Also with getting limit breaks, you can use an Aura if you've got any. These are pretty good to junction with, so you may need to run around the Islands closest to Heaven and Hell with Enc None on to restock later. But it's worth it for an almost guaranteed limit break. ^^

If you can be bothered with it [or play on PSX], you can also use Selphie's Rapture or The End which can be found under her Slot limit break. If time's a problem and you use the PSX, just pop open the disc cover while you search for it. That way you don't cop any damage.

I've never actually tried Doomtrain, I guess the reason being that after I got everyone's ultimate weapon. I just used the GFs for the abilities and junctions. Aura + Island = win. Though Doomtrain + Aura + Islands = epic win. What with his "Bwahaha-I-killz-your-enemy's-defence" and all. =D

Also if I'm trying to get AP I would go to the Cactuar Island. That is probably the best place because the cactuars there are pretty easy to defeat and you get 10 AP for each one you defeat

Small correction! You get 20 AP for each one you defeat.

If you want to train before you get the Ragnorok, you can go just about anywhere. There isn't really a place that jumps to my mind that would be much better than any other place.

There is a place in Timber ( Not the city of course hahaha! ) where you can fight Vysage, I don't know exactly where but after defeating all three parts (including Lefty and Righty), you get 12 AP and more than 650 EXP..such a great place to train in Disk 1 and Disk 2.
Also, Vysage drops some useful items such as Life Stones, Regen Rings, Lightweights, Rune Armlets and Wizard Stones.

Bring along Quistis in yellow HP with her Degenerator attack, or just take Doomtrain with someone with a high compatibility. My caompatibility was 1000 with Zell after going through the Deep Sea Research Facility, so that worked out well. Both ways are very good and reliable, but Doomtrain is safer, as it doesn't require you to have a/some character(s) in yellow HP.

Good idea, I have always enjoyed defeating my enemies using Degenerator.
Doomtrain, It is not recommended to use this GF against Melboro, Hexadragon and Ruby Dragon, however, It is very effective against Grendel, T-Rexaurs and Blue Dragon.

For more, Odin was my hero, This GF is great, Nothing can stand against him. he will randomly appear and defeat all of your enemies.

Hey all, I'm having issues defeating Adel whilst she has Rinoa captive and i saved beforehand- I am also finding the monsters in the area are giving me next to no EXP and I cant leave as I saved before the third disk...will I have to restart the game?

Here you really don't need to level up. Remember that in Final Fantasy VIII when you level up, the enemies get stronger also. What you should be more worried about is what you have junctioned to your characters. This will make the biggest difference. For the battle I would first cast Regen on Rinoa so that you don't have to waste as many turns healing her. Next I would cast meltdown on Adel to weaken her defense. Then just attack her. You can really do much else because all of your powerful attacks will hurt Rinoa too. You can use some limit breaks though. Just make sure that they don't hit Rinoa too. So just switch it up between attacking and healing when necessary. Finally make sure you keep Rinoa healed because if she dies you will have to start the whole battle over. That should do the trick. Just remember to junction your characters well. If you are going to attack Adel, make sure you put something good to your strength stat.

Exactly, Don't forget to cast Protect on her too, What about Shell? No, Don't cast Shell on her because it will lessen the effect of Regen.

Don't forget to start the battle by Mugging Samantha Soul for Adel, This item can be refined into 60 Pulse Ammos.

Now, If you really want to use some limit breaks then use Irvine's limit breaks, AP Ammo, Pulse Ammo and Demolition Ammo are your friends in this battle, however, I only recommend using AP Ammo because it has the ability to pierce your enemy's armor, very effective against high-VIT monsters are bosses. In the other hand, avoid using Fire Ammo and Shotgun Ammo because they will hurt Rinoa too.

Focus on junctions. Here's what I use for bosses like these.

HP- Curaga or Full Life
Str- I normally have a good number of Flares or Ultima by now. If not use Firaga, Blizzaga or Thundaga
Vit- Regen
Speed- Haste

All of these get nearest to 100 spells for each. For the other attributes junction anything.

BTW when fighting adel, never use GFs (apart from Cerberus), or most limit breaks (actually, the only limit I would use is a few of Quistis's).

Does somebody mine telling why I can't get the Gilgamesh card? I beat every CC Card member and I rebeat Joker. I did all what I was supposed to do to play King but their still not letting me. Do I have to beat all of the members (in total) x15 times or something?

Did you beat Dr. Kadowaki? I think you have to challenge her before you can face King. I had an easy time getting to King. You must have just forgot something... Good luck against King. I found it pretty easy if you have some good cards.

secret my good friend gilgamesh is owned by quistis who is the card king. once u have beat every other person you have to go to your dormitory and rest or something. the card king will wake you up and challege you to a duel. beat her and you can play her as many times as possible.
try fiddling with the card rules (i.e going to certain regions until certain rules are dropped or put in) so that u get to chose your cards at the end of the duel. save your game first though cause beating her may result in you losing a few rare cards which is pointless
once u get gilgamesh refine immediately my friend for 100 holy wars which pretty much makes your party invincible for all time (ha ha ultimecia get it right up you, griever was useless against me )

In order to hallenge Cc club King you:
a) need to have beaten all the other Cc club members
b) need to NOT be in the middle of any storyline progressing mission
c) need to speak to Dr Kadowaki (challenge her to a game)
d) finally you need to go to your dorm and take a nap. King (aka Quistis in uniform) will wake you in the middle of the night for a game (ooerr!).

beat her and she can be challenged at any time on the bridge of the Garden, so you should have no problem relieving her of any good cards she carries.

There probably won't be any answer to this but here I go. Its been a long long time since I played FFVIII but occasional you just get that itch, so I popped in my old install disk into my laptop. I installed everything correctly and got the game set-up. Now when I start up the game it immediatly freezes, before displaying anything. I'm just staring at a black screen. I can't even Alt-Tab out of it. I end up having to use Ctrl-Alt-Del in order to get anywhere. Task Manager says FFVIII isn't responding. I've tried downloading an online copy (which I suppose is legal if you actually own the game) incase it was a disk or installation problem, no luck. I'm guessing the issue is most likely with the operating system (Vista) or my graphics chipset (Intel 945 Express Chipset). I've asked around at more than one place, but I haven't gotten a good answer yet. Please, Squall is counting on you to allow him save the world, so don't be shy with those answers even if your not sure they are relevant or useful in the smallest way.

Not so much, but thanks alot for trying Omega. I did manage to drag my old computer out of the garage. It took a while to find it, but hey Squall needs me. Its not as good as running it on my laptop would be obviously. With that computer the game actually lags occasionally, which is sad. So anybody out there with any ideas, I'd still be real happy to hear them.

What do you have Junctioned to your Strength stat? And do you perhaps have something junctioned to Elem-Atk which the enemy absorbs? Gimme a list of of your Junctions, because that'll be where the answer lies.

Don't understand this stuff, but that sounds bad I am walking around with no encounter picking up some powerful magic but I can not seem to get descent attack points. I do not understand junction.

No wonder. With nothing Junctioned to Strength, nothing is going to be any good. =P The Lionheart, and indeed all weapons, don't make much difference to the Strength stat of a character. Junctions are where you'll get stat increases.

Go to the Islands Closest to Heaven and Hell, along with No Encounters equipped and draw from the secret Draw points there. Just spam the X button, basically. Give whoever the spells, just make sure you give Squall Ultima or Meteor. Those are the best spells to Junction to Strength. Also use the Draw Point in Shumi Village for Ultima.

If you can, draw Meteor from Lv 45+ Ruby Dragons. That's much faster, but can be dangerous. If you have the Ragnarok, land on top of the plateaus near Esthar. You should find them there. But remember: Lv 45+ Ruby Dragons ONLY. Hope this helps.

I have a question, is every possible card available to get on Disc 3? Or for some cards, do you have to get them at a certain point, on a certain disc?

Reason i'm asking is because i'm wanting to get every single card in the game.

I'm pretty sure that you can get every card in disk three except for cards that you would get after defeating certain bosses (Ifrit, Minotaur, Sacred, Cerberus). Also I believe there are some cards that you can only get during a specific part of the disk.

I spread the "Random" rule in card trading before I knew what I was doing. How do I abolish the random rule?

I'm not sure how much luck you'll have abolishing it. Once it starts spreading, it's hard to stop. You have to start pretty early, methinks. Try consulting an FAQ on abolishing the random rule as it's VERY involved and a post on it would be long long long.

And it may be that you've reached the point of no return, depending on how many regions it has spread to.

Well, the way to abolish rules is either by replacing it with another rule from another region or to play a combined game. Honestly, I never read into the card game schematics as much as the battle schematics, so I've quoted Oswauld from Gamefaqs to help you out. All rights to the text below go to him:

To abolish rules:

Area A: Has unwanted rule.
Area B: Has at least 1 rule, preferably exactly 1 rule, Area A doesn't
have, and doesn't have the unwanted rule.

Play a game in Area B. Proceed to Area A and save somewhere near any card
player. Challenge any person to a game of cards, when asked if you want to play
with a combination of both area's rules accept. When given the option to play
or quit a second time, quit. If the rule you want to abolish doesn't get
abolished reset and start over, if another rule spreads reset and start over, if
nothing happens challenge again.
Note: It's best to abolish rules before spreading rules.

Ok... I REALLY need someones help on this one. I'm doing the Queen of Cards side quest & I'm gettinf F-ING tired of this random rule.

EVERYWHERE I GO... this bitch has to have the random card rule on... IN EVERY REGION.

IS THERE ANYWAY I can take the random rule off so I can give her the card she needs when I meet in her Dollet? I can't do this with random because it's to little of a chance she'll get the card she wants & too big of a risk to lose the cards she takes during the game or all of my cards.

Hey, I thought that I would ask a question. I could probably look this up on the internet myself, but I feel lazy.

Where do you get the Doom Train GF?

Oh, and sorry if it's been asked before.

At the Tears Point you must find an item called "Solomon's Ring" then you must obtain 6x Malboro's Tentacle (mug or defeat Malboro), 6x Steel Pipe (steal from Wendigo) and 6x Remedy+ (You need to use Alexanders ability Med LV Up ability to convert 60x remedy in 6x remedy+). But if you don't have Alexander you can't get Doomtrain it's simple as that. When you have all items just use Solomon's ring and you'll have Doomtrain. You can also draw Doomtrain from one of the bosses in Ultimecia's Castle. And I really hope that you have Alexander (You can draw him when you fight Edea).

I've reached 9999 HP with Zell - is there a way to get more than that or have I reached the maximum?
Some ability of a GF perhaps? Or a spell? Something?

The only Final Fantasy game I have seen go higher then 9999HP is FFX and FFXII (with bubble, doesn't show you have more, but you really do)

No other FF lets you go higher then that.

This isnt a question about gameplay. It's more a question of how I can possibly play. My problem is this:- At the end of disc 1, when the failed assassination video takes place, the video freezes. This leaves me unable to play any further.

I just wondered if anybody knew of a way to correct this? I ask because I found a way to skip videos on FFIX and the game runs smoothly. This was by opening the disc cover on my Playstation 1.

Any help at all would be appreciated.
