    Favorite Party?

In the Tactics game you get the option of creating characters with very specific and unique jobs. You also get limited number of characters per battle. Based on those two variables you have to make some very important choices: Who do I take into Battle and Why?

I never really delved too deeply into customization and went into battle with quite a few generic characters. For the most part my party always consisted of Knights, Lancers, a Thief, an Archer and a Wizard. I very rarely ran into trouble, so I've pretty much used this set up in all of the tactics titles.

What did your party mainly consist of?

It depended upon the situation. While many of the story characters were grossly overpowered, I attempted to utilize them as little as possible, but without letting them fall completely by the wayside. Various characters are necessary not only for the story to progress, but you could actually miss entire things in the games if you didn't have certain people at certain zones.

That said, I still tried to recruit characters with optimal star signs, starting Brave and Faith scores based on what class I designed for them to eventually partake, and gender based on stat growth accordingly. Sometimes, I like to min-max to get the most out of my hires!!

As far as party CONSTRUCTION goes... I typically enjoy Ramza as a Dragoon, so toss a knight, archer/gunner, time mage (sub black mage!) and a white mage in... solid build.

I never utilized any of the mages other than black and/or white. None of the other branches of magic ever really appealed to me. I also never paid much attention to Brave or Faith, except for the one time my strongest generic character left me.

Brave is pretty obvious, for it affects the overall damage your melee characters can dish out, but Faith is a little more indirect. High Faith is great for mages, as it increases the effects of all of your magic... but in that same turn, increases the effect of other magic cast on you. Mages with super-high Faith take tons and tons of magic damage, so you want to have various nullifiers through use of equipment and such.

When recruiting new characters, I'd always check to make sure my melee fighters would have as little Faith as possible unless I planned on building them as a hybrid or they'd be a class that had a little magic as well (Dark Knight, for example).

I knew the effect of Brave simply because I was able to see the difference in a character with 80 Brave to a character of similar level and class with only 20 Brave. I had never bothered to look into Faith because I never used it. Also, I didn't/don't have the patience to grind as slowly as FFT allows you, just to get the Dark Knight. I want it, but I don't have that kind of patience.

When I first played Tactics my party was kinda set out like Pokemon, in that every party member was a different Job. It was something like, Ramza (Knight), another Knight, Archer, Thief Black Mage, and White Mage. That file didn't last very long because I found it hard to deal significant damage with only two solid attackers.

The last time I played it just to power through the story, so the party was like 4 Knight/Monks, a Knight/Thief and a White Mage/Alchemist. I just plowed through the monsters and broke/stole the equipment off the humans.

Also the only time that the lack of Bravery would make a significant difference is if I attacked with my female Knight.

    Black Mages are awesome.

    Summoners? LOL DEAD ONE SHOT

White Mage is good you just have to know the situation.

Auto Potion is your main healer in this game

My parties determine the battle, if it's a story battle I use Named characters, if it's a random battle I use my hired goon.

    I'm mostly leveling up characters.

Usually it's a Dragoon, Dark Knight, NinjaMonk, Monk, WhiteMage/Bard
I tend to switch out the monk with Magic user.

Oh I wish a Red Mage job was in this game. :C

Mediator skill that temporarily increases brave also permanently increases it by one each time it was successful.

Incorrect, but close. It raises permanently by one for every four points that are gained temporarily. Effectively, you can "cap" a character's Brave at 97.

Ramza has the only Permanent Braze raise, which I think is only present in the PSP Remake.
