That is correct, though there is FFVII and FFVIII on PC and Steam recently, while X and V don't look a lot like, you might found that instead as well. But FFX is coming out on PS3 and Vita in a few months just you have current generation console/handhelds.
Curious? There's no limits but your own imagination.

The emu was great because some holy man merged the Japanese and English versions together to make an English version with Japanese voice overs.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for optional Japanese voice overs in the HD remake because Mayuko Aoki = best Yuna.
If SE had any sense they would release the PS2-onward FF's on Steam (or just PC in general, download off their main site etc, PSN is good for all the pre-PS2 FF's and very convenient.) ~ but something to think about there Dark One, if you were to hit up eBay you could likely find PS2's pretty cheap these days and FFX even more-so, I find going the legit route in purchasing software to be more satisfying these days. I got FFX when it went to "platinum" and was alot cheaper then its initial release, though I haven't booted it up in quite a while it feels good to have a copy at my disposal when I see fit.
That, and the PS2 runs the game flawlessly on its intended hardware - most emulators tend to lag quite a bit in my experience.
SPOILER!!:
Yeah its a emu but it runs pretty good but then again I have a 1,200 dollar laptop so my operating system is pretty good but the game does still lag from time to time. Prob be easier now days just to buy a ps2 cheap but im in Kuwait on a deployment so not really any other option lol.
Your operating system really has nothing to do with any of that lol.

It's odd though. My computer at the time was built in 2007 and I upgraded RAM, video card and Sound card and I still had lagging issues on my Emulator for FFX and my specs shat on a PS2.

No it's not just FFX, it's the specific settings. I've been using PS1 emulator for all my FF games because all the discs were unreadable now so I burned their ISOs from the discs and used an emulator. I've had frame issues with FF9 and Texture issues with FF8 while FF7 worked 100% fine. I've tweaked so many settings to make it work and sometimes I just turn so many things off to make it look even worst than a PS1.

I just tested the emu of FFX on my PC I just recently built, and its running beautifully with 0 lag. 59fps. (FX-8320 8 Core 3.5ghz/4.0 turbo, ASUS M5A97 mobo, EVGA GeForce GTX 760 superclocked) and FFX is running fine. I'm wondering if its a CPU thing rather than a video card thing.
I tried to run FFX emulated on my old, quad core 2.0 and the opening video/song was running at half speed. Couldn't even get past that.
My current laptop right now can play it no problem, I tried out a FF12 emulator cause I didn't want to hook up my PS2 and it ran flawlessly.

My PC is all but impressive (AMD A4-3400/4GB of RAM/AMD Radeon HD 6850 X2), yet XII runs pretty great while X has some noticeable framerate issues, I'm pretty sure it should be the other way around.

It all depends on those crafty plugins that you use. Emulation requires high end hardware in order to re-create the system, reguardless of whether the original systems specs are actually lower (in most cases, far lower) than your pc specs. This is mostly due to the fact that the emulator coding/plugins are poorly designed. I dont mean to offend the people hard at work with the coding, but this is just how it is. Every year, emulating got better and better (especially with epsxe and psxe2). This is because the programmers became more efficient and aware of what they needed to do in order to run these games smoothly. You will also notice on the EMU's that certain games work better than others. This backs up my statement about poor coding.
Although I must say that I have been able to emulate any ps2 game with the exception of DoC flawlessly.
My PC is not impressive either, but I can play ffx jap without issues (full speed, only a weird bug with bosses showing you their back, easily fixed). I already forgot if emu names can be mentioned, but I'm using P C S X 2. Standard install, no special plugin, jap BIOS
