Garnet...? (definite spoiler)

So I played through IX again this past couple of weeks,
and I was amazed to find out that Dagger isn't the original Princess Garnet
when Eiko bumps into Tot in Alexandria and he says that the original Garnet died and they found a girl who looked exactly like her in a boat but she had a summoners horn so the king ordered it be cut off!

I was like OMG!! lol never realised that before!!

Dr. Tot was pretty much direct on that matter so if you played the game more than once you should have known that by now, guess someone didn't payed to much attention.

I considered it a pretty important part of Garnet's history, if it weren't for that scene I for once would ask myself what happened with Garnet's summoner horn.

I know, I always known that she was found on a boat and that she used to have the horn and stuff I just never realised there was another Princess Garnet before Dagger

Well it isn't much of a suprise because the games opening is sort of a hint. And the fact that she has special powers when nobody outside of Madain Sari can summon. There was a point in the game when Beatrix says that she will still be loyal to Princess Garnet even though she isn't the true blood-heir to the throne. And Tot made it pretty clear that she wasn't the real Princess Garnet.

Hearing Dr. Tot say that to Eiko really completed the Garnet story line for me, I had wondered what happened to Garnet's horn after all that took place at Madain Sari and Square thankfully put question to rest almost immediately, although be it at the expense of another Garnet. I don't see how Brahne could produce a daugther that looked like Garnet though lol must have gotten all her looks from her father ha

I just want to know how somebody like Queen Brahne's have a child that look just like Garnet. Her husband must have been either divinely beautiful to counter-act Brahne's ugly or a magician because he pitied the child that would be as hideous as its mother. But it brings up a disturbing question: who would want to mate with Brahne? I guess the answer lies in that men have different tastes and Queen Brahne was one man's sex-ay lady.

That isn't the answer. In the game, they say that Dagger looked like the original Princess Garnet, so back to Zarga's point, how would a girl who looked like Dagger be the daughter of Brahne...

For all we know, the king could've been whatever Brahne was as well. Besides, only nobles are humans in Alexandria, and everything else is... well, a lot of different things. I'll just go with the adoption bit, and Garnet was pretty young, so maybe she bought it.

That, or someone cast a spell on her and made her think Brahne was her mother.

Then again, we may never know. =/

Yeah im pretty sure Dagger did not look like the original princess Garnet, you might be taking it too literally.
The one who said she looked like she was the original one was maybe not meaning it by looks, maybe just that she had the same royal attitude or something like that. Saying it so she would be confident in her place.

^ I seem to recall that in the game, it's stated that when they found Sarah (the princess Garnet/Dagger that we know), she looked identical to the real Princess Garnet that had recently died...except she had a horn. So the king ordered to have it removed. She then became the "replacement Garnet", which is really sad if you think about it... I mean, their daughter had just died, and then they replace her with a look-alike.

Wow it's funny how many times i've played through this game without getting that information haha ^^

Lol, I know.. I've played through it a few times, although this was the first time in ages I played through..

I just always assumed they just adopted her because they found her with her mum dead so I was still abit like when I read it properly

at least I'm not the only person that missed that bit of information lol

No....Garnet's real mother tried to get her away from the attack on Madain Sari. She died while trying, the boat washed ashore at Alexandria and her mother was dead.
