    Serendipity

I was completely underwhelmed by the casino in FF13-2. Only slots and chocobo races? I hope the DLC card games will make up for it but my hopes are low.

Ever since the Suikoden series, no in-game casinos have been fun for me. Some call it cheating, but I love maxing out my money with the dice/cup game in Suikoden I & II.

When you get to serenpity and one NPC says that more areas and games will be open, I thought at first that you had to unlock them but it looks like its all gonna be DLCs unless I still haven't found out how to unlock them.

It sads that the video game industry is coming to this, selling extra boss battles and weapons is one thing but that, its just lame :/

Yeah, was pretty unhappy about that too. At least they could have made the Chocobo race track all trippy like in 7. But instead you get this really standard boring crap.

That NPC lies to you. I looked in the official guide hoping it would prove fears wrong, but yeah...just slots and Chocobos....Chocobo slots.

I was hoping for something a bit more like Final Fantasy VII from Serendipity, but you never know what Square have planned for the DLC, they may have some great ideas in the works and along as they don't charge too much for the DLC I'll deffinatly be buying it.

You know, I also expected that. That's why I didn't like the casino to begin with. I thought it would be as boring and time consuming as in VII. (I really didn't know what was supposed to be fun there. Maybe I missed something.)
I then tried the chocobo races, failed about three times, then tried the slots, failed many times and then I decided to just buy the damn coins to buy the prizes.
I'm just mad that I still need to get all the fragments. :/ And I suppose you need to win a chocobo race to get one. Nah. Sucks. Really.

As for DLC: I was disappointed when I talked to the NPC who explains the slots and card games to you and she told me card games would be available later. I really HOPE that at least the damn card game won't cost anything. That sounded like "We didn't manage to complete the card game until the release, so it'll be there when we finished it." <.<

Anyways, I don't think I'll spend much time there... at least not after getting all the fragments << >>

    Re: Serendipity

There are two new mini-games that will come with the Sazh DLC story. So they are not free, but packaged together so you can play them.

I am a little surprised that they didn't include the paradox mini-games. They were fun to do. But the reason that the Golden Saucer had a lot of stuff was because FFVII had a lot of mini-games. The majority of the games in there were things you had to do in the course of the game.

The fragments in Serendipity are 3 from the store, 1 from the slots machine and 1 from the chocobo chick. Racing does not give you any fragments, but it does give you a lot of rare items that you can only find there.

and if you bet right on the races it can give you enough money to try for the slot machine's fragment and buy the others from the store

theres one in the slot machine...? that thing is getting on my nerves, even when its in a so called great mood, i still win **** all

And as for the chocobo races, I just cant seem to win ANY L'cie races, Ive maxed out my silver chocobo, yet even when the stupid little **** face is in sooper dooer condition, the best i can manage is a close second. Its driving me ****ing insane. So far Ive just farmed gil and bought 2 of the things I need from the casino chip bint

It's doing my ****ing head in

Also, it pissing stinks that we pay full price for what feels like 3/4's of a game

    *shakes fist*

    Re: Serendipity

Maxing out the Silver Chocobo is not going to be enough to reliably win every race. You'll want 800+ for Attack and Magic and then I think it is HP +10% and I think something from a lv 5 Microchu, I think.

The slots you will want to have like 5000-7000 casino coins and just hold down the R1 button for 30 minutes to an hour. You'll get it eventually.

Really disappointed in Serendipity. Just got there, and man, DLC is where it's at, I guess. The Mystic was pretty awesome, got 2 abilities right away.

I'll probably just buy credits and then buy the prizes. Not like gil is hard to come by, LOL

    Re: Serendipity

ive never noticed anything like that when ive gone to infuse my mons.. i guess i should get more levelled up and see how i get on :|

Quite annoyed at myself for releasing a whole bunch because I was sick of scrolling through the list. ARGH

Is it worth levelling my gold one, or should I just stick with my silver and see what I can infuse... do i check what abilities it already has just in the monsters list, or is this something I need to view at the races? I cant seem to get much of anything to show up when im on the race screen

Im such a dumb arse *hmph*

    Re: Serendipity

You won't see Chocobo racing ability when you infuse monsters. They are present when you go to race them. But specific passives on monsters are linked to specific racing abilities.

The Golden Chocobo can be good, but you need to set up passives with him and build him so that you get the right stats.

    Re: Serendipity

is there any way i can view these abilities, im probably missing something really obvious in a menu somewhere but I cant seem to find what passive abilities, if any, my silver chocobo has.

Ive never liked racing of any shape or form in any final fantasy *shakes fist*

    Re: Serendipity

When you are in the Crystarium or in the Monster menu there will be the option to view the passives. I believe if you hit R2 it'll show you in a window the passives. But I think R1 flips through all of the menus, so passives and skills. Your Silver Chocobo has two passives by default if I remember right.

    Re: Serendipity

I FINALLY got that Lucky Coin fragment to drop, that was a few hours of a bobble ramming the R1 key down while i waited, somewhat impatiently for it to finally drop. There was **** all in the way of luck, in just short of 3000 spins, plus whatever id done there previously, I must have had a grand total of 10 jackpots, and 2 of the supier victory mode

In racing news, Ive not raced any since my last post, though I am at still at Serendipity and Ive since infused a level 24 micro ochu so hopefully that should help

I downloaded the Sazh DLC earlier./ Can't say it was worth 2 whole english pounds and 99 pence mind. Though I do like poker... and the 23,000 coins I won went toward getting me that stupid lucky coin

Im never playing that slot machine ever again
