save the queen?

In ff9 when you defeat the optional boss monster hades in memoria he becomes a unique synthesis shop. One of the itams he can synthesize is a sword called save the queen. Now the only person who can use this weapon is beatrix. However at this point in the game you cannot control beatrix so what is the point of this weapon being able to be synthed when she can't use it.

It allows for a change in the ending.

Having Save the Queen in your inventory adds an extra scene to the Ending of the game. Nothing changes, they just show more of it.

There's only a little more dialogue during the last "I Want to be your Canary" play.
Both "Save the Queen" and the "Hammer" allow for the "extra" ending.

What they said. Plus I think you can throw it with Amarant, if I recall correctly, should you wish to. But why would you.

Yeah Amarant can throw it. I think it might cast a spell or something when he does, though that might be in a different game...

I was SO disappointed when I found out Steiner couldn't use it. It's my favourite FF weapon.
