First of all, this is a Final Fantasy game. Everyone dresses odd in a Final Fantasy game.

Then there's his hair.

Again, this is a Final Fantasy game. Hairstyles are somewhat odd as well. But apart from that, what is wrong with a guy having long hair? I have long hair, and can't stand to have it short. Does that make me "fishy" as well. In fact, I want to do my hair like Nooj's one day. Provided Gypsy doesn't send a repo man after it.

Did you not play the game?* I believe it says in it that he was in a battle against Sin. During that battle, his left arm and leg were severed from his body. Hence the limp, and the cane. He was injured while fighting to protect the people of Spira. This may be a game, but Nooj is still a veteran.

No clear Lesbian sightings in the game. Paine could go both ways... the hair kind of gives her that look, but she is definitely inclined towards men in the game. Yuna clearly likes men too. She kisses two of them in FFX, right? And Rikku... well, the Al Bhed are not the most moral people, so she probably gets whatever is there. I could see her making out with a chick every now and then for fun, but marrying a man someday.

And about the hot springs scene... JUST fan service. Nothing more. Although you can always imagine.
