Final Fantasy IX Coming to PC and Phone

Square Enix has announced today that they will be porting Final Fantasy IX to the PC and Phone, making it the last of the three PSone mainline Final Fantasy to have never been ported to any other platform. The port will come with similar cheats that the FFVII version did such as no encounter, speed up time, gil cheats, auto-save and achievements.

The version shown was the Japanese version with no confirmation of an English release, but it is likely to be coming.

I, for one, am very happy about this. FF 7 and 8 have both seen a re-release plenty of times, however, 9 only had like 1 port to the psone classics. It's nice to see this hit other platforms to make it available to a broader audience officially.

I really don't like Zidane or Kuja's character designs in that game, but most of the game is great! I love Vivi (like most) and Steiner, and some songs are amazing; Garnet is a strong female character too! I look forward to replaying FF9 for the good.

Proven fact this is the best FF game, just gets a Re-Master, not a Remake to redeem obvious flaws.

I hope it's a mere PS1 port as in my opinion this game has aged beautifully, certainly better if nothing else than the other ones on PS1. Hopefully this means FFX and FFXII ports aren't far behind, remaster versions preferably.

I wouldn't exactly call it a re-master loaf, its closer to a port. They I think made the FMVs cleaner and that's about it visually to the game. There are some cheats and achievements.

Xanatos FFX has already been Remasterd and ported.

No, it's ported and remastered for PS3 and PS4. It's possible that FFX could come to PC, though I wouldn't say it is very soon. FFXII won't happen until it gets a Remaster I would assume.

FF IX seems to get forgotten and lost among all the other games which is a shame because it really was such a fantastic game. I'm happy to hear it is getting ported to PC and if they did remaster if for PS4 I would be one of the first persons in line for it.

I guess that would be true for most remasters though seeing as I bought the X/X-2 remaster.

Update: FF IX is now available to add to Wish Lists! Also more pictures to see on the store page! The character graphics look good and the backgrounds look as good as the original resolutions can. Vivi looked amazing! Early 2016!
