll get tomes pretty easily, just not through daily quests. They are there for people still on their first job to have a little extra boost when they hit 50 and might have enough to buy an accessory or something.

If I am level 50, will my chocobo get 100% of the EXP?

So the only way to get Tombstones is Crystal Tower raids and lvl50 Hard mode dungeons? Or can it be any dungeon even low level, so long as I am lvl 50? Cause id love that Wyrm armor, looks amazing!

Sadly no, I don't think the chocobo gets anymore exp, but it just no longer has an impact on your ability to level. Though make sure you do the challenge log for companions if you plan to level your chocobo. That is the only two logs that grant the chocobo exp and not yourself. So make use of them every week.

Well if you're loving the Wyrm armor, the il90 myth gear will look the same just a different color. Also you can just do a glamour with it and you can keep it no matter the gear you need to wear. As for tomes, tomes come from anything that's 50+ content. And if you do Duty Finder Roulette (DFR), the low level ones grant tomes. I don't recall how much it grants. Best thing to think is that if it requires you to be lv50 you'll get tomes from it. The amount you get just varies, Roulette grant more, longer ones grant more and the harder it is the more it grants.

Can you spam roulette for tombstones? Is there any limit to tombstones from doing something like that? Is it possible to make 800 in a single day? And why the limit on soldier tombs? Are they very rare or something?

If you look at the Roulette, when you select one there is a bonus you get. Big bonus you get is only once a day, but you will still get the rest of what they say on there after you've run that specific roulette. I think it is mostly just money at that point though. There are 6 roulettes now I think, Low, High, Expert, Guildheist, Trial and I feel like I'm missing one other. Anyway, if you want the full bonus, you basically run one of each. The amount of tomes they reward do vary, but you should get some from each. You can run them again, but they won't give you the same bonus.

It is totally possible to get 800 in a single day, when I doing myth grinds for my Animus books I would do 1500 myth in a single day easy and 3000 over the course of the weekend/week. But when you hit that point you're just getting the base tomes the dungeon itself rewards. The reason there is a limit on soldiery tomes is because the gear you get from soldiery is the current highest level gear you can get without going into Second Coil. So they don't want you to immediately have the best gear the first week, people would do it. So they cap it so that you have to work towards it over the weeks. I've been getting cap on soldiery every week since 2.2 was released and I just finished getting all of my soldiery gear and il99 average. I still have another whole patch before they release a new tomestone, so I'll be gearing up another job in the next 3 months.

Okay so I finally got to the highest possible rank for my GC, kinda wondering where to go from there or if theres anything worth purchasing when I enivtably max out my GC seals and dont want to waste any. I am also starting to realise that getting to 50 isn't such a big deal and isnt taking me a great deal longer to level as I normally would anyway. I finally did Aurum Vale and that was a PAIN. I can see why its peoples most disliked dungeon. I am now lvl 48 and I am hoping to hit 50 tonight by smashing out a couple of roulettes and going through the story and perhaps seeing it to the end. I have currently just reached Mor Dhona story wise and I think its getting close the end.

Almost onto the post game stuff!

Now heres a few new questions if I may,

Are the beast tribe quests worth my while? Will getting good rep provide anything special in particular?
Is it worth ranking up in other GC since I can not progress any furthar with my current GC?

There are some GC specific items so you want those then yeah you'd need to rank up in them and unlock them. Most of the times are just furniture, bardings and minions. There are some equipment that can't be found with a different color in the GC, but it's not going to break you. When you hit max rank, there is some decent 40-50 gear, but there is also the first easy to get weapon when you hit 50, is the GC weapon which is item level 55. So most grab that if you are just starting and you need max rank for it, which sounds like you have.

Beast tribes should be unlocked at this for the first quest so you have access to the materials they sell. If you ever plan to do any crafting, these vendors from the beastmen can be very help if you don't want to spend the time crafting the items and just want to buy them. Also, if you're a collector type, they all have unique mounts and minions you can't get anywhere else and only unlock at max rank with the beastmen. They are also a good way to get ventures if you don't have the seals to buy ventures.

They also said that there is a separate quest line that will unlock if you have all 5 tribes completed when the Ixal come out in post 2.3.

Currently I am only able to get 5 rep points per mission, which seems really insignificant considering you need 150 to max it out (im assuming??). Maxing out all the beast tribes sounds like a long task...

Yes, it takes about 2 months to max out. Not everything is fast, but if you're consistent about it. It's not so bad, especially since you only spend like 30 minutes a day on it tops. Unless you get the unlucky quests for a FATE.

Yeah, thats one thing that REALLY annoys me, is trying to do missions that require you to interact and being interrupted by aggro/FATE's.

I am currently doing the slyph tribe quests as they were the closest and first available to me. Although I dont really like the Gobbue mount that you get from it once you get the rep, so maybe I should do another tribe instead? Also, I only have low level roulette available to me. Will all the other roulettes unlock once I hit 50?

The way the roulettes work now is you have to clear every dungeon/instance in the roulette once before it unlocks. Then you can roulette them, which I think is to help cases where people were specifically not unlocking certain dungeon (Pharos Sirius) so they didn't have it in their rotation. Also it does give you certainty that the people you've run it has cleared it already.

What tribe quests you do is up to you. They all are the same amount of work, but have different quests you have to do. So if you want to focus one over the others then picking one that you want their items probably is the best way to go about it.

currently level 49, gonna do my roulette today and hopefully turn over to 50 and finally equip my sexy mid rift dragoon armor. Excited! I also joined my first Odin fate last night. Holy crap. Ps4 couldn't even handle what was going on there. At least 200 players all fighting Odin. Got a bronze medal for it so my rewards were poor, but next time ill attempt to get stuck in more for a chance at that odin mantle. I think I am also closing in on the end of the story. I just rescued minfilia and the gang and I have to accept a mission from her in the waking sands. I was hoping to get the magitek armor as a mount after doing that mission where you ride it, but alas, it looks like it will come end game most likely. Would be cool if you could use your magitek armor as a companion fighter like a chocobo, since its sorta self aware.

Anyway, I think I am going to focus on my weaver and getting it to 50 (currently 29). It doesnt seem to take that long to level it up, although material grinding is a pain in the ass. Ive got a load of diremite web though for that sweet sweet velvateen, but im not sure how much longer I'll need to synth that tier of item. Something I was critically lacking was lightning shards, and I had to resort to buying a lot of 300 for 27k, which I do believe is somewhat a bargain.

I have been converting my equipment into materia once it has become obsolete and selling them for very high prices. I think savage might 3 sells for 25k or something, I was surprised at how materia sells like hotcakes! very expensive hotcakes , too!

    Ermmhmm, Question time!

    1. Glamour items are Items that are 'mirrored' onto your currently equipped items to give them the appearance of the mirrored item, correct? Must I own the item I want my gear to look like, must that item always be in my inventory and can I use ANY class/job clothing I want over any gear I want? Example; can I use weaver clothing on my dragoon?

    2. What do you do after you've got iL110 for your main class? Just work on other classes I suppose?

    3. Is there any plans for expansions that would add additional quests, main story, level cap or anything like that soon? Will said expansions be available across all platforms, and will they add more cities and locations to explore?

Yeah materia is a good market to work in because it sells fast and high, the upper tier stuff. Though it does take some time to sprintbond them. Odin is always going to be like that, even on PC it's bad. It's just tons of people participating.

For glamour to much own, but it doesn't need to remain in your inventory after you glamour it to the gear you want. You can put it away in your retainer if you want. And the gear must be something you can equip as your current job. So tank only gear can't be on your Dragoon, but weaver probably should be since it probably says all classes and isn't restricted.

Get to il110 takes a while, so if that happens then yeah you do other things. Running coil for gear is probably likely, since even if you have a il110 job it may not be the "best in slot" gear, since there are a couple of different 110 pieces. If you have bad luck on coil drops, you could be running coil for a long time.

There is an expansion in the works, but nothing is known about it other than it is happening and in development. PS3 they said will be supported up to at least the first expansion, continued support past that is unknown. A new city and region is likely in the expansion, it would be weird if it didn't have it. Level caps are going to be exclusive to expansions they said. However, every major patch will see new questions and new main story quests added. So on July 8 patch 2.3 will bring you new main story quests and a ton of new quests in general. This is how it works for all major patches 2.1 and 2.2. These add significant volumes of content when they do drop. If you haven't looked at my summary of the 2.3 talks from E3 events you probably want to see them. But a short version is new Crystal Tower, new Brutal mode for Coil and Frontlines (new large scale PvP battleground), among a lot of other things like Ramuh primal fight.

So the glamour is only to show gear that you want to show , from your current class. That makes sense, it would be wieird if you see a dragoon in black mage gear. I remember reading about an expansion that was to have just as much - if not more - content than the game itself. Im wondering how this could be possible and when such a major drop would be released? I'm really loving the game at the moment, in case you couldn't tell =P So yeah, no longer am I one of those people who hated on square for releasing P2P online FF titles. Although I do miss the charm of the old school FF games... Although its ncie to see them rework that majesty into FF14 with the job classes and gear etc.

They said that they are planning to getting the first expansion out in two years after the launch of the game, which puts them right now at about 14 months before that rough deadline. You are correct, Yoshida said that the expansion is planned to be the same size of content as the ARR game at launch. Which considering just area-wise how much that was, that'll be a significant volume of new areas and like multiple new cities. And who knows how many new classes/jobs as well. And that's not even counting all of the new stuff we'll get on each major patch update before the expansion hits next year. There's likely at least 3 more major patches after this one in July maybe even more. So lots of stuff coming.

I am a Lvl.50 Dragoon and oh my... She looks so COOL. That armor... looks amazing. So now that Im level 50, the first thing I'm gonna do is finish the main story, and then see if that unlocks the "a relic reborn quest' as it doesn't seem to be unlocked yet.. perhaps there some pre-requisites (beating the main story) that I have to accomplish first. I will consistently do beast tribe quests for the sake of achievments and getting rep up with them to unlock the mounts and the simple fact it doesnt take that long anyway. After that I am going to start doing my low level roulette for tombs.

You may have answered this already, but I could not see. What is the best way to get tombs? I know you can get tombs from low level roulette, but is that limited to once a day? Also, is it to my understanding that there is no limit on tombs of mythology, other than the cap of holding 2000 at any given time? Also, what are tombs of philosophy? How do I get them? Also, should I go for darklight armor or straight for the wyrm armor? Darklight armor seems inferior and costs as much as Wyrm armor which is of a higher Ilvl.

The best way is going to depend on your speed really. Roulettes only give the tomes bonus once a day, then you just get what the dungeon gives. So after the Roulettes the best is to run either Wanderer's Palace or Brayflox's Longstop (Hard). They are both very easy and quick dungeons, but without the item level you won't be able to get into Longstop Hard. Tomes of Philosophy are obsolete and phased out. They are what myth are now and myth are what Soldiery is now. Likely when 2.4 myth will become like philo and sol will become like myth with a new tome taking over for sol. And correct, there is no limit to much myth you can get so long as you aren't hitting your 2000 cap.

Darklight used to be what you'd spend your philo on, so with no philo I don't think you can buy Darklight anymore. It's only dropped in dungeons now, pretty sure. I haven't tried to buy it with myth. But if it can be bought for myth, it's pointless than myth gear is better. You just want to run the expert dungeons if you want to the darklight when you don't have all of your myth gear yet. Or you can run Crystal Tower and get the gear there which is il80 stuff and a good stepping stone before myth.

And yeah, most post 50 content requires the main story up to 2.0 to be completed. Most quests don't unlock until that is completed.

Howdy again. So i just finished the main sceneraio and got my Magitek mount, but is it really the end? There seems to be more quests at the waking sands indicated by a storyline marker (above minfilias head). So do I have to complete this next string of quests to properly complete the main story before I can undertake "a relic reborn" ?

My experience with the game though has been a little mixed. The duty finder can be an abomination for finding certain quests, as without the help of this lovely german fellow and his FC, I would still be queing for the western cape. I shouted out in Gridania if anyone could help, and he invited me to a party he made just for me, I felt so special. My current FC was no help at all, so Im thinking of leaving them after a few more attempts at trying to see if they with help with HM primals/dungeons etc. I was also displeased that everyone in my duty rushed though the dungeon, forcing me to skip cutscenes if I wanted to participate in the battles, which was very annoyying. but now that all is said and done, I suppose I would be thankful to kinda be rushing through some of thsoe dungeons again.

I can get 100 tombs doing the daily low level roulette, but that seems so small, Andro. How in Eorzea did you manage to farm 3000 over a weekend? I think its going to take me a VERY long time to power of my weapon from what I have read. Do you have any practical numbers on drop rates for atma from fates? Because the idea of farming fates for atma and not benefiting from the EXP reward sounds horrible... unless I dont have to use my LVL 50 while im farming fates for atma? Cause then that would be okay as long as I can still level up a lower class while trying to get atma at the same time...

ALSO: Are dungeons cross-world? Because I swear I played a dungeon with "Jaimie Lannister" Who I believe is Fuzz...

In the case of the "A Relic Reborn" you completed what you needed to unlock it. The 2.0 storyline ends with the Prae dungeon run and getting your Magitek. What you're seeing now is the 2.1 storyline and eventually the 2.2 storyline.

Yeah, doing older content, even required for advancement is not easy to pull people together for. But you always find those people that are willing to help out. However, as always I offer coming over to Ultros. We're active and always willing to help out new players to get through content. I know it is a case of different parts of the world and timezones, but it's an option. And it is shame that you had to skip the cutscenes.

One thing that you can do to help your goals of doing something, the Party Finder is very good. Everyone in the server can is it when they look at the PF. So if you need help with doing something you totally can put it up there and with luck find some people willing to help out.

100 tomes is actually pretty decent amount. The way I was getting all of mine is running endless runs of Brayflow's Longstop (Hard) and only doing the first two bosses. The first two bosses are the only ones that give myth, which is 20 and 30, for a total of 50, so after the second boss is killed we quit out and restart. The groups I was doing it in would finish in about 6 minutes. So a few hours later you'd get what you need. It's still a grind, but it's pretty fast. So I've literally run Longstop HM like 200 times as a result.

And there is no certain drop rate that has been found for Atma, best guess is maybe 1%. But I've gotten a drop in one FATE others in a 100 FATEs. So it's not really consistent. And yeah, you have to be lv50 with your Zenith weapon, which is one of the reason why people were not happen about it. Because you were just grinding FATEs for little reward. I just ran with my chocobo and worked on ranking up.

Dungeons are cross server, each data center is a different cluster of servers. So you don't play with everyone on all servers, but just everyone on the same data center as you. There are 5 I think. So it is possible to run across others you know if they're on the same data center. However, unless Fuzz popped on recently. He's been missing from the game for months.

On that note, what is the preffered chocobo path? I put a point into tanking, and I really want the special garb you get once you max out a path, so Im thinking I have to put all into defender now? I cant take it back, can I?

At the moment, no, you can't reset your points. They are planning on putting in a reset in one of the upcoming patches. However, chocobo breeding will negate some of that since it will allow you to exceed Rank 10 and thus eventually get max in all paths. So for now I'd say pick what is the most useful to you. Me I went the healer route with a point in tank and attack so that I could have him do any of the three, though he mostly heals me.
