I train all my ppll in ff12, but i have 2 main parties that I use:
1. Power Team
Basch(Leader)
Vaan(support)
Penelo(healer)
2.Fire Team
Balthier(Leader)
Fran(support)
Ashe(healer/black mage)
In my fire team, ihave balthier equipped with flame shot(on any gun) and fran with fiery arrows(on any bow). imake ashe use oil on the enemy, which makes the party's attack do massive damage.
Vaan(Main Character And Is Used More Often)
Basch(Strong)
Ashelia(Bad-Ass Princess That Uses Magicks To Defeat Her Opponents Or Heal Others)
I always have Balthier as a leader. I can't stand Vaan and Balthier is awesome.
I normally have Fran in the party too, along with either Basch or Vaan.
Fran because i liked feeling tall ^o^
Basch he looked pretty tough xD
Ashe because i liked her :3

At first, I tried leveling them all at once. Then I just stuck with Vaan, Fran, and Penelo. Later on, I decided to switch Fran with Basch and found him much better.
Basch- He was my fighter.
Penelo- She was my white mage.
Vaan- He was a combination of the two, mainly helping Penelo with buffs and healings.
The party I use most often is Ashe, Basch, and Balthier. I do occasionally switch out Ashe for Fran or Penelo, and Balthier for Vaan.

I rarely switched out my members, with these 3 main party being in the 60's and my reserve in the low 30's.
I never use Basch or Balthier, but anyways...
Ashe: My party leader. She's equipped with a Claymore at this point, and is my red mage basically.
Fran: Fran should be my archer, but I was stupid and forgot to buy a bow last time a went to town XD. Anyways... I forgot what mace I've equipped her with, but i'm 99.9% it makes a enemy confused. She is also a red mage.
Vaan: Is my main fighter. He also has spells and what not, but he's equipped with some kind of axe XD.

Basch: 99 Excalibur | Can't Remember, haven't played since last month.
Ashe: 99 Raganorok | Bone Mail
Penelo: 96 Zodiac Spear | Maximillian
The crappy equipment is because of A challenge which was to use shitty armour. Yes,
Glacial Staff is my real weapon.
I have all the quickenings for all my characters but my Main Party consisted of these 3.
Ashe - She's amazing, gave her a sword and shield, she is also my Party Leader.
Fran - Another amazing person, gave her a bow, with black and white magic. She's kinda like the Jack of All Trades in my party
Vaan - Was gonna switch him out with Penelo, but by this point in the game, he was too strong and she was too underleveled to switch out so I just kept him around. Gave him a Katana.
Right now its Vaan Balthier and Fran
Vaan has Ragnarock, Balthier with Masamune + (Gengi Gloves) = Massacre, and Fran with Zodiac Spear so all their damage is pretty high and evenly distrubted with fran casting all the magic of course.

I just didn't like any of the male characters in this game.
Like in most Final Fantasies, i like to split my entire party into two teams.
Team number 1 is:
Basch (Team leader). Sword/axe, sheild and white magic
Balthier: Crossbow/ dagger and support technicks
Vaan: Mace, Sheild, my party mage.
Team number 2:
Ashe (Team leader). Pole and white magic
Fran: Bow/spear and all kinds of magic
Panelo: Dagger and support technicks
Vaan and Penelo were frequently a part of one team for me, and more often Balthier and Fran. In fact Balthier and Fran I went out of my way to almost always have them in a team.
Usually I went with (Balthier, Fran, & Bash/Penelo/Vaan), and then mixed that up with (Vaan, Ashe, & Bash/Penelo). I based this on keeping Fran and Ashe as strong mages, and making sure one was in each party, and then splitting Vaan and Balthier apart based on which mage I thought they would team up with better in the story. Penelo was my range weapon specialist, mostly bows, and although I loved Bash, I used him as the bench player for both teams. Bashe was on axes, while the other two guys were on swords.

ashe and basch stay in the team no matter what. they look good fightning together and they are my best people. then i have whoever at the time im leveling up
I always runned a party of the following for the important battles:
Ashe
Fran
Balthier
Ashe and Fran had mainly magical roles, Balthier alternated between a little magic and physical damage.
I have not played this myself personally but my gf has and she changed party members when one of them levelled up just to keep them all about the same level so it depends on what levels her characters were on.
I did the same method, but I liked to keep Basch in my party. He was by far my best person in the game, and he looks cool.Quote:

In my last playthrough I had the party of Vaan, Basch, and Ashe. Gave all 3 of them swords and shields and they were awesome. I might try a new combo for my next playthrough, that's another reason why I like this game.
Being honest; my first play-through of the game was sloppy at best.
After starting again, however, (and getting my hands on the strategy guide. Cha-ching!) I used the party of Vaan, Basch and Fran.
I dunno, I was in a "I always use the main character" phase, so Vaan was in.
Basch is Basch, he wins. No exceptions.
Fran was mostly in for magic support and the like. Vaan was my Tank, I believe... Or it might've been Basch. I forget.
I regularly switched between the teams of Fran, Balthier and Vaan and the team of Ashe, Basch and Penelo.
But I liked the first team better and used them a little more. Don't get me wrong...my top three characters are Balthier, Fran and Ashe, with Basch in fourth, but I liked to have my teams feel even, so I didn't just put all my favorites on one team. Balthier was cool and had a cool look. I loved using Fran as the party leader, just so I can have that nice view while traveling the world. ;) Vaan...well, personality-wise, he was a douche, but I think he still had a decent look. I gave him the katana swords. I gave Fran spears and lances and then I gave Balthier one-handed swords. Not that anybody asked for that, but I just felt like mentioning it. :)
I let Vaan use spears, I think. I really can't remember. Looking back on it, I only wanted Ragnarok and/or Zodiac Spear, for him.
I had Basch use his swords and whatnot. I figured he'd "look good" using them, but he actually the strongest member of my party for a /long/ time.
Fran, I kept her using her bow. So she could stay back and fling healing spells and arrows and such.
Gods, I miss this game.
I mainly used Fran, Ashe and Basch.
I found that these three as a combination had the greatest potential for balance in both Strength and Magic, also in Vitality.

Yeah there is a glitch, you just don't do anything for about 5 minutes or so (except buff/heal) and after a special move, Vayne will start blinking red, and you attack him and he dies.
Well....this glitch is as far as I have read. I haven't actually tried it yet. I prefer an all-out assault :D
