Thread: What's your strategy for Ruby and Emerald?

Post What's your strategy for Ruby and Emerald?

I just realized I only killed Ruby once in my life lol. I started a new game and I'm just playing with different strategies for them since I didn't really have one the first time I killed him.

I'm not sure if this is already a strategy but I just found a really easy way to beat Emerald. All you need is Mime on Cloud, KoTR paired with HP absorb and W-Item on another person and underwater on the third person and about 4 hero drinks. Let the person with underwater die, (make sure that person is in the middle) use W-Item for 2 hero drinks on Cloud then have Cloud use the rest of them on himself. Have the person with KoTR cast it. All you do for the rest of the time is mime. Oh and everyone should have Sprint Shoes.

    What are your strategies?

EDIT: OMG I'm an idiot I can kill Ruby now wooo! why is it that I can paralyze him? hahahah

I'm thinking about creating a hybrid. A dolphin-monkey. Half dolphin, half monkey. Do you think it's possible?
I was thinking that since I'm artificially creating it, I'll create it with rocket fuel instead of blood, and thus it will be able to fly, using the dolphin's dorsal fins as wings. And from the air, it will look down upon us all and protect us against sharks, and search for bananas.

I defeated Emerald weapon without KOTR, my tac consisted of miming limit breaks for as long as i could and final attack-Phoenix helped alot also.

For ruby i just used cloud to kill him, wasnt aware of the going into battle with 2 dead group members tactic. mime and kotr all the way

Re: What's your strategy for Ruby and Emerald?

My strategy for Ruby Weapon is what i used 2 weeks ago when i killed him for the second time:
Of course kill 2 of the 3 before the battle and then use Phoenix, have Cid,Barret and Cloud in the party and have a mastered Phoenix linked with mastered Final Attack on Cloud.
Have KOTR and mime on everyone.
Enemy skills that are very useful are Big Guard and White Wind.
Also at least one mastered 4x-Cut and Barret's Missing Score armed with alot of mastered materia (Comet,Ultima etc.),which powers him up and his limit break.

The first time i killed him i used everyone limit breaks alot with hero drinks and it worked in the end but i think it's better to just spam KOTR with W-Summon (while heavily guarded) and Counter materia linked with KOTR and have Cid the healer.
What's absolutely neccessary is to have the armors Ziedrich or Mystile (Mystile works best for me), also summons Phoenix and KOTR are key for success.

Emerald Weapon is laughably easy compared to Ruby but spam Omnislash with Cloud, have lightning linked with elemental.
Use the same supportive actions as above and he goes down pretty easily.

I have beaten emerald over 25 times and after the first time it would be easy every other time. You should be using infernape to beat the game. It is, in my opinion, the best pokemon in the game.

I have beaten Ruby once in my life, and I honestly couldn't tell you the strategy that I used.

I have beaten Emerald Weapon several times. My favorite strategy is the crazy 7's. His air-raid attack or whatever takes 2222 if your hp on your character's is 9999. So Once your health is 7777 you go bonker's. Another is spam Omnislash, and KotR.

Re: What's your strategy for Ruby and Emerald?

idk, a lot of these strategies here suck, because when I wanted to beat Ruby/Emerald, it was mainly for so I could get the Desert Rose which allowed me to get the Golden Chocobo without having the heartache/frustration of breeding/racing chocobos for like 20 hours. Getting lucky 7's I'd say is a legitimate strategy since you can force it to happen whenever if you know what youre doing, but using the Mime/KotR shit is just too easy and defeats the purpose for even beating Emerald, since I wanted to beat them to get that stuff lol.

Anywho, for Emerald I'm pretty sure I just molliwhopped him with 4x Cut on all three characters. It starts off a bit slow since you'll be targetting his laser beam thingies on his bigass shoulders but after awhile it picks up. I didn't bother equipping the underwater materia, nor did I bother limiting my materia choices for his materia damage attack. (in fact he never even used it on me lol) but I DID have final attack -> Phoenix on, just in case. I think I beat him with about 5-7 minutes left on the clock, not bad (and I could have done it a lot faster if I didn't use Vincent and let him Chaos but I'm an idiot -_-)

Ruby is even more failsafe than Emerald once you have the bounties of Emerald's stuff. I had W-Summon with Bamamut ZERO, and then I had Mime linked to HP Absorb. I also equipped a Ribbon on Cloud so I wouldn't get hit with all the nasty status effects. I started off using the 2x Bahamut ZERO summon and in return got more then 9999HP back each time, not a bad deal. Once I got damaged enough from his tenticles, I Omnislashed -> Mimed it from then on, which got me about 15k hp back each use. From then on I was pretty much invincible and beat him after a long drawn-out fight. gg no re.
