I got it as soon as I got to her and got the chance to challenge her. Remember it like it was yesterday. I was playing and resetting for hours. At one point, she was covering all my cards and I had no more spaces where to put them on but on one last space in the bottom right corner. When I did that, all the cards around filled as if a shockwave ripped through them and became mine... The card wasn't even great at all. That was so damn epic and unexpected. Then I got Edea's card and went insane. The rest of the future card games became much more easier, with Edea's card in my possession. Anyone else managed to get her card early on? It is possible, just requires an awesome amount of luck and patience.

Yes, I got it early on as well. It took a lot of resetting and deleting cards that weren't really important at the time. Hers and Rinoa's were my favourite cards. Mind you, that was on my fifth play through and I knew what I was doing at that time. My first play through I didn't even bother with the cards.

I didnt bother because I didnt want the random rule. All cards that have been missed or used up can be won back at the ragnorok in disc 4. Edea was the first card I got after versing Xu. I dislike the random rule

Basically the card challenge is like a whole new separate game. Abolishing and setting rules in regions. Good times. Made FFVIII so much more memorable.
I got her card first chance I got. The random rule is only a pain in the ass if you don't get rid of all your low level cards. I mod all mine into items and play with the GF and Character cards only. So much easier that way!

It does help to get rid of low level cards, but only by so much. A lot of cards require more than 1 to mod, this way you are left with a bunch of mediocore cards that are preferably ones you wouldnt want to use late game.
the random rule isnt the problem, its that ****ing plus rule that gets me, i never have an issue in getting any cards whenever until that rule pops up.
Nothing infuriates me more than getting Lagunas card. Ive got really lucky and had it on the first or second try sometimes, other times ive been there hours. I'd say Edas card was a close second for being irritating actually...
Do you know that you can abolish and set new rules in regions, by resetting, talking, saving and resetting until you get a favorable rule? I haven't played FFVIII in a very long time, but I'm sure people can tell you how to properly do it. Unless Laguna's card is in one of those places where rules can't be set. I don't think I had much problems getting his card though.
