I know this is most likely asked all the time. But I wanted to know who did you think Cloud should have been in love with ect.

Man, this thread got shot down pretty quickly. Yeah there's been like 3.5 bil. threads on this, but I'm gonna keep with my favourite answer, which is neither. Cloud and Barret clearly have a thing going on, and not a prison rape thing, either. Nice balanced relationship.

Honestly I always thought he should be with Tifa. She always struck me more as his "type" or whatever.

I would say Tifa, she has it goin on compared to Aeris, but in the game I would always try to be jacked up to both of them for a different result but to no avail

I would say Tifa I like her more that Aerith.
Plus Tifa would look awesome on Clouds bike from Advent Children. Haha.
I dunno I just never really liked Aerith.
I didn't really like Aerith either. It just seemed strange that the game tried to show that Aerith and Cloud were a compatible match or something, but they only just met each other. Tifa grew up with Cloud. I didn't even think Cloud would show any sort of intimate feelings for Aerith. Friends, ya, but not lovers.

Contrary to what other people say, I actually preferred Aeris over Tifa. I just seemed to like her character better than Tifa's. So whenever I decide to play through FF7, I always make it so that Cloud ends up going with Aeris during the date sequence in the Gold Saucer.
I liked them both but Tifa the most because she's badass.
Cloud liked both personalities but i don't think he saw how much he liked her until after she.., but he definetly loved her but maybe not as he loved Tifa. Kinda leaves to speculations but Tifa probably always was the love of his life.
Cloud seems to always be under some kind of distress.
Cloud needs someone strong, like Tifa. I don't think Aeris would be able to support Cloud as well as Tifa could.

That's a good point, he needs her.
They have this mutual bond but Aeris was just super attractive to anyone she met.

I've actually never done that, always thought that was a bit silly to go for that.
Basically turn everything towards Barret in affection, always rather go for Tifa/Aeris.
Probably rather Yuffie than him, although it's the hardest if it is possible.
You can date Yuffie but yeah it's the hardest and she's a teenager in VII right?
All the FF Vii games compiled in my opinion point toward Cloud and Tifa being a couple and Zack and Aerith and the Cloud liking Aerith thing helps with the whole Cloud living on with Zack's life thing.

Two years grieving over someone who you barely knew a thing about. Seems off. He obviously liked her.
Tifa had it going on with the big boobs and beat 'em up moves, but I just saw her as Cloud's childhood friend. Aeris and Tifa are complete opposites, so he might've liked Aeris more because she was different.

Exactly, and even though Tifa didn't succesfully make him feel better. She did try for 2 years. I don't think Aeris would have supported Cloud so much had Tifa been the one who died.
He liked Aerith because he hijacked Zack's life. When he was strung out on Mako, and Zack died, the trauma plus the half stoned thing made "Be my living legacy," become "Be me in every goddamn facet," including see Aerith as his love interest, although Tifa later became the refocus when he regained his whole mind and realized he wasn't Zack.

He also probly liked Aeris because she is sweet and sexy. When he met her, all he knew was that she needed a guide home, and she used to have a boyfriend who was in SOLDIER.
Well if you have seen Advent Children who would you have picked? Personally Tifa is pretty nice looking and she has some other nice assets as well!!! Need I say more?!
aeris is the one for cloud. tifa is more of a good friend. i mean aerus liekd zack, whose looks resemble cloud and cloud even though being different than zack, i can see him together with aeris. also the games intention was aeris too xD
How did you come to that conclusion? Tifa didn't really support him, and just bugged the hell out of him so much, he never answered his phone and cried over Aeris' flowers, while he developed (secretly, might I add) the stigma.
Aeris came across to me as a warm and playful character. She would have brought the light out of Cloud if given half a chance. Both her and Tifa both knew that Cloud wasn't really being Cloud too, but Aeris seemed to be the only one to voice the concern before Tifa was running around in the Lifestream to save him. Aeris knew him five minutes and worked that out, and Tifa didn't say a word.
From the way many of you have answered, it just strengthens the idea that Tifa is just bang worthy and not much else. Aeris is the one I'd rather have the relationship with.

wait a minute.. tifa saving cloud from the lifestream does not show the contrary of what you just wrote???
Oh, I went for Tifa, and that was before I found out about everything that happens. Tifa made sense for Cloud, plus I loved having a woman going kung fu. The cut scene after the casino if you go for Tifa is also pretty funny.
I used Yuffie for some of the Weapon fights, but by the end of the game my main characters were Cloud, Tifa, and Cait Sith.
Chrono Cores:
Tifa wanted Cloud, bad, Aeris loved everyone, especially Cloud... Aeris was made for cloud but was taken from him, and Tifa capitalized. As for which one I prefer that would be the one who survived. No offense to Aeris but I'm not into dead chicks. Plus Tifa kicks ass and Aeris can barely hop some junk mounds.
The Plot i think Square wanted to put across would be That Cloud has gone on to try and live Zack's life for him and Aeris and Zack were in love and by chance Cloud meets her and loves her but after she dies he is all protective over Tifa and remembers who he loves so for this question every time i'd go for CLoud + Tifa and Zack + Aeris

Exactly, people just see the big (grossly mutated) breasts in FF7 and instantly drool. Aeris was definitely the more suitable girlfriend for anyone. Tifa is lust, Aeris is love.

It's obvious you can make arguments for both. I think whoever is liked more Aerith/Tifa, by the player is who they want with Cloud. Both have feelings for Cloud, however, playing through the game it is hard to distinguish between Aerith's feeling for Cloud or Zack, while Tifa's feeling are definitely directed at solely Cloud. If you try to cut out what you feel towards Tifa/Aerith I think the game directs you towards the Cloud-Tifa, Aerith-Zack union (seen most basically in that Cloud/Tifa remain together in life, and Zack/Aerith come together in death.)
However, that said, anyone (like myself) can decide to throw out some obvious cues from the game and let your own feelings direct who you want with who, and in my case I've always been more partial to Aerith, so my feelings their kind of override the logical case for Cloud-Tifa I know is very prominent in the game.
