Of course there is a plot. They brought all the characters back, kept the story going without making a new story, and made loads of fanboy money with little effort. It was an evil masterminded plot made by the creators.

I have played FF7 at least a dozen or so times and have watched it played all the way through about a dozen times too and I still don't get the whole story some of it I get but not all why did they make it so difficult to understand? As for Advent Children epic movie in my opinion and it has a plot and it is easy to understand.
