I've always called him Tie-dus. But in Kingdom Hearts, little Wakka calls him Tee-dus. Who knows? Good question, though.

Yes, I have called him Tie-dus the whole time too. That's the way I thought it was pronounced. I read somewhere in an article that it's supposed to be pronounced as 'Tee-dus'. I don't like the sound of Tee-dus so I say it the other way still. It sounds a lot better. I remember playing KH and Wakka calls him 'Tee-dus'. I was very confused about that until I read that article.

I find it silly how they never mention his name in both X and X-2. What's up with that? They say everyone else's name but not his. He's always referred to as 'him'.

I haven't completed the game yet but so far I am really enjoying it. I know a lot of people aren't a big fan of this game at all. The storyline is a little slow but it's still entertaining. The character's are awesome too. It's really not as bad as people say it is! The side quests are entertaining and I enjoy doing most of them. I don't like the idea how there are three different endings though. I would prefer just one. You have to have most of the game completed to be able to view the perfect ending. I don't think I'll be getting the perfect ending lol.

On the Tie-dus vs Tee-dus issue... This is one of the rare games where the names were verbally the same as the Japanese version...
(Whips out Jap/Eng dictionary)
In Japanese the Katakana and Hiragana for Ti would be pronounced as a long e sound, and Te would be short e. They really do not have an I sound like the English language does. So, technically his name would be pronounced Tee-dus, though most English-speaking countries would romanticize (or Romanize) it as Tie-dus.

On the Tee-dus Tie-dus issue: I thought they called him Tee-dus in KH because (spoiler warning)
he technically dies at the end of FFX, so he cant be "Tie-dus" if he's dead, so they change it to Tee-dus. I know that in Japanese "i" makes an "ee" sound im not saying thats wrong, but if you notice in KH2, Selphie says in one scene "Tie-dus and Wakka are all wrapped up in their ballgame and wont go with me." Now, were back to Tie-dus. This is after FFX-2 has been released, and u can get Tidus to come back in that, so he technically isnt dead anymore. So, yeah, I call him Tie-dus but, I dont know.....

when i first saw his name i thought it was pronounced like "Tee-dus"... i think someone said (on arround page 3 i think?? i dunno y i was reading all of this... lol) that you can choose what you named Tidus. i dont rmember this, but i havnt played FFX from the begining in a LONG time so.. yea. if you can pick what you name him, then it makes sense that they just call Tidus "him" through both games. and i thought this whole thing was solved in KH1 when wakka called him "Tee-dus", and then in KH2, selphie called him "Tie-dus". but if you think about this WAY too much (like i am going to do right now...), you realize that selphie is from an older FF game that Tidus wasnt in, and probably doesnt know what his name really is. and wakka is from the same game that Tidus is in. so, for this reason, i think his name is pronounced "Tee-dus". again, i know i thought WAYYYY out of the box here but... yea. sooo, that is my take on the whole "Tee-dus" vs. "Tie-dus" thing.

That makes sense, but Selphie, Wakka and Tidus were all supposed to have known each other for a while. None of them actually lived in their respective worlds or time periods in KH.

It's so unfair, how come Tidus gets an entire resurrection game and all Aeris got was a few stupid hoaxes and a gameshark hack? Come on!!!

And, your right, she is cooler, but I think the whole thing was that Cloud has to learn to move on. If Aeris came back, Cloud wouln't have learned anything.

Anywho, the reason, as stated before, that Tidus wasn't refered to by name, is because you get to name him at the beginning of the game. And, as far as I know, only Square knows how to say "Tidus".

At the first Final Fantasy concert in the U.S., in plain view of the attendees (I, among them) and the Final Fantasy honchos (Uematsu, Amano and Sakaguchi) the event presenter, James Arnold Taylor, who was Tidus' english voice actor, clearly said "Tee-dus".
If that isn't a confirmation on how it's supposed to be pronounced, I don't know what is.

If you want to debate the proper pronounciation of the name (which, by the way, is "Tee-dus," officially from Square), take it to another thread. That has nothing to do with Tidus' existence and how he came back at the end of FFX-2.

I agree with Chocobo Madness, why does every topic has to have something to do with Cloud, the Cloud is scared of his own shadow. Tidus & Yuna are a great couple together and I like how Final Fantasy 10-2 ended by having Tidus & Yuna together again.

I agree'd with most everything you said, but I think you misunderstood the concept of the Fayth dreaming. The Fayth did not wake up to bring the Aeons back, you were however correct in believing they were images from the Farplane from Yuna's memories. They were Manifestations, nothing more. Here is some proof: The Crimson Sphere Cavern (The actual name eludes me at the moment, but I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.)

That aside, how Tidus came back. Bahamut made it clear. They would dream again for her. He is real, he is flesh and blood, their dreams are as real as the Aeons were, they could affect the world, and I believe that makes something real. I don't believe they'd totally sacrifice their rest for her, I think they go on "shifts" so to speak, with however many it takes to dream of JUST him, then some others wake up and continue dreaming while the others sleep.

Another proof he is real is that he totally remembered Yuna, though I guess one could argue the Fayth MADE him remember.

For some reason the theory on Sin bugs me, but I can't argue against it because I don't know any better than you do.

I'm not trying to be mean or nothing, just sharing my thoughts and seeing if you or I can come to a better conclusion because of it.

I'm still very confused. I like Yuna's explanation, but all this doesn't change the fact that Tidus is still not REAL! IF he wasn't real, then how can he get hurt? I was also wondering, if Yu Yevon was always working on summoning the faythe to dream of Zanarkand for him, and he's gone, how can the faythe still dream up Tidus for Yuna? Shouldn't they just be sleeping? Can they do things without summoner help?

Another thing: if Ject was from the faythes' dreams, how can he be the Sin of FFX while Yu Yevon is using him? I don't understand how Yu Yevon could use the dream to help him summon the dream... confused...
