Whatever shows the most skin. So I never use mascot dresspheres. I like using lady luck, thief and dark knight.
I finally rented this game from the video store after months of umming and arring . I'm up to the Zanarkand Ruins and i've decided it's time to share out my six current dressperes between Yuna, Rikku and Paine. Yuna has the Black and White Mage, Rikku has Thief and Songstress and Paine has Gunner and Warrior. I think that making Yuna a mage-type charcater suits her being a white mage/summoner from X. Rikku being a thief is a no brainer and she kind of suits being a dancer and the Gunner and Warrior class suit Paine's gothic-ness.
Does anyone else assign specific jobs to each character or do you do it a different way? I understand that there's going to be a few more jobs to come but for now I think it's a good idea to make sure they all get used evenly. Thoughts, opinions, ideas?

Assigning specific Dresspheres to the girls is your own choice, because stat-wise there is no difference who gets what Dressphere. They would all have the same HP, MP, Strength, Magic, etc. no matter who has it.
In the beginning of the game, I always let Rikku learn the Thief abilities and Paine the Warrior abilities. Why? Because Rikku usually learns Pilfer Gil and Paine Sentinel (or is it Guard?- too early in the morning) before they get to the first fight with Logos and Ormi.
After they learn those, I then choose what fits the character. Yuna goes from Gunner to Gun Mage to Alchemist (all Gun classes), Rikku- Thief, Lady Luck, Trainer, and Paine- Warrior, Samurai, Dark Knight (all sword classes)
But eventually they will end up learning them all.

I usually just kept them all the same. That way when one masters a job, I can switch them all at the same time (Generally). It also kills monsters quicker that way. I've always been focused on strength building rather then magic. If there was something else I wanted to level up that was magic based, I made sure the other two had stronger dresspheres. It didn't matter which ones were which though. It was mainly for leveling up purposes. It probably wasn't the greatest strategy, but I was more focused on finishing the game and getting 100% so I could see all of the endings.
Now that I think about it, I wish I could find the game so I can tackle the Via Infinito again. Thanks for the thread

Check it out. The Fall of Spira is finished!
I let them all have the same dresspheres, there was something very satisfying in the early hours of the game by having three black mages burning everything in sight XD, They all had the same grid too since i was too lazy to do individual grids for them all.
I'm glad to hear it XD. It's nice to see that one of my threads actually did some good
I've been reading what all you guys were saying and it's going to be helpful in the long run but i've been starting to notice a few errors with my setup. If Yuna is a White Mage, Rikku is a Songstress and Paine is a Warrior, it only leaves me with one character who's able to deal damage, which isn't too helpful when i'm surrounded by three or four enemies. I guess I haven't got my head around the fact that you can switch dressperes in the middle of battle yet, i'm more used to one character having a single set of abilities. I'm still in the early stages of the game though and i've yet to get over the fact that all the music is somehow disco themed so over time it shouldn't be such a problem.
On a side note i'm actaully glad that I picked this game up. It's not as bad as some people have been saying, it's not a perfect game but it's not a terrible one either.

Last time i played through the game, i kept Yuna, Rikku and Paine's default dresspheres equipped on them for the first few parts of the game (namely Luca, Mt. Gagazet Summit and Besaid Island, switching in Songstress when and if needed.
I wasn't too picky with which dresspheres each girl wore - i was more preoccupied with trying to master as many abilities as i could. xD

To go from Recluse's comment; the more abilities you learn, the better equipped you are in the future. I don't want to spoil anything so...
Spoiler: There are some Garment Grids that let you use Learned Abilities as any Dressphere. EXAMPLE: You are using the Lady Luck Dressphere but the Garment Grid lets you also use learned Warrior Abilities.
You should also take that into consideration.

Everyone always ended up learning everything on all the dress spheres, so it didn't much matter. But it seemed like Yuna always did Gunner and Warrior first, Rikku did Thief first, and Paine did Warrior and Dark Knight first.
