Were you playing the same copy each time?
Each time I played it, his name always ended with a "K". And I have had the game since about 2002. The black label and Greatest Hits versions I've had both said "Blank".
So I'm playing FFIX right now, and thinking back to something, it's been bothering me waaayyy more than it should.
I swear, I remember, when I first played this game a few years ago, Blank's name was spelled as Blanc instead. But now it's spelled like that.
Is that just me, and I'm imagining things, or has his name been spelled like that originally? Please help, it's bothering me so much.

Though we hope for promising years. After shedding a thousand tears, yesterday's sorrow constantly nears.
And while the moon still shines blue, by dawn, it will turn to scarlet hue."

Yeah, I only have one copy of the game. But for whatever reason, I remember his name being spelled with a C at the end the first time I played it. So I dunno, and I have asked someone else, and they remember it being spelled with a C too.
And I know a game can't just change a character's name like that or something, so I have no idea, honestly.

I've played every American Version of the game and it's always been Blank. You sure you weren't just playing XII recently and got it confused with Monteblanc?

That's really strange because I remembered the same thing but recently when I was looking him up I noticed it always spelt with a 'k' but that's not what I remember...odd.
"Everyone was so happy. 'Great job. You did it. You saved us... all.' There were too many smiles to count.
But now...When I look back... The people who should be here aren't.
The ones who should be smiling with me aren't here."
No, I've never played XII, so there's no way I could've been mixing it up with that. So I dunno.
And see, I /knew/ I'm not the only one who's thinking this. But I've looked it up too, and it's always been spelled Blank.
But again, I dunno, maybe it's just me wanting it to be spelled as Blanc, but it's not.

Maybe it's because of the French word Blanc which sounds more like a ff name than an English word. It makes sense that his name is spelt Blank though because he doesn't see.

I did a quick google, found nothing. It's possible that you remember the original character name (pre-production) when the character information was first released? Sometimes the names are a little loosely translated or not quite spelled the way they intend them to in other languages.
Otherwise, you're going crazy.

Maybe because Blank just seems like a weird unfinished name, so you imagined it differently. It can happen. I played it rather recently and it was Blank.

Nope, it has always been Blank. Have you been playing the French version by any chance?
On my first playthrough of Final Fantasy VIII, I misread Galbadia as Galbaldia. Boy, was my face red... -_-

I'd say you simply got confused and twisted information in your brain.
