As far as I know there is not a posible way to get seymore on your team with out hacking the game using something along the lines of a game shark. Some one might come along and proove me wrong but I am doubting it seeing you kill Seymore along the way of the game and square soft doesnt like to res dead characters.

    Completely true!

Either Gameshark code, or he is talking about where you get to play as him for a battle (he was quite useless indeed)

OR he is pulling your chain and deserves to be hit with soggy cheese.

As Excalibur2 had mentioned but to add a bit more, you first need to go to the Requiem Temple and get the "Cloudy Mirror". Then once you acquire it, take the mirror to the Macalania Woods to have it become the "Celestial Mirror".

And in order to get that, you need to do a mini side-quest with some woman looking for her husband. Once you find him, a glowy looking path will reveal itself and walk on that path. Then there's this big crystal thing you'll see once you're in that area. Go up to that thing then it'll become a Celestial Mirror.

Hope that helps and good luck with the game.

Alright ... I want to take some of the developers off the FFX team and smack the crap out of them for making me do something this stupid.

I'm trying for celestial weapons now. As far as the actual weapons go, I have all of them. And I have Auron's, Wakka's, Yuna's, and Rikku's Crest and Sigils. I don't have the Sigils for Kimahri, Lulu, or Tidus. I'm trying to get Tidus's ... and had to take a break, because I like my television too much to throw a controller through it.

Seriously. What the hell were they thinking?

I counted ... there are 24 balloons on the course. 24. And to finish with a time under 00.00.0, you need, say, 15 of them -- without getting hit by any birds. (Strangely, seagulls hate chocobos, and despite their small size, a mere brush of their wing can stop a large, human-carrying bird in its tracks. On the other hand, Tidus is too stupid to reach out and grab a balloon if he's right next to it.) The difficult parts of this are numerous ... first, the chocobo doesn't exactly go where you tell it sometimes. Second, even when you do try to tell it to turn, the steering is simply distorted. Third, if a seagull hits you, another might just wait until you're ready to start moving again before it hits you too -- I've actually seen, a few times, one of them pause in mid-flight, and resume when you do. Fourth, not only do these seagulls, for some strange reason, target you and your chocobo, they also occasionally come out of friggin' nowhere, ensuring that there's no chance at all to avoid being hit. Fifth, the camera angle changes also change your path, so it's nearly impossible to aim at certain targets without re-adjusting -- and, as mentioned, it is qiute possible to miss a balloon by a very small margin, but the birds aiming to stop you are three times as wide as your giant man-carrying chocobo is. And last, but certainly not least, you have competition. Another rider is pushing you out of the way to get their balloons as well, which, for some strange reason, always are on their side of the beginning of the course.

And honestly, I can barely dodge ONE lightning bolt on the Tunder Plains. I think my max is two in a row. And I'm supposed to get two hundred? In a row?

So the question is ... is there anything I can do (other than just keep doing it, over and over and over and over and over again) that will make this a little easier? Train a chocobo better? Anything? For the lightning or the chocobo race? I wouldn't think the butterfly thing could be THIS difficult.

For the lightning dodger, there's a really easy to pull off glitch you can do:

YouTube - Final Fantasy X: Lightning Dodge

Mind, it's a little cheap, but I had the same problems, and laughed after doing this.

As for the Chocobo trainer, I just have some tips:

    - If you don't get all 4 balloons in the opening stretch, just quit, and let the game play itself. It's insanely difficult to succeed without this 12 second head start, and you just end up getting more frustrated. Take the next 45 seconds off, and try again.

    - Focus on dodging birds. They're the real problem here. Make sure you're secure on your dodging skills, then work on getting balloons.

    - The D-pad is your friend. It's much more responsive when it comes to turning and evading.

    - Stay towards the center of the track, only moving to evade. Two reasons: One, grinding on the sides slows you down. Two, the chocobo tends to make some weird turns when it hits the edge of the race track, meaning you could be heading towards a balloon, but if you hit the edge, you could turn the opposite way.

    - Stay away from the trainer. She tends to steal balloons, and if you follow her a little too closely, you can get hit with her birds.

Other than that, patience and practice. Also alcohol can help.
Let's go into the "archives" in "Washington D.C." and find out how people "masturbated" in the "roaring 20's."

Thanks! That helps a lot. I still only got to 161 before I got hit (and when I started again, to 92), but I'll try again tomorrow.

    A few things.

-On the first page of this thread Palazzo posted where to find celestial weapons, and that's all good. But where are these 'celestial mirrors' and things we need to obtain the weapons?

-Where can I get some Level Four key spheres?

-On the airship, there's the option to put in passcodes in to access other areas. Now.. I'm absolutely dumb as shit when it comes to riddles, so could anybody give me a couple? Also, one that does confuse me quite a lot is "Right Sixteen, Right Four" in the Calm Lands. Halp?

I've been on this site since 2006 woah

You'll need to turn the Cloudy Mirror into the Celestial Mirror. To get the Cloudy Mirror, you'll need to do a little chocobo race (don't worry, nothing anywhere near as difficult as the Sun Sigil thing) -- in Requiem Temple. To get there, take a chocobo in the Calm Lands, and go near the exit to the South. You know how there's an elevated part there, you have to go around to the West to get up the hill? If you keep going East -- like if you just came up from the entrance there and made an immediate right -- you'll get to the edge, and see a chocobo feather on the ground. Examine it (while still on the chocobo) and you'll jump to a different area. Keep going, and you'll hit the temple. There are two very important things there. One is a little chocobo race, and when you win, you'll get the Cloudy Mirror. The other ... remember what's-her-face, the summoner that challenges Yuna? She's there, too. Inside. And you can challenge her, and when you beat each of her Aeons, she'll give you stuff -- the most important thing being when you beat Bahamut, because she gives you one of the two items required to get the Magus Sisters (the other of which is given to you by the guy that runs the Monster Arena -- and you can use 'em right inside the temple, there).

In Macalania Woods, there is a man, a woman, and a child that are looking for each other. The woman and child are waiting for the father, and when you find him and tell him to get his ass back to his family, the child will have run off. When you find the kid, he'll tell you to remember where he is, because it's important. And it IS important -- that's where you go to change the Cloudy Mirror into the Celestial Mirror. That's also where you'll go to add abilities to your celestial weapons -- as long as you have the weapon and the respective Crest (and, if you'd like, the Sigil too -- but at least the Crest for it). Just walk up to it, and it'll prompt you to do what you need to. It's pretty simple, once you find everything.

-Where can I get some Level Four key spheres?
From my (semi-limited) experience, you kind of accrue them on the way ... but from a quick search, it looks like Land Worm drops 'em.

-On the airship, there's the option to put in passcodes in to access other areas. Now.. I'm absolutely dumb as shit when it comes to riddles, so could anybody give me a couple?
Are you talking about coordinates, or codes?

    Coordinates (copied from IGN):

Baaj Temple -- X:14 Y:60 (find Lulu's Onion Knight and Anima here)
    Sanubia Desert: X:15 Y:41 (find Tidus's Ascalon)
Omega Ruins: X:74 Y:36 (battle Ultima Weapon, steal items, and find spheres)
Besaid Falls: X:31 Y:73 (find Kihmari's Dragoon Lance)
    Mi-I'hen Ruins: X:34 Y:58 (find Rikku's Sonar here)
Battle Site: X:42 Y:57 (find Lulu's Phantom Bangle here)

Most of these are just small areas. Baaj Temple is where you started, prettymuch -- remember the giant fish thing that chased Tidus, until he ended up inside and built a fire? That's where it takes you. (Very important, since Anima is friggin' awesome.) And Omega Ruins is a good place to "level", with a lot of tough monsters ... unless you just want to go through with No Encounters on armor equipped, and you won't have to fight much.

    Codes:

    GODHAND (Rikku's Celestial Weapon)
    MURASAME (Weapon for Auron)
    VICTORIOUS (Armor for Rikku)

It'll just add a new site to the list (and it'll have "NEW!" beside it, so you'll know which ones you added), and you'll be able to go there. Keep in mind that you'll need the Celestial Mirror to open the chests that contain Celestial Weapons, like Rikku's Godhand and Lulu's Onion Knight.

Also, one that does confuse me quite a lot is "Right Sixteen, Right Four" in the Calm Lands. Halp?
That ... I don't know if I've heard. Where exactly is that?

EDIT: After another quick search, apparently, the "right sixteen, right four" thing in the Calm Lands is directions. Directions and step numbers. When you go through 'em, you'll find one of the passwords to input into the airship guidance -- one of the three I gave before.

I was going to post a lengthy post about all of this, but Sasquatch pretty much nailed it on the head. I just have a couple things to add about this.

    - The Omega Ruins. Fight there for a while. You'll stock up on level 3 and 4 key spheres, and a bunch of sweet weapons that you can sell for lots of gil. If you're not at the point where you can comfortably fight there for a while, then go to the Hidden fayth and fight one of the ghosts for a No Encounters armor. Stick by the save point, get into a fight, then equip the No Encounters armor so you can go save. Lather, rinse, repeat. (Just a side note: First Strike is necessary on at least Tidus, and provoke can counter Great Malboro's Bad Breath, and is your only real defense against it.)

    - They can also be obtained by bribing Chimera Brains. It's about 200,000 gil for 2 spheres.

So, i've just finished my 5th playthrough of Final Fantasy X, and i'm trying to 100% it, the last playthrough I did was almost 3 years ago, so i've forgotten a few things, so..

Which items do I need to add the "Break Damage Limit", "Break MP Limit", and "Break HP Limit"? And where can I find them?

I think I'm beginning to understand. An answer from the Planet, the Promised Land...I think I can meet her...there.

Break Damage limit- 60 dark matters. Most easily obtained by just fighting created monsters in the monster arena, as they all have rare drops of dark matters.

Break HP Limit- 30 Wings to Discovery. Obtained most easily by bribing Marlboro's. 540,000 gil for 4 of them.

Break MP Limit- 30 Three Stars. One of the first prizes obtained from monster catching, 60 of them (I believe) for completing 3 areas. Also obtained from bribing Behemoth Kings, 14 of them for 1.4 million gil.

Alright ... haven't played for a little while, but for some reason, decided to come in here and ask.

    What's up with money?

Everybody talks about bribing enemies for items and paying Yojimbo, but I always seem to be running slightly low. I mean sure, I have enough to do quite a few things, but not multiple times.

Are there "easy" ways to get money? Or do you prettymuch just have to fight for it?

Umm I havev't played in a while either so sorry if I mess up the figures.

But the best way to earn gil is in the omega dungeon. When you encounter a lizard thingo (forgot the name) and a treasure chest, if you steal from the treasure chest and nothing happens, once you kill the lizard you will earn 50k gil from the battle.

If you have Rikku's celestial weapon, or any weapon with gilionaire on it, you will get triple that amount I think, if they are in the party.

Do that for a couple of hours and you can accumilate a ton of gil.

The problem with Omega Dungeon is that the Marlboros and Demonliths that use status attacks all of the time. Damn, they're annoying.

That's why you use Aurons Celestial weapon and teach him flee. Even if you're ambushed, Auron has 1st strike and can run away if you want.

The easy way to deal with Great Marlboros is to have First Strike on Tidus, then have him use Provoke. This prevents it from ever using Bad Breath, and instead use either his spit against Tidus or a weaker version against the whole group. Just a note here: With this strategy, you cannot rotate Tidus out of battle. If you do, the effects of provoke wears off, and Bad Breath ensues. The key is: First Strike, Provoke, hastega, beat him down with spells or attacks.

Demonoliths are a different story. For the most part, I just recommend at low levels just having aeons take care of them, as they are immune to every status effect besides curse. It's possible to get armor in the Omega Ruins to help you deal with their counterattacks, which I believe inflict darkness, poison, and silence. Once you get stronger, you can develop actual player strategies for Demonoliths.

Hang on, is Penance and the Dark Aeons only in the International Version? Does that mean you North Americans can't fight them? Because I remember reading in here somewhere that someone was looking for the Dark Aeons (cbf quoting atm), and then someone else told them that they were easy, and referred to the one you fight as a part of destroying Yu Yevon... those aren't Dark Aeons!!!

Dark Aeons are fantasmical creatures who want to drive me insane!!

    That is all.

The Magus Sisters are located at Remiem Temple. To get there you have to get a Chocobo in the Calm Lands and then look for a yellow feather on the ground east of where you entered from Macalania Forest. Then in order to get Magus Sisters, you have to capture one of each monster at Mt. Gagazet for the Monster Arena to get the Blossom Crown and defeat Bahamut in the temple to get the Flower Septer. You may also need to get Yojimbo and Anima first. Capturing the monsters will probably take the most time. Anyway I hope this helped.

I've got a question, I don't know if it's been asked yet (really haven't got time to read through 10 pages), so if it has, and someone knows it, just feel free to re-post it

The issue is, I started a new game, using the Expert Sphere Grid, with the aim of beating Penance (and thus all Dark Aeons) and Nemesis (and thus all Original Fiends). I've just beat Dark Valefor and Dark Ifrit (and got two armours with Break HP, Ribbon and two empty slots ), but only just heard that the Expert Grid has around 50 fewer slots than the Standard Grid. Putting this into statisitical perpective; that's equivalent to 50 X 300 = 15,000 HP.

So my question is: is it possible to beat Penance/Nemesis/everything hard with the Expert Grid?. If you answer this, can you also VM me to let me know. Thanks in advance!

Jecht can be tricky. I suggest first and foremost protecting yourself against petrification before going into battle. Jecht has a powerful attack called the Jecht Beam, which petrifies a character. I believe 40 or 50 softs will allow you stone ward, whereas 20 Petrify Grenades gives you Stoneproof. I obviously recommend the latter. Nothing else comes to mind immediately in terms of battle preparations, just have your characters overdrives ready, and maybe make sure someone has Zombie Attack.

As the battle starts, set up your main characters with haste and protect. Haste gives you a speed advantage, and protect does wonders as I think almost all of his attacks are physically based. Your next action should be to deal with the Yu-Pagodas. The Yu-Pagodas, if not dealt with, will spend their turns in battle healing Jecht and charging his overdrive gauge. This can be done a couple of ways. The first is to double cast flare or ultima on them, which will disable them for a short period of time. The second is to zombifie Jecht with Zombie Attack. This way, every time they try to heal him, they will be hurting him. The second is honestly the easier way, but I find a lot of newer players skip Zombie Attack when taking Auron through his grid.

Other than that, watch your HP, save your characters' and Aeons' overdrives, and don't waste Tidus' Talk action command during the first fight.

    Good luck.

I recommend you read this: GameFAQs: Final Fantasy X (PS2) Stat Maxing Guide by KADFC

I'm American, and thus illiterate in the realms of the expert sphere grid. From what I'm reading here, though, it looks like if you're insane enough, you can manipulate the grid with enough clear spheres so that you can have Max stats and HP/MP. It looks like you have to abuse clear spheres to the point where you place a stat sphere, have everyone use the node, then erase it, and replace it with an HP/MP sphere.

Well, that's just damned evil, isn't it?

What would be a good leveling spot for my characters from where i'm at? I'm currently at the inn of the Thunder Plains and I really want to gain alot of sphere levels quickly so I can strengthen my characters more.

If you want to gain some levels quickly, I recommend activating the three Qactuar stones on the thunder plains. Activate one stone, and you can run into random encounters with one Qactuar, activate two for battles with two, and three for three. Of course these are random encounters, so you can't guarantee getting a lot of battles. Each one is worth 350 AP without an overkill (525 with an overkill).

At lower levels, you may have to rely on aeons to finish the job on them, since they have high magic defense and evasion. One strategy is to use Provoke with Tidus, and have Wakka beam them with his ball. He should have a high enough accuracy to be able to hit them. Keep in mind that you can also steal chocobo feathers from them, a very useful item.

    Good luck.

Yep, Lulu has a special Weapon. But you have to do lots to get it. I recommend you to read a walkthrough about ultimate weapons in FFX.
The only thing I know now is that you have to dodge the lightning on the Thunder Plains 200 times. So.. haha, have fun, I never tried it, actually, it's really really hard!
(Btw. the weapon is called Onion Knight ^^)
